You can not find such great artist now a days with the vision that they had. Look at all the styles they have formed. Till this day they are still finding new followers. The words in their music is so meaningful with a purpose.
great! I couldn't remember the title and have been looking for this song for ever This kind of great song still sounds contemporary but for those of us around when it came out it's also comfortingly nostalgic...the lyrics are simple but so poetic and the mood of the rythm is perfect for how the concept of the song feels viscerally ugh such a great song THANK YOU for the upload and presentation :D
It's great song! I loved this! it's came out from their 2nd album if i didn't go wrong. Times have been changed and I seem that kind of sounds like they made is rare to get now and some people wants to listen to commercial tunes . I am always thinking that Nothing better than beginning of 80's!
This is my favourite Yazoo song, but it is not the favourite where Alison Moyet as a singer is concerned. Though here composition is concerned it is my favourite of Vince Clark.
I listened to alot of music in my day, an sad to say, I missed this one. Thanks for posting this. EXCELLENT, is all I can say. Felt at peace with this.
In his face age descends on youth, exaggeration on the truth He caught me looking then but soon his eyes forgot And everything he seems to do reflects just another shade of blue I saw him searching into you and ached a while I watch his lips caress the glass, His fingers stroke its stem and pass To lift a cigarette at last, he dries his eyes From a shadow by the stair I watch as he weeps unaware That I'm in awe of his despair
Precisely, and what made Vince Clarke leap from one mission to another (rhetorical)? He did a splendid job in forming Depeche Mode, and he certainly managed to capture Alison's deep voice. I can only speculate how it would have sounded should Vince have had managed to unite Jimmy Somerville, David Gahan and Alison Moyet. Rolle Möller, Finland
@mikefahey53 Yep , this is gonna b truly classic even up to now , i've remembered this release being as little child as it was very very often played at disco's . Then didn't know the title of that song , and later i found the one at least t on " You and Me both " lp.
yeah, i watched the movie last year after reading the book for school. I didn't like what happened to the main character, but for some reason i still loved the book. Thats what happens whenever i read one of Robert Cormier's books; despite their themes, i'm still drawn to them
He is as much a mystery man to me as he is to you. I was given this silent footage for a video editing class exercise. Immediately this song came to my mind and it fitted perfectly. Perhaps we will meet him on the beach one day, when we visit the planet Solaris. I hope so!
@@jasonbarron3047 You missed my point entirely and ended up restating my intention. My Point being not that Many people can relate to this whether they are Gay not Gay, chose to spend all their time exclusively in the company of males or females because that is their preference or because they find either sexual form/body totally unappealing. Itis the FEELING that it evokes that is universal. This song was written by a Woman about her observations of a male or BOY. Vince Clark was gay and i wouldn't be the first to think mistakenly or not that the boy she is singing about is one of Vince Clarkes BOY friends,, MATE. ;) You dont have to be female or gay to get the feeling/ the aching feeling she expresses. but hey if you wanna be nasty and dismissive or take offence GO AHEAD! I aint defending anything, personally I struggle to see any beauty in the classical male form at this time in my life. I still am touched by this song though because I am human. BTW if YOU dont care why are you even commenting in reply. Reflect on that one. London, in the mid 80s, Vince Clark, Yazoo even Alison Moyet are all GAY ICONS. Hence the "I am not Gay"; the feeling, LOVE, ATTRACTION, PASSION is UNIVERSAL. My point was the elucidation of this universality amongst ALL SEXIALITYS , of all these emotions.

I was just saying nobody cares about a person's sexual it these days and I thought you saying I'm not gay but.... "in his face age descends on youth" or "in his face ages in its own youth" is how i always heard it, but it's 'ageless', which i find more boring (because otherwise the lyrics are flawless)
I remember that comment about the gay "The Ring' because it was the first comment on this video. I didn't delete that comment. It disappeared. I wonder where it went to... I had to watch 'The Ring' movie the next time it was on TV to understand that comment. I think it's to do with being upside down! Why is half this video upside down you ask...? That is another story...! There was also a funny comment on my Bryan Ferry 'Kiss and Tell' video that disappeared. It said Bryan looked like one of those old guys that goes to teenager's house parties and no one knows who invited him. Maybe Bryan said that comment was spam.
Just like Depeche Mode, Alison and Vince were a group way ahead of their time. I hear kids wanting to know who sings these songs.
The first favourite song of mine in my life. oO"

The Chocolate War: brilliant book, film, and soundtrack

Hoo
In his face age descends on youth, exaggeration on the truth
He caught me looking then but soon his eyes forgot
And everything he seems to do reflects just another shade of blue
I saw him searching into you and ached a while
I watch his lips caress the glass,
His fingers stroke its stem and pass
To lift a cigarette at last, he dries his eyes
From a shadow by the stair
I watch as he weeps unaware
That I'm in awe of his despair
Good photage that fit well with Alisons sensual voice.
christ, this fucking track!!!!
Nice song
great great video!!!!
the song one of my favourite yazoo
if anyone recalls the 80's movie The Chocolate War, based on the novel, it features many songs by Yazoo...worth a look...
This song reminds me when I was 21 and I had a crush on a coworker who was . It was a quick hookup, nothing came of it but the memory remains...
These kind of fleeting and sometimes unfulfilled romances are golden, their aching sparkle can last a lifetime ❤
I still savour a few.
great video for this song. awesome
In this song, the LinnDrum and 197? synth arp noise and glockenspiel were heard.
Love this x

pure 1980s
