How is 80s vibes so futuristic yet so vintage at the same time?
Edit : Thank you all for your brilliant point of views ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ having much fun reading your perspectives
You put it perfectly
200 years futuristic, yet reminds of dark alleys of 80s
Magic
Synthwave (what this is), is inspired by 80s synth music - the “vintage” part.
80s synth music was inspired by the Sci-Fi genre - the “futuristic” part.
However, I’m not too sure if I’m correct but I believe it is something along the lines of what I have just said.
I remember being a teen in the 80’s. Just remembering it hurts, the nostalgia hurts the most. I remember driving past the Kremlin and seeing the Soviet flag flying, I remember buying cigarettes out of vending machines and climbing buildings all over Moscow with my friends. In 1990 it all really ended for me, I got in car crash my girlfriend died in my arms a year later are nation was destroyed I had no place, no hope, love on hate.
I was a freshman in high school in 1983. I'm 50 years old now and still love this type of music that was around back then. So much has changed since then the world is a different place now, but the feel of this music takes me back... That's why I'm here listening to this!
Vibe on man!
P L D it's amazing how the 80s music is so futuristic but vintage all at the same time
dank memes
I was born in '83.
@@RealMTBAddict Good year to be born!

You mean it's all my fault? I thought I was cursed or something.
thats exactly how this song makes you feel haha
Hahahahhahahaha

@@oo7moses Hindsight is a great thing isn't it, I look at it now like this. If I didn't make all those mistakes back then I wouldn't know what I know now. It's all on you to do better now, it's all on you to be better now.
All these Synthwave artists like Timecop1983 and The Midnight etc. Need to be in Cyberpunk 2077.
To be honest, I dont think that game is going to live up to the hype, just like the rest. Timecop 1983 however, do. So, happy days.
Búri I have enormous expectation for cyberpunk 2077,especially for the music.I want to feel that game with all my fiber
@@xsirdavidianx you have a valid point, that's why I play mostly independent Games, and not AAA titles.
RIGHT?!
I dont think there's going to be any of this in cyberpunk 2077 after seeing their vids about the artists in the game. I still hope to be able to listen to stuff like this
This whole 80s Throwback Counter Culture is my home
Were we capable of going to the stars at that time, we were meant to... But instead the powers that be choked the life out of us and gave up 'warming hysteria' instead...
This hauntology thing is pretty great.
Yessss!
Mine too.
@@josephgrey1787 the powers that be decided we should be a species that flounders on this planet until we atrophy and die, I hope we change that, the stars and all their mysteries belong to us.
Synthwave is like the sound of both the future and the past in a dystopian world where people cling to when times were better without realizing the times they turn to set in motion their dystopia. It's musical genius
@AmericanWacko7 This may very well be one of the greatest UA-cam comments that I've ever read. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
We desperately clutch to the past, ironically writing the deathly manuscript that is the future.
@@HarmonicVector And forgetting to live and cherish the present moment…
@@aichachedia2761 It's time to slow down
Ironicly, we live in that future. My country is about to disintegrate, people here cannot afford living, everyone committing suicide because of economical problems and the whole society is depressed. I cling to such songs because this is all I have. Such a dystopia is already happening here, in Turkey. You just don't know about it and don't see it. I wish I was never born, existence here feels so heavy it crushes my soul every single day.
This is what a Night Drive in 2049 sounds like.

yeah but it was only a dream
Or today in Miami at night
M83 - Midnight City and Reunion are very interesting too :)
Or in 2080 till 2089 ;-)
to think in 2049, people like us will listen to 2049 style 80s synthwave and think about 2090.
This song instantly takes me back to a place I’ve never been before, to a time which doesn’t exist in a place that never was.
A masterpiece. Five years later, this song is next to impossible to beat.
You wait, in anticipation for the epic beat drop, but it never comes.
*It was only a dream.*
But you accept it..
Wow
Your comment encapsulates the song beautifully, my friend
And then Urban Train by Tiesto kicks in.
The 80s was the best time to be alive, there will never be another time like it, wish I could go back!
I wish paradise is living on 80's
all that cocaina huh
All that racism!
Lucky u were there!
Not just 'Racism' no. We had nothing but love in a time of adversity. We had the dream of a brighter tomorrow. The world wasn't what we imagined it would become. I miss it too.
You are on a lonely island, just by the edge of a small wood cabin facing the sea. You're with a gorgeous, kind and perfect woman, laying on your shoulder. You hear the calm sea rushing to the sand, and admire a mesmerizing sunset on the horizon. Everything seems like paradise, and you dont even question yourself how you got here, you're just enjoying a moment of pure joy.
Then you begin to hear some strange loud noises, and rains against a roof, even if there isnt a single cloud outside.
Suddenly, everything is collapsing: the sky is turning black, the shore is disappearing. In a moment of fear you grab the woman hand, and she starts looking at you, as everything around you is vanishing.
She asks you, "are you okay ?" As her face fades away.
"Where am I ? Who is this girl ? I cant remember her name... Do I really know her ?"
But you already know you cant answer these questions, because you're slowly getting awake, woke up by the rain tapping the windows, alone in your dark bedroom, with a weird feeling of mixed love and regret, for a world existing only in a dream of yours..
Nice story!
You put my feelings into words.
Nice
Risky Business? haha..... Lana is that you? Joel???
That perfectly pictures my feelings and emotions while listening to this
i felt like this was the ending of a movie that never actually ends its so beautiful

Feels like im in some retro futurist space adventure. floating through space in some dark cyberpunk spaceship that still uses cassette tapes and crt monitors, orbiting an ominous planet
Welcome to this universe ! Feel free to explore as you wish
I literally imagine exactly the same! Just sitting in my cockpit, putting my ship on the autopilot, and quietly floating through space while observing the beauty of the galaxies 🌌
this paints such beautiful imagery for me. swoon. 🖤🖤🖤
_"Wake up Astronaut. We've got a space station to burn."_
Well, geez, what other tech would they use? 😆
I love the rain sounds at the end. Reminds me of Blade Runner.
It’s currently raining here in South Carolina, 11:37pm , relaxing with joint , listening to this in my Nissan Frontier , just having that tunnel vision to the future , and learn from what happened in the past.
There is a video of this with imagery from blade runner 20??. Bad memory on the one part of the name detail.
Great video, great song. I actually discovered timecop from that video.
Incredible track. Synthwave has quickly become one of my favourite genres in music.
Long live Generation X....we are still chilling.....
If you ever need music to escape reality for a while, Timecop is your go-to.
This is where we should’ve stopped, the future beyond this is unnecessary
This makes me wonder what happened in my life in the other timelines.
when the musical world enters a out of body trance.
There is only one word - transcendent.
There are few times in a person's life when that inexplicable feeling washes over oneself, this is on the soundtrack for those times.
The rain...
Oh I love that word. My entire world is based on it and is explained by it.
Reminds me of hot summer nights starring up at the beautiful night sky all those stars glaring on the beach

The saddest part of hearing this kind of music, is that I actually grew up in the time when synthesized music was popular, and now I have to listen to this to relive my childhood just to go back to better days.
Born in 76 as a scifi nerd and grew up listening to stuff like this. Feels like every sound and every note tingle a memory!

Feel like I'm diving around space In my 1985 camaro iroc z with the t tops, smoking a cig and letting my 80s hairstyle flow in the breeze
Listening to this on ketamine made me cry
There is something unusual about this music - it is nostalgic and futuristic at the same time. It would seem that it bends time and exists in all realms past; present & future
Thank god it wasn’t only a dream and this track is real.
man, these vibes, no words can describe that
Try those:
Miami nights - accelerated
Zombie hyperdrive - red eyes
Lazerhawk - hypnic
Paradelus - power slam
Nero - innocence
I love miami nights!!
Definitely will look for these when I finish this song.
Update: I just finished this playlist. You got good taste in house music, stranger! I especially dug "Power Slam."
Also you should check out RTHR - Neon Jungle
@@Gyrfalcon312 nice, but i'm not sure any of them are house music

Best track of this album. Period.
Thank you!!

That rain at the end fits perfectly for this song, and it's so relaxing
Nostalgic !!! 🥺🥰❤️ Memories ✨✨✨✨
Take me back to those times 😭 The best teenage years of my life 😢❤❤❤
My favourite Synthwave music
Okay this makes me feel 80's nostalgia and 2075 future nostalgia 🤧
I am in front of a time portal to the 80s ... I look back just for a moment and I look at the year 2021 ... I don't want to be there anymore ... I will stay in the 80s forever!
Amazing track!!
When you feel the summer night. Driving down the hills in your car. That's what I've ever wanted
Timecop1983, the Midnight, Trevor Something = longing for something elusive
I feel like I'm in the retro-future 80's, a whole adventure in a song, incredible!
Subconsciously taking you to a deeper level...
The best synth is slow burn synth. This track is GOLD!
Lol I've been preaching about how great the 80s were for 20 yrs, so all of this is just vindication and justice for me.😎👍👉
I was born in 1999, but all good music comes from the 80s. It's got good vibes to it and its easier to listen to. Not as chunky as newer music, but obviously that has it's own roll to play
!"They can't stop us let em try, for HEAVY METAL we will die!"
*\,,/👹\,,/* ~ lets ROCK
This track is incredible.
Unbelievably good. Perhaps the greatest synthwave track ever composed.
Thanks!!!
Truth!
It's like looking at the one star. So dim next to what every one else looks at. It's that one star that has to survive. Because its special to me and who ever gets this post.
A world of neon lights and electronic music...... that's life just how it was intended to be!
I wish i could go back into the 80s
I wish I could go back to 2006 when I was 22 years old and my dad was alive and healthy and my mom didn’t have Alzheimer’s yet
i love you so much. This music has been the exact type of sound that puts my ears in heaven
😍😙🙋💖🙏
Take me away, Timecop.~
Back to 1983)))
This is my favourite synthwave song of all time. Just so calming and peaceful.
Even though the film Point Break came out in 1991, I feel this song would've matched up perfectly with that movie. Especially during the skydiving and surfing scenes and seeing Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves all smiles with this song playing in the background would've been legendary.
Don't worry 90-92 we're pretty much the last true years of the 80s before it took its own identity
Perfect choice of music.
This is the sound of my lost childhood.......God bless you!
Just Look up to the sky with this tune on!!
1983, still remember it as the year I graduated high school. No cell phones, no CDs, had to listen to records & tapes. Phones were in homes & booths. Credit cards were difficult to get and weren’t accepted in a lot of places.
Definitely get a Blade Runner vibe to this !!!
It was in the movie DRIVE
tangerine dream it sounds like love on a train a bit
I'm getting Kavinsky - Blizzard vibe from this
This track is the finest of the best of synthwave, is the final boss, is the one that show what this genre of music come for: CYBERNOSTALGIA
I mean, everything with a title like this has to be great
Nostalgic, surreal, and enchanting. Great track.
Sometimes you need aggressive, high energy Synthwave and/or Dark Synth to take your BODY places. Sometimes you need existential and softer tunes like this to take your MIND places. In their own ways, when I listen to them, I weep for what could have been.
What do you mean? Like, you weep for possibly having existed at this time? Or a possible and better future due to a revolutionary invention with its roots in the 80s?
Past and future is the same. What changed? Maybe it depends on how we look at life and what make out of it. Our goals and our purpose.
@@identitymatrix I weep for a better future. Imo a lot of dystopian retro future stories are driven by corporate takeovers of life due to unending greed. I think real life is the same but without the cool stuff and 80s vibe in the retro future stories. Real life is just so bland by comparison.
I always get goose bumps with this song and a cold shiver comes over me! Unique and indescribable!
Being born in 1983 I just think it's so cool there is a band named TimeCop 1983
The past and the future are the same. The past *is* our future.
Dude !!! this track is a killer ... you have just moved to a nother level in creativity.
The best album ending I ve ever heard. The way how you made this song, as it is sounds very similar to the Nightfall in the beginning but later coming into more deep and low sound... Awesome.. This feature makes you think that the whole album before was not real, makes you think that it was only a dream
20 out of 10
Brilliant comment! Was going to write something similar!)
this is 80's music and yet it feels so futuristic, I love it!
I sometimes wish I was in the 80's
This has introduced a new era of time to me;everyone.
This reminds me of the beautiful night sky. I used to watch the sky for hours. I imagined what it would be like living among the stars. ☺
The thing is- you are living among the stars

Brings back memories of 80s
This piece strikes me a particularly hopeful. Not in a concrete sense but as a pleasant feeling that no matter what hardship may come, everything will be okay, a brighter future awaits even those buried the deepest in life’s problems.
It’s a real surprise since synth wave is usually nostalgic and makes me reminisce about the good ol days. This is like the future good ol days
It's this type of synth that inspires hope, I think. 😎
This music was ahead of its time 🥰🤯😲🥳
Anyone else feel a mixture of happiness and sadness hearing this. That's the kind of vibes it gives off on me mostly sad, I've listened to this alot when my father passed away back in 2019.
I'm Sorry 😞 for your Loss 💐🌺🌹 🙏, Losing someone you love ❤️ is never easy to deal with, This music 🎶 makes me wonder 🧐🤔 about the Future, While giving me feelings of Nostalgia when it comes to the memories I've had throughout Life.
This is the track I play when driving through downtime LA to get to work.
Timeless! It's like riding down the street as a child with your friends on your bicycle. Nostalgia and hope yet sadness pushing you on, not a care in the world, you are alive right now and that's ok, you feel everything.
Only recently started getting into synth wave. This is by far the best song I’ve heard. Laying in bed and imagining a good life while this plays is the most peaceful thing ever.
You got a long journey to go through! I started listening to synthwave music 4 years ago and it's sure been an amazing experience.
@@The13Erne any recommended songs? I'm new too 6-7 months in.
I was into metal, as cliche as it sounds i was born again and can't listen to it anymore. I mean no one stopped me, it just doesn't sound the same anymore. This genre replaced my metal collection.

If the theme song to the 1983 movie Risky Business, "Tangerine Dream" were ever remixed, I imagine it would sound like this. Absolutely sublime!
Love this, its Point Break and Bloidsport, Awesome
This track deserves over a billion views in my opinion. I am extremely fortunate to have been born in this time, just so i could listen to this . This is my favorite track of this genre of music. I have honestly lost count of many times i have listened to this track. An Artist like yourself only comes just once in a life time. The closest thing to a time machine.Thank you from the bottom of my heart Timecop 1983.
Awesome song! I witnessed the 80s, it was magical time. It's like some part inside of us was left in the 80s and we get to visit that part inside us and say hello to it by listening to music like this. This kind of music opens the gates to our inner realms that were left in the 80s. It is comforting, but also sad, because we can't go back.
this kind of music is so welcome. especially when drug influences (weed/thc) consuming on your own in lonely nights gives you lots of more satisfying moments and emotions than real life experiences ever did. when your personality and visual nature is always been denied (at the age of 52) you are going to become ill some days. and begin to change your mind... sad but true.
Creating new memories in the past.
i Love This Song .... Wonderful Melodys
