Just got back into writing this morning. I bought microsoft word for 9.99 a month. I am starting fresh for my novel I was writing years back that I hope I can remember what it was about as I write it. Right now I am at 373 words so far. I will try for a goal of 500 a day if I can.
You look amazing Kate! I am so excited for you in 2025, I think it's going to be a great year. My wife and I are saving for IVF, and I have the goal to launch a new pen name. I also graduate with my BA in English this upcoming fall 2025!
Thank you!! And ahhhhh, keeping my fingers crossed for you and your wife! That’s so very exciting. Hope you have a wonderful last year in school for your BA! And good luck on launching your new pen name. :) so many wonderful things 2025 has in store for you!!
Sounds like you're gonna have an ambitious year, Kate. My goal is to keep doing stand-up comedy and writing/performing original, funny songs. I'll put 11 songs together into a studio album.
I love the little hobbies throughout the videos. I feel like is very realistic for a writer. But I will totally support you if you decide to create a "Kate's Life" channel or separate vlogs. Happy 2025!
These are amazing!! And want to copy some of them hahahaha!!! (Also what?! I love how snuck in “I might even publish under my own name” in there hahahaha! I had to rewind it to make sure lol!) And gaaaahhhh! I’m so excited for a little crocheted Snake!!!! I can already picture the real Snake giving him snuggles! Oooooooo I’ve already made the saag paneer one twice now lol!! Sooooo good!!!! Someday, I will get your pen name out of you LOL!!! Yessssssss to sewing!!! I love that idea of going to a local class!! And you know if need any help, I’m here!! Listen, I’d watch a two hour Japan vlog! Just saying lol! I need to do a date day thing too. I keep saying I’m going to do it, but then home is just so much more appealing hahaha!! But I’m adding that to my goals too lol
This year I want to try something different! I always set a huge amount of complicated goals to completely change my life and I inevitably fail to follow through. Instead, I’ve got 2 goals per 2 month period (~60 days) that I’ll commit to with the hope they become consistent habits. Then I’ll continue those habits for the rest of the year while adding on an additional 2 goals per 2 months. First up: work-life balance and sleep schedule!
A new Kate video!!! I will watch your vlogs wherever they are and however they're edited (by time or topic). But as someone with ADHD, I love to see what people do in a week (even if it's not finishing any 1 thing). But that's just me-and not a breaking point for me.
For starters, as someone who deals with regular chronic migraines, I am so very happy you found a doctor and medication that works for you!!! I'm still looking for one in my area because I aged out of my previous one and have yet to find something that works for me. I also just want to say I love your goals, and they helped me figure out some ideas for my goals! I'm planning on writing them up and making a video for it as one of my goals (which has been a goal for a while now) is to start making content again. Good luck on your goals!
Hi Kate! One, two, three channels... I'll be following you! But I like that your content is "mixed" here, it's inspiring for me to see another writer whose writing life is balanced, filled with words but also hobbies, trips, daily connections etc 😊
I miss your WRITING LIKE (AUTHOR NAME) CHALLENGE. I don't know why, but it keeps me entertain knowing I am not only exploring the ways of routine that writers write, but also how they build their story.
I’ve always been terrible about setting goals and making resolutions because I get a tad bit behind and then anxiety and guilt kicks in, but I’m gonna try again this year! My goals (so far) are: finish the draft of my current writing project, visit a bookstore my friend recommended to me at LEAST once, start a dnd group with my friends and sister, do the artists way which is a book I’m sure most of if not all of you have heard of, and possibly use this account for more than commenting. I’m still working out the logistics of the last one (as well as gathering my courage). Wishing you and everyone who comments a good year with lots of goal accomplishing!
Your broad range of goals are so inspiring! Re Alaska : I flew to Alaska and took a "conventional" vacation out of an airbnb in Anchorage a few years ago and it was the trip of a lifetime. There are so many incredible nature, food, and museum opportunies around that city... I'm DEFINITELY going back and I won't be cruising :) definitely 100 million times recommend! Also - the driving in Alaska is incredible.. You'll see so much wildlife just on the roads! So even if you do decide to take a road trip to catch some of the things you may miss by not cruising, you're going to have a wonderful time. 🎉
Goals are nice, but most will take years to accomplish (my Experience), so long term I eventually comes back around to them. My biggest mistakes were poor diet (junk Food) and not drinking enough water. Cut Caffeine in sodas and coffee a must, basically I was dehydrated for 40 years it looks like. This brings on all kinds of health problems I went through. Everybody needs to exercise too; that's my goal now. I'm starting out slow, need to work into it slowly. I was too disorganized so now on a mission to do all that. I even rented a storage center to move everything out and clean and organize. I have a ton of hobbies way too much. Just need to organize and clean up. I think that's the key to any way of getting somewhere. Wow, I'm tired too. It wears you out.
I'd be happy either watching combined videos or subscribing to a second channel too - whatever works best for you. As someone who also tries to juggle a lot of different interests, your videos are always very inspiring no matter the topic. Best wishes for 2025!
I'm not trying to pry, but do you have a place where your fiction stories are available to read? Not your major projects or anything, but other stories that you don't mind sharing with your fans? Your writing videos are such an inspiration and I would love being able to read your stories. Happy New Year! Hope it's the best for you.
Kate, please vlog the cruise!! I am a HUGE cruise nerd so if you need any advice, please feel free to ask me! I have loads of great cruise channels you can check out for more information about your specific ship. You made me so excited when you said you were going on a cruise this year, I am too! My mom and I are going to the Panama Canal for my 25th birthday in November with Princess, I'd love to hear as much about yours as you feel comfortable sharing!
This was the perfect watch for today! :-) I’m equally on board whether you launch another channel or have more not-writing on this one. Your style/personality is just a breath of fresh air whatever the specific video is about. I love to make a list of “wishes” for the new year so a mix of actual goals and just ideas that are exciting that I want to have written down to revisit throughout the year. Happy new year!
A LIST OF WISHES IS SO CUTE. I will absolutely be doing that (as soon as I finish the final push of my 100KQ4). That is such a phenomenal idea. And thank yoU!!! :)

I'd like to say your videos can sometimes help me refocus and especially going into a new year when sometimes the previous year things have sort of fallen apart-- things like setting goals are actually really important. Thank you for this video because now I'm definitely going to be setting goals for myself. Maybe not 52 of them, that sounds insane, but I may set like 5 to 10 or something 😂
Great goals. Found your videos with your writing semester videos! I love the idea for other areas, for example, Jashii Corrin video has a video How I'm tracking my gamified life (she has timestamps for skills areas/life areas and task and projects). Hi, new subscriber and watcher here💖 you mentioned that you write under multiple pen names, you have probably explained in previous videos, but was just curious as to why you do that? Thank you!
Bahahah! I fully understand how that big number sounds so scary, but making them small and manageable and doable is SO helpful. Good luck on your 113 goals! :)
@KateCavanaugh Sorry to bother in this manner, I am interested in not just writing and reading, but to crocheting too. I am very much new to this whole experience, finding the wrong yarn proof of that. Do you know which yarn is best for beginners? Also, I enjoyed the video. Great as always!
Ooooh, this was such a hurdle for me in the beginning, too! I'd definitely recommend Toni at TL Yarn Crafts. She has a lot of great videos (this one talks about picking the right yarn: ua-cam.com/video/irfb1hOVa1M/v-deo.html ) and tons of tutorials. Her blog is also an incredible resource. Good lucK!! :)

Thank you! Happy New Year to you too! Those are great goals. Wishing you all the luck with your health and publishing! :)
@@KateCavanaugh Thank you.
There are some stories i didn't finish this year that I'm just rollin into next year. But I did write a lot and will continue to write a lot.
I'll also be writing new stuff too. And some studying
I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages!
SURPRISE! :)
Hi, new subscriber and watcher here💖 you mentioned that you write under multiple pen names, you have probably explained in previous videos, but was just curious as to why you do that? Thank you!
I got 113 goals, and need to put a couple more on that list! But broken down small goals, not all 113 big goals! 😂
Bahahah! I fully understand how that big number sounds so scary, but making them small and manageable and doable is SO helpful. Good luck on your 113 goals! :)
Gonna try to get three novels written in 2025!!!! :) First drafts, 50k each style. Not finished, just started :D
WOOOOO! Love that, it'll be so fun! :)
@KateCavanaugh
Sorry to bother in this manner, I am interested in not just writing and reading, but to crocheting too.
Good lucK!! :)
@@KateCavanaugh Thank you so much. I eventually figured out the trick. It was keeping the momentum going while I was making a chain. That's all I can do for now. I will check this person out. 😁
I really want to learn to sew and crotchet. I watch Bernadette Banner religiously! Do you have any crocheting UA-camrs you recommend?
Highly highly highly recommend TL Yarn Crafts!!! Toni is so informative and such a great watch. She has some really in-depth tutorials but also fun chatty videos.
@@KateCavanaugh Thank you so much!
I finished knitting scarves for friends in 2023 and still haven't mailed them 😅
Bahaha we're in this struggle together!!! Maybe a good goal for 2025?? At least the knitting is done! Loooool.
Lol, tell them the scarves are hostages and they need to visit to secure their release.
