      Please, anyone can answer, sometime when I do sell/put some stocks give me the premium right away and some doesn’t? Is that normal? Do I only get the premium when the options expire?My options is execute but i don’t get the premium right away. If anyone can clarify why that is, it would be greatly appreciated!

      @@PandreaMoney thank you for your reply, I thought the same too, I did a AMC sell/ put $30 2 weekscall when the stock was trading around 28, but I did not receive the premium for that options right away,
      Also, I noticed when I looked at my buying power, the collateral was combine both of the amount I put up for the sell:put options and the premium,
      Example: I spend $5000 for the option, premium was $500, the collateral was showing $5500

    Nobody can become financially successful overnight. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.

If you don't want to, but, if after a a few weeks or even the same day, if you're lucky enough to have a very volatile stock like Tesla, the stock will take a huge swing in your favor, and your contract will magically be worth significantly less because the stock price has either significantly increased or decreased. Then you can close the contract, and in some cases, being able to keep at least half the premium.

    Hi Pandrea, how do you set stop losses on options?

  • @wiseman4160
    @wiseman4160 8 місяців тому +1

    One of the reasons options traders lose money they buy the cheapest strike price. Instead of in the money and at the money strike price. If strike price is say 0.55 or cheaper it's that cheap for a reason! I like out of the money strike prices also, difference is I'm not looking for one too far away from at the money strike price. When the strike price is too far away from at the money the stock has to work way harder to make you profit. Surprised this wasn't mentioned in the video.

      You don't get assigned on options that you purchase. That's only a concern if you sell options as an opening trade. And someone will always buy the option you are trying to sell. If liquidity is poor, however, then you may have to sell at the Bid price. That's where market makers will buy anything.

    Thank you very much for that great content! After studying options and the basics over the last months I am currently a bit reluctant to make my first trade mostly due to IV. I understand that it might make sense to rather sell options when IV is high. Nevertheless, what is the best move if I think that the stock price increases followings earnings but IV might crush down? If I sell a put option the intrinsic value increases if the stock price increases. Would I also profit from IV crushing down as I am on sell side or would a IV crush also affect my position negatively?

    • @MrRapSick
      @MrRapSick 2 роки тому

      im not sure but i'd think you'd determine whether the IV at purchase and subsequent decline (due to maybe an earnings play) is worth a gain potentially earned from capital increase... really you'd just obtaining the option at a time when theres many players in the market and that in the future can make it harder to follow it's underlying adequately.

    • @scottreesetradinginvesting7936
      @scottreesetradinginvesting7936 2 роки тому +1

      If you think the stock price will increase after earnings, then your best bet would be to sell an OTM put option. If the stock price does increase and IV collapses, both of those things will significantly reduce the value of the put option...this is what you want as an option seller.

      The sweet spot is around 30 to 45 days to expiration.This is when time decay begins to really accelerate and you'll still be able to collect decent premium.

    10:00 Each time I decide to take profit, it ends up going quite a bit higher, making me wish I let the winner ride (but when I actually decide to do that, the following day it goes the opposite direction) :D lol
    I think my biggest pain point with "Covered Calls" have been where stock goes to the moon, my stocks gets called away and I have to settled for selling the stock for lot lower. This happens with stocks that were previously moving sideways ... it's like market is playing trick on me ....🤣😂

      You can always avoid assignment on a covered call by rolling the contract to the next expiration cycle...and you'll collect additional credit by doing so :)

    hi, hate to be a skeptic… but i’ve watched multiple of your videos. you said you started with $15k two years ago and that you aim for 2% returns each month. that just doesn’t add up anywhere close to 1.2 million. even if you added $1k of your monthly income into the portfolio ex ninth, plus 3% monthly return is only $62k after 24 months if you started from $15k. so how did you ACTUALLY make that much? you would have averaged 20% return every month +1k monthly income added to make these numbers you claim even possible

    Trying to figure out when selling puts and I want to have shares assigned should I go in the money one level because I keep collecting premium but my strike price is staying below the current market value. I am wanting to buy the shares so I can start trading covered calls.

    • @scottreesetradinginvesting7936
      @scottreesetradinginvesting7936 2 роки тому

      If you want the shares, there's no real point in selling puts that are in the money. Yes you'll collect a higher credit, but part of that credit is intrinsic value...which you'll just end up giving back from the assignment if it does happen. Best to sell at-the-money puts in this case.

    My mistake: selling weekly puts on AMC and NVDA. then eventually getting my puts assigned. I then started selling weekly calls on my assigned shares, as the price of the stock went lower I sold weekly calls with lower strike prices, and then the price of AMC rose sharply, my AMC calls got assigned. But the strike price was way lower than what I bought the shares for, so I loss money. But the biggest mistake I kinda have a hard time admitting thats a mistake is that I'm using a whole bunch of margin for the NVDA shares and when/if I get margin called I am going to lose alot of money.

    Mistake: Being correct on the direction but being too far out from the current strike price sacrificing profits in the short term which is what I wanted and actually taking a loss even though I was in the right direction. Trade near the stock price and do not go for the big win.

      You’re right. There are very obvious catalyst days for certain stocks. For instance when Elon stopped selling it was clear tesla would go up. You don’t need to buy a month or year out because you know it’s gonna go up that day. So you buy it for the end of the week at a very close strike price. I think you win more than you lose this way and if for some reason it retraces two percent you can sell

    Robinhood has options watchlists now… I practiced with certain stocks and it keeps track of when you started tracking and your gains / losses since that point. Also helps you to track the IV over time so you can find a good entry point… but the options I play with are crypto related so that number is usually pretty high anyway and can play big in your favor.

    At 10:15 yes it would be nice to have those 100+ percent returns but you never know when(if) a reversal is gonna come into play so why not play it safe and take profit instead of holding especially for a newbie become I've been in trades where I was like up 40 or 50% and then it drops back down to 10 to 20%. Also alot of people can't afford to put in 2k on a option for a year out
