The available Active AWD system uses electro-hydraulic coupling with center-locking differential to actively distribute power between front and rear wheels depending on road and driving conditions.
Sportage All-Wheel Drive X-Line and X-Pro
In developing a reputation for building rugged and capable SUVs, Sportage is available in the X-Line and all-new Sportage X-Pro trims. Both come standard with AWD and a unique tread-like stitching pattern on unique and easy to clean SynTex synthetic leather seats.

For the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, the compact turbo engine is part of an advanced powertrain package that also features a 66.9kW permanent magnet traction electric motor and a 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. This powertrain combination delivers a total system power output of 265PS, with 180PS originating from the T-GDI engine.
For the Sportage Hybrid model, the acclaimed 1.6 T-GDI engine combines with a 44.2kW permanent magnet traction electric motor and a 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery to deliver an efficient and responsive powertrain. Total system power is 230PS.
The Kia Sportage also features a gasoline MHEV that benefits from the 1.6 T-GDI engine, with the hybridization technology working to reduce emissions and enhance frugality. Two power options of the Sportage Gasoline MHEV are available - 150PS and 180PS.
Also included in the launch line-up of the new European Sportage is a highly efficient 1.6-litre clean diesel engine that is available with 115PS or 136PS power outputs. The 136PS clean diesel model is the second MHEV powertrain available in the Sportage, with the hybridisation technology further reducing emissions and enhancing efficiency of the SUV. The diesel engine also features the latest SCR active emissions control technologies that further cuts pollutants such as NOx and particulate matter.
The new Sportage is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (7DCT). A six-speed manual transmission (MT) is also available, while a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) is exclusive to the MHEV models. Both the Sportage Hybrid and Sportage Plug-in Hybrid models are equipped with the latest-generation six-speed automatic transmission (6AT). To meet all customer requirements, new Sportage is available in either all-wheel drive (AWD) or front-wheel drive (FWD) spec. The Sportage Plug-in Hybrid benefits from AWD technology.

Damn, only if Rav4 hybrid had this dashboard design I would've bought it already. Can't stand Rav4's large bezel with small infotainment screen stuck out in middle of dashboard. Bought my last new car back in 2007(currently has 276K+ miles), and I keep my car for 10 to 15 years so Kia isn't one of my choice but very nice dash cluster.

What's different about 2022?
Wish it had a bigger trunk and more room to move around. I really love and want this. Gorgeous vehicle.
We agree that the larger the van today is, the less capacity the car has in the trunk. The smaller the car or truck the more space it has in the trunk when it should be. The right thing to do is the smaller the truck or car the less space it should have in the trunk. But now the manufacturers, I imagine that it will be a trend for them, the bigger the car or the truck, the less capacity the trunk will have. On the other hand, a truck or car that is medium to small with more capacity is going to have in the trunk what a crazy world we are living in. I don't know much about cars but little by little I'm learning.
The size of this trunk is decent. I test drove one recently.

Used to be a KIA snob, not anymore! Turned in my Honda lease and ordered my sportage sx hybrid this past weekend. Should take delivery in 1-2 months. Can't wait to drive it. Stylish inside and out, lots of features and will save a ton of $$ on gas. Thanks for posting this video.

Most unfortunate part is that Kia Motors are not keeping their committment .Kia is not delivering the vehicle's even after getting full payment.I booked Kia in October 2021 n made full payment in Jan 2022.But Till date I have not Kia Sportage AWD. Can someone do something in this regard.
You are not the only one! I put down on a deposit and agreed to pay 2k over MSRP but still nothing! They keep saying logistical issues with Shipp from Korea then build a damn plant here is north America to produce them.

I really like this black Kia Sportage. I am learning how to drive older. I am age 41 getting a driving lesson on Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. I need to get a used Camry as my first car purchase. I'll be getting around in my used Camry. No luxury cars for me. I like Camrys!

BEWARE of system (like ac heater) failure in Kia in few weeks/months time. Lacks quality and service. I have personally experienced this. Does any one know if we had these kind of problems on Toyota or Honda? I should have opted for Toyota or Honda. But instead went with fancy “Kia Sportage 2023” and it’s not working now. I don’t know if it’s a quality issue or the way the dealership is taking care of new vehicles. But this is a serious issue for 40k worth car
