I read the other day that when Bob Dylan heard the 'Odelay' album, he said, "I want to make a record that sounds like that."
Beck opened a show in 1995 for Johnny Cash in LA and JC was so impressed by him that he covered Beck's "Rowboat" from 'Stereopathic Soulmanure' on his "Unchained" album. He said it sounded like something he (JC) might've written or might've done in the 60s when he was going through some 'weird times'.
Short story: Beck is nothing short of amazing. Worth a deep dive, for sure.
