Chris Stapleton has the midas touch because everything he sings turns to gold. My favorite songs are Death Row, Sometimes I Cry, Either Way & Barely Alive. He's just amazing. I love his cover of James Brown's song It's a Man's World.
Exactly! He is in a genre of his own! Soul, blues, just damn Chris Stapleton! He can make a fender talk! I’m going to see him in Atlanta Oct 12th. I’m not a country fan, but this man! I was Wrong is my favorite also! Check out the live with Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake! Not a big Justin fan, but those two together are fire!
Chris has been around for a LONG TIME, most people don't know because he played in a BLUEGRASS band, and almost no one listened to bluegrass except other musicians, because other musicians know how good and how skilled you have to be as a player, to play bluegrass. Bluegrass went more mainstream, when the movie Oh Brother Where Art Though, came out. He played in a band called Steel Drivers, it was like hearing Bluegrass with Robert Plant doing vocals, it was truly amazing, look at some of their videos, he played in a rock band too but they weren't "bubblegum" enough, so they weren't a big hit either. But anyone who EVER heard Chris sing, knew instantly, that he was THE REAL DEAL, and an AMAZING SINGER. He's no one hit wonder, he more then paid his dues. He's a great singer, songwriter and guitar player, and deserves all the acolades he's now getting, he EARNED THEM.
"I don't even like country music . . . " I am so damn sick of that tired line. At the upper levels, every genre has great musicians and vocalists. If one is willing to look, each has something to offer. Stapleton is living proof when it comes to country.
This came out about two years before Traveller. It was supposed to be the lead single ahead of a record, but it BOMBED in Nashville and the album was scrapped -- we've never heard it, although I would think he's used some of those songs since. He could not get much bigger gigs than what you saw here -- playing in a radio station studio. He put out Traveller in 2015, and it was properly acclaimed as "roots country/Southern rock", but the explosion came when he teamed up with Timberlake in the CMAs six months after its release. It went from off the charts to No. 1, as he sold 153,000 actual units in the days following that duet.
Check out Broken Halos, Sometimes I Cry, his 2015 CMA performance with Justin. Timberlake, and he wrote a song for one of Justin's albums called Say Something that is awesome. Gotta see both the live version and the video. The video is Kick-Ass and was recorded in one take.
Great reaction dude! Check out Chris Stapleton from his The Jompson Brothers Southern rock days! "Inside Your Head"; "Barely Alive" (acoustic) and his version of The Allman Brothers "Whipping Post" are some of my faves! His new album Starting Over is badass, too! Peace, love and stay safe! 🔥🤘
Travis Tritt plus many more. Go back. Listen to long haired country boy from Travis Tritt. There are many country singers. The basis of Blue Grass where Chris started from is a whole new big world where you can get very lost. Good voices. Definitely pioneering in instrumental techniques that not only paved the way for secular music outside of gospel but was the foundation of the ‘Blues’ as well. There were Irish slaves with black slaves. They had church together. They sand together. The roots came from there. Country and Blues are very much the same roots. But it still comes back to the old island singing of Irish men who escaped chains to the hilltops in the Smokey Mountains. It was a refuge that would put a whole new start to music in which the entire world would listen to eventually.
I adore Chris Stapleton! I think you would like Jonny Lang. You should check him out. Maybe do a reaction to Breaking Me. Should you do it keep in mind he was like 16 years old when he sang that song. How a child of 16 has the ability to project that much heartbreak and soul into music is absolutely astounding!! and he's a helluva guitar player
Atleast you're beeing fucking honest, i like that, and i totally agree with everything you sad and cursed about. Stapleton is the real deal. Is it possible to say unique? Hell yeah!!!!!
#DifferenceofOpinion ... He is very talented and I love his voice and you should give 'Fool Me Again' a listen, link provided - (ua-cam.com/video/JiCVtF9Yma/v-deo.html). And if you don't know Stevie Ray Vaughan I highly recommend checking out his music, blues with some soul and phenomenal on guitar. I would start with 'Texas Flood - Live' then 'Voodoo Chile - Live' just to give you an idea of what he's about. SRV was an absolute genius, couldn't read music but simply amazing. In my opinion.
If you love CS, here's an early version almost no one knows about - I love a show called, "Jamin" at Hippy Jacks". I watch it because some of my friends play there. About a month ago I tripped over an episode, that had these guys, (The SteelDrivers) and I thought, hmmmm. that sounds like Chris Stapleton. You know the rest. Here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/_6Au0xCg3PI/v-deo.html (it a full set, but you could probably pick out a tune you like)
Check out these 2 songs by these two diferent artists Drake White - makin me look good again Marc Broussard - lonely night in Georgia Chris Stapelton - death row
The speed on this video is too fast/high. Making him sound like he's on helium or something. Yeah, too fast. You can tell by his "Thank you" at the end.
I can tell you what it is. That's not a country song. Much of what he does isn't country. It's R&B, Soul etc. Don't let a cowboy hat or a southern drawl confuse you.
Glad you agree. Sorry it took you a yr to make this crap. Nice stolen hotel art. Hates a strong word. Especially to throw it against a genre of music. Grant you since the late 90s, you have to dig for quality. But, it’s no different than your hair line behind that bandanna. It’s there. U just have to uncover it. Thanks
It's that VOICE. It grabs you.. and makes you listen.
Definitely my favorite Chris Stapleton song. This is also my favorite version.
Chris Stapleton has the midas touch because everything he sings turns to gold. My favorite songs are Death Row, Sometimes I Cry, Either Way & Barely Alive. He's just amazing. I love his cover of James Brown's song It's a Man's World.
I love this song!! One of my favs of Chris.
I believe it was his wife that encouraged him to step out on his own.
not only her. Other artists, too.
HOW THIS WAS NOT A NUMBER 1 SMASH HIT I HAVE NO CLUE. DO YOU?
ive heard him described as alien his voice is outta this world a genre of his own you cant put him into just 1 category
Love the rythym and style of this song..similar to the style of David Gates and Bread from the'70's..love it
so well put! I dont really like country either, but holy crap he is amazing
His voice though! I Was Wrong and Sometimes I Cry are my favorites 💜
Yeah. Same here, heard him a year ago. Blowin minds and hearts!
He is absolutely amazing!!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥💯💯💯
Saw him in Austin, Tx. Went out of my mind.
Excellent reaction!!!!! Well spoken and the truth!!!!!
I like u give the artist the stage and u sit in the back ground. I subbed for that reason.

Im a big CS follower and my personal fav is Death Row. omg you can really feel that song.
That's my favorite too!

Love Chris. I'll get back here. There's one called If it wasn't for love.
Chris defies description, but you did a good job. I hope to hear more.
he wrote the song " drink a beer" which luke bryan made a hit, but you need to hear chris's version live at his high school in johnson county ky.
found him a month ago and I am middle-aged woman I like almost all genres of music
"I don't even like country music . . . "

Thank YOU!!! So well said!
And the fact he have to swear every few words is so stupid gonna dislike his video for sure
He comes from Willie, Waylon, Haggard that linage.. Old School my lane.👍🏼✌🏼
I like your reactions to country..lol...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠
2015 CMA Awards show performance that really got him noticed. He had severe stage fright and his wife Morgane got him through it.

If you haven't done Death Row by Chris, might want to give it a listen. His full on genius is on tap on Death Row.

Check out the acoustic version of "Barely Alive" if you wanna hear more of Stapleton. It's badass.
Thanks Logan..I'll check it out
Thank god he did step up
He doesn't artificially change his voice to sound cliche country and he doesn't pander.
You can put it on repeat
I adore Chris Stapleton! I think you would like Jonny Lang. You should check him out. Maybe do a reaction to Breaking Me. "Deathrow" is where it"s at.
Atleast you're beeing fucking honest, i like that, and i totally agree with everything you sad and cursed about. Stapleton is the real deal. Is it possible to say unique? Hell yeah!!!!!
It grows on you, till you can't stop playin it.
You should do a reaction to "fire away" by Chris Stapleton
React to Stevie Ray Vaughan if you like blues. He's the GOAT!! Start with Texas Flood at El Macambo or Inauguration Party. You will be hooked!!

Death row. Check it out.
I don't think he just got tired of being the background I think his master's were keeping him from being in the spotlight
I can tell you what it is. That's not a country song. Much of what he does isn't country. It's R&B, Soul etc. Don't let a cowboy hat or a southern drawl confuse you.
