- A VISIT TO YNYSHIR near Porth in the WELSH RHONDDA VALLEY in April 2021.
We visit PAUL KIRNER'S MUSIC PALACE in South Street, former Saron Chapel 1884,
home of the ex-REGAL EDMONTON CHRISTIE,
the Mike Candy ex-PICTURE HOUSE, LEICESTER WURLITZER,
and Ben Snowdon's ex-AYLESBURY CIVIC CENTRE COMPTON,
together with a comprehensive collection of Electronic instruments,
and Paul Kirner's NEW MUSIC PALACE, also in South Street, the former AINON CHAPEL 1886,
soon to house the ex-COMPTON LODGE, SAPCOTE 4/20 + Wurlitzer upright piano and Melotone,
and the ex-GAUMONT MANCHESTER 4/14 Wurlitzer with Wurlitzer Grand Piano,
presently installed and playing via the computor at Folly Farm Leisure near Tenby, West Wales,
and the RITZ HEREFORD 2/4 & Melotone Compton.
The video includes various shops and food outlets in the village including
The Worker's Gallery, Kam He Chinese take-away, Wong Sang take-away,
McColl's Shop and Off Licence, the By-pass, the highly recommended Corner Cafe,
St. Anne's C of E Church, Railway Terrace and views of the beautiful surrounding hills.
Music by SIDNEY TORCH at the REGAL EDMONTON CHIRSTIE,
taken from Columbia 78rpm records from the Paul Kirner Archive Collection.
The titles are; "BUGLE CALL RAG" (Pettis,Mills & Schoebel), "TWELFTH STREET RAG" (Bowman)
and "TEMPTATION RAG" (Lodge) all tracks recorded and released in 1935.

It's great to see my father's birthplace (Ynyshir) again. I've told you that my grandmother was caretaker of the Saron Chapel (now your Cinema Organ Palace) in the 1940s and that the family lived at 23 South Street. I really want to visit once we're allowed to travel again. Small world! :)
