KalePrincess I have kept chickens as companion pets for almost 7 years now and they made me into a vegetarian with in a few weeks. But I get what the above post is saying, to see them happy instead of misery makes her feel better. I know the suffering of farmed chickens will never end and I educate anyone who is willing to listen. I spoil my chickens so much it is insane! For instance my husband will take a lunch at work just to come home and ice their water in hot weather. I treat them like little princesses and adopt older hens. I know it is a small effort, but I wish I could make up for how the entire species is treated by humans.

Morning time is when sweet, mother-of-life commits her crime. She sets them free and has 'scratch' out for them after a night of hunger . . . AND THEN "SWEET MOTHER OF LIFE" STRIKES . . . she makes off with the eggs. And goes back inside and coos to her husband and keeps the kids in line.
I recently just lost 8 chickens by a stupid fox and some had heart attacks. .. I AM CRYING AND IM SO SAD! They killed my favorite chicken I've had for 6 years!
What happens to the little roosters, there is a 50/50 % chance that it's a rooster or a hen. But of course the rooster do not lay eggs so they are destroyed right after birth. Btw one egg contains more cholesterol then the daily recommended amount. #GoVegan
Except humans aren't evovled to eat only plants. We have only one stomach and its not even very good at digesting plant material. I do agree with more plant in diet, but humans just can't biologically sustain for long on plant without some health issues. Essential fat for one.

You didn't mention whether eggs contain HDL or LDL cholesterol, so I guess your info is a little outdated, or just speculative. Varied and balanced diet works best :)
