You're going to have more than one opportunity to talk with the Guardian ad Litem. If a red flag was raised, you WILL have the chance to rebut that presumption.
At the end of the day, the Guardian ad Litem does not care about your interests or the other party's interests; they care about the child. It is not in your favor to refuse to cooperate or communicate with the Guardian ad Litem.
Remember: If you don't agree with the Guardian ad Litem's recommendations, you are not stuck! Talk to your attorney. There are other options available.

They don't really care about the child either. They care about the money.

With respect there are a number of guardian ad litems who volunteer their time because they have a heart for the children.

@@TeslaBoy123 No matter where you are, you should be able to ask the judge to appt a volunteer Guardian ad litem.
Providing there are enough volunteers in your area.
      In florida currently.

Don’t let a GAL try to force you out of your child’s life! I pushed back at unethical behavior from my previous GAL, and they got removed!

      How?

@@zifangkb2061 They were ignoring court orders and we showed the judge that the GAL was in noncompliance with a court order. In short, the gal was asking the court to order me to do a PCE with the psychologist of their (the gal’s) choosing. The court denied the gal’s motion and told the court and all parties that they would not contact any of my witnesses, including an expert witness, and was going to recommend zero contact between me and my child until I do the test with their psychologist. In court, the judge asked the GAL if they would be able to comply with court orders and not hold it against me if I declined to do the test with their psychologist. They again said no and they would not comply with the order, so they removed them.
We tried our best to work with them and had offered to do tests with other psychologists. We even moved forward and did testing with someone who could provide the testing at a much more reasonable rate. We complied with everything that we were obligated to comply with and tried to work with them. All parties should do so. Comply as much as possible but show the courts documentation of them behaving unethically and let them decide.

How did you get her removed? I have a friend who is going through this right now. any info would be great

@@rhondacarpenter9544 Info is above. They were intentionally ignoring/disobeying court orders. When the judge reprimanded them (in court) the judge asked the GAL if she, the GAL, would be willing to not hold “xyz” against me since I was not comfortable with doing it and the judge said the GAL could not force me to do it. The GAL told the judge “no”, and so the judge removed her. It was that judge’s orders that she was disobeying and it pissed him off.
You have to file a motion to remove, and judges do not normally grant them. It’s extremely difficult and rare for it to be successful and you have to show the judge that they are deliberately disobeying court orders and/or deliberately prejudiced against one side or the other. It cannot be “I don’t like them and want them removed”. We had sent numerous letters to GAL to do her job and sent copies to the court, prior to asking for her to be removed.

This was very informative, thank you. I took notes. My attorney did not send a rebuttal with a position statement and I felt under-represented. We may have one more mediation session then I must decide whether to go to trial, accept the GAL recommendation, or withdraw my motion (my motion to change the parenting plan from 40/50 to 50/50).

Yeah a guardian of Leitem isn’t supposed to pick a side which they clearly did and it wasn’t even a biological parent it was a stranger that lied under oath in the guardian of light and even lied to the judge also yes be careful people they’re only a lawyer that is presented by the judge and in Pennsylvania when I read The instructions they have to follow and there’s 16 factors that the judge looks at one of the biological parents have to ask for a guardian of Leitem or a family member/teacher not a stranger corrupting a child and being threatened beforehand the situation even arises and they’re not even looking or batting an eye our way at all Yes people are going to definitely families definitely are gonna freak out they need to put themselves in the family shoes and look at it that way just because you’re told something doesn’t mean it’s true or the person beat you to the punch in contacts someone secretly come on now

Wow. What reality do you people live in. A lawyer CAN'T remain inpartial, especially if they are also a lawyer whose biggest platform is father's rights. They WILL find favor with the father even if the mother provides stacks of proof of the abuse the father committed against the family.

The GAL is supposedly a neutral 3rd party. Let not talk soly on ideals.
