The show doesn't dwell on it too much (it might be explained a little better in the future) but basically, the reason why Rudeus can use voiceless magic is because he visualizes the magic occurring. The chants are there to make it so no visualization is needed. But if you visualize it you can bypass the chant, making magic way more efficient and even tricky in combat situations. Think of it like doing math in your head vs doing it on paper

This is the Granddad of isekai. This is what spun the genre out of control. If this is your first isekai. Say hello to truck-kun's first kill. This is what started that cliche. Alot of cliches are derived from here. The light novels of this is one of the few books that has ruled over me for few weeks after finishing it. I felt empty and sad that it was over but at same time really glad and happy for the characters. This story has such great character development , motivation, drive, depth. The story follows him from birth to death quite literally. You grow with him. Feel what he is feeling and grow along side him. Tell me an anime where the protagonist ages during it. And it actually shows it. This is what endeers the reeder/watcher because its parallel with the real world. I hope and pray they animate it fully. And do it the justice it deserves. Definetely worth the watch. Spoiler: Semi Spoiler below regarding his love-relationships: Its a harem but its harem done right. Finite amount and there is reasoning for each one. No its not one of those types of harem that all the girlls swoon over the guy and the guy doesnt have the balls to pick one of them. He picks all of em and does jutice by each of em. They even decide on a sex schedule for him. leaving him drained lol. They have kids. And the love intrests arent walking planks of woods with boobs glued in front. Their characters are growing along with the main char.
Yeah the harem part of the series probably is one of its strongest point since the three of them are the most important people in Rudy’s life. It is not a story about immortality or achieving eternal life but it is a story of a do-over in life by a 34-year old NEET who has lost all hopes in life after his experiences in school, home and life itself in his past life. It really is one of those series that grew alongside me and this is also one of those series that made me a better person through and through (I know that sounds cliche but that is how good this series is).
Appropriate that her first isekai is the one that started a lot of the current tropes. As you watch it, it may seem a little derivative at times, but keep in mind that it was originally written back in 2012.

this story is so fucked up that it's so good. It's started off somewhat light-hearted now, but this is one of those series where the drama will just physically hurt you.
FYI roxy is 34 years older than rudy, it's just her race stops aging around 10 and they have a life span of about 200 years. So there is a bigger gap there than you think.
