Echo vs. Reverb: The most misused audio term!!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- I cringe when I hear people say their room is "echoey," because, it's just not.
If you need to “get rid of echo in a room,” you actually probably just have a lot of reverb, or reverberation, not echo.
I am a stickler for doing things the right way, and "echo" gets misused so much by non-audio people and it just drives me nuts!
I encourage you to learn the difference here and learn the proper terminology to describe your, possibly, terrible sounding room.
Enjoy!!!

The best description i have gotten so far.Thank you so much
You're welcome!! Cheers
Yes, I'm that person who gets it confused from time to time. Thank you for this breakdown!
You're welcome, I'm glad you found this video helpful :)
Really well explained, thank you!
Hi there, thank you! Glad it helped.
Learned a lot, thank you!
Awesome! Thank you, I'm glad the information and video helped :)
This was so helpful... thank you.
I'm glad it was helpful! You're welcome.
Aside from the long intro. This explanation is Fantastic!
Thanx! Yeah, I've been working on trying to shorten my banter and finger-wagging, this info could definitely be explained in a shorter way, but, hey, I'm learning :) Thank you! I'm glad the video helped :)
Well explained
Thank you
Thank you. And you’re welcome :)
Amazing explanation
Thank you Jay :)
Thanks bro !
You’re welcome :)
This was very helpful, but I will say that I will continue to use echo when I mean reverb because I figure, either most people won't understand me or think that I am putting my "airs" on. I will just have to grit my teeth when someone corrects me for saying a room is echoey. 😊
aaaaawwwwwwwwww............well, I'm glad you now know the difference, I just cringe when I hear the wrong term!!! Cheers!
How df does this video has only 200 views
🤷🏼 I don't know, I'm just doing my best to spread the knowledge!
@@MarcusHutsell I just fixed my comment I hope you didn't read it as negative comment. what I meant was that the video should have much more views than it has now.
@@abdrnasr Hi there U. Yes, no worries, I didn't see it as negative comment, I think I took the comment how you meant it :) I think, *maybe, sometimes I suffer from not getting to the point quick enough and *maybe that makes people not watch the whole video. But I address that first thing in the video. The answer to the echo-.vs.-reverb question could be answered more quickly, but, for newbies, I thought it would be important to do a little more explanation.
Anyway, I appreciate it. I've been trying to grow my youtube channel, it's certainly been tough the past few months as I've been very busy with work........which actually and luckily is in live-event, and recorded-event/live stream production. So, I get to apply my audio/video/lighting skills and interest in my work, and I pull from things I've learned over the years to turn around and get that info out here on UA-cam.
I just wish I had more time to make more videos, but I'm working on it.
Cheers, and thanx again.
I think I know how to visualize the two of them
Great! Hopefully this helps. Reverb is like what you hear in maybe a big, tile, bathroom.......it's a "long" sound or tail. Echo is literally a distinct "reply" of a sound source, it can be fast or slow, and we usually experience more fast echo in our every day environments. But, *most of what we hear is reverberation or reverb.
