    Brady played in big games and always brought Michigan back from behind. None of these coaches watched tape, they just watched a 40 yard dash

      He still didn't have that great play in college and developed a lot after going pro. I credit Bill with seeing the potential (which he first realised when one of his mentor's who's name I can't remeber was the only analyst talking about Brady's potential). Remeber that Brady started off year one as the 4th string QB and year two as the 3rd string (when they only had 3 on the roster). Not to mention that during that time everyone was going after athletic QBs (thanks to the likes of Joe Montana, Steve Young, younger Brett Favre, Randall Cunningham, Watren Moon, John Elway, Kurt Warner, Jim Haurbaugh, etc). In fact that continued since and the QBs jn the NFL have become progressively more athletic. Some of the notable first rounders in the few following years were Ben Rothelisbsrg, Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith, Michael Vick, Carson Palmer, Vince Young, Drew Brees, David Carr, and Jamarcus Russell. Nowadays in the 2010s a non athletic QB almost never goes in the first few rounds and especially not the first (with the notable exceptions of Brandon Weeden who was already 28 by the time's the Browns got him). The spread is a part of all playbooks nowaday's including the Patriot's who frequent 2 TE set's when in that formation. QB run's and options are in more than half of NFL playbooks. And recently the RPO's have been taking off big time with 1/3 of the league running them. Accorsing to Saquan Barkley even the Giant's playbook even features option play's despite them having Eli Manning (which they never actually ran this past season).

      He still would have been fired he was treated just like Jim Harbaugh, wanted a little more control over the roster decisions. So the Yorks fired him after two seasons making the playoffs. So they could hire their yes man. Niners SUCKED for 8 years with three different head coaches. After Harbaugh got fired Yorks got tired of winning again, so they hired three head coaches in three years. Niners SUCKED four years. Yorks will keep Kyle Shanahan as head coach in his four years only one winning season. The Yorks owners who hate to win. Who misses Eddie DeBartolo!

I watch replays of the Orange Bowl, the "brightest lights, the biggest stage", and Brady was nearly perfect. How that man, or all the others, could not see that still amazes me. They never looked into Henson situation. It was all about trying to keep Henson past his sophomore year. Very stupid on Boy Lloyds part. Brady was always excellent. Like one poster on here said, he wouldn’t even want his QB athletic. Not a ridiculous statement.
    Now first off, Tom Brady is an athletic guy. Just not as athletic as many other QBs. Obviously the criteria or metrics to identify QBs might need to be looked at. I’m sure Tom Brady is forced many scouts and coaches to take a hard look at what really is important.
    Tom has so many intangible qualities that play into his success. He obviously believes in his own abilities. But this in itself is a subject that needs to be addressed. What leads to this kind of belief in oneself. He understands himself better than other QB.
    He learns quicker, he adjusts to change better, handles pressure like no one else.
    And there is much more.
    As you can see none of this relates to the physical capabilities. What sets Tom Brady apart is the same thing that Arnold Schwarzenegger has, and ever high achiever possesses in every realm of life. It’s their emotional make-up, which of course is regulated in the brain.
    Tom Brady is cool as a cucumber in that pocket. Ice runs through his veins. As you can see his emotions do not rule his mind. He is highly disciplined beyond his rivals. You can see it in the work ethic. It’s in his eating, sleeping, training regimens. His mind his in control and he knows how to deploy his mind for every single thing he does.

    The thing about Tom, for me, is it makes me ask myself two questions. First, landing in New England was the perfect environment for him and then Drew gets injured; right place, right time. There are so many factors that worked out for and allowed him to shine but what if he was drafted by the 49ers, or Bengals, or Cleveland, etc.? He might have very well ended his career in obscurity; never getting a chance to either play or even be taken seriously as a backup. The second question, for me, is how many other guys from the later rounds never had those two factors (opportunity and nurturing conditions) working for them and so found themselves after a few years out of the league? Don't just think Brady; think Ryan Fitzpatrick. By now you can say he has at the very least made a career for himself in the NFL and all because the high-pick"STAR" QB's in front of him in Buffalo turned out to be duds.

    Nobody thought Brady had a future in the NFL...not even his college coaches. It was suggested to him to coach somewhere if he wanted to stay in the game. Brady was willing to do the work...and he needed a LOT of it.

    3 of the 4 Cal Qbs lost in SB. Goff hasn't played yet. In the meantime one University has had 8 appearances for one QB and 5MVP's, Desmond one TB 4. Brandon Graham deserved one last year and Brady deserved one more.

    Don't feel bad Mooch. Every other team passed on Brady too, and the Patriots just got lucky. If the Patriots had any idea Brady was going to be great they would have taken him a lot sooner. They just signed Bledsoe to a big contract extension and at the time just thought Brady would be a solid career backup. It's just proof nobody knows what is going to happen with any prospect. Look at Brock Purdy. If they could re-draft the '22 class Purdy might be the first pick overall, definitely top 10.

    • @BAThePickle
      @BAThePickle 3 роки тому

      Who else went to CAL? Kyle Boller. Don’t forget his participation in one of the worst quarterbacked games I’ve ever seen with OAK facing off at home versus KAN. The three QB’s threw 8 INT combined and threw for a combined 30-65. Kyle Boller, Matt Cassel, and Carson Palmer posted RATE of 22.3, 38.3, and 17.3 respectively. I call that a shittier performance than Oakland Coliseum’s plumbing.
