You are not stupid. We all have things that we do not know. I am proud of you for looking for the answers and then letting me know that you appreciated my efforts. Thank you.
I used to be very bad at this, but after very details you walk us through.I have a better understanding now. Thanks for the video. It means the world to me.
It was my pleasure. Something that I did not add to the video is a point on how to reduce them. If the numerator (the number on top) is an even number, you can further reduce the fraction. For example, 2/4 can be reduced to 1/2 and 6/16 can be reduced to 3/8.
thanks a million for years i never knew how to read a ruler correctly or just didnt know what to call 1/8th to 1/16th markings and only knew it by inches, like others you made this so easy thanks thanks thanks
Thank you for taking the time to post this explanation on reading a ruler. I appreciate the fact that you used the kiss method. Over the years I only knew how to read the 1/2 and 1 inch marks.
I want a friend to help sew some clothing. He told me where to measure and I was like ok, I can do measurement until I handle the ruler, then I became a dummy ;) leading to stumbling to this tutorials. Helpful and educational. Thank you, Allen Morris for sharing these simple things that add values to life.
Thank you. My sister is a quilter and has shared this video with her on line quilter groups several times. she's done the same with some of my geometry videos too. keep-a-learning. . .
Thank you! I have a better understanding! As an adult, this is one skill I rarely use. The old saying holds true, "If you don't use it, you'll lose it."
Thank you, Allen! I am an RMA and we never studied on how to use a measuring tape. My measurements was always off and that worried/scared me. Now I feel more confident in my measuring skills. Keep up the good work. :-)
Not the same thing. We work under the supervision of doctor's. CNA's work under nurses. We perform various medical task, such as; immunizations, venipunctures, referrals, UA's, hearing and vision tests. The list goes on. Hope that helped!

Excellent job reviewing the use of tape measurements, Thanks for the support for my Welding Students. T J (Tom) Vanderloop, AWS (American Welding Society) Member & Technology-teacher
+Kandy Harding Thank you. Many homeschool groups use my stuff. Feel free to look through my channel and help yourself. I also take requests in many cases so let me know how I can help. Allenmorris@yahoo.com
Thank you so much I might have said this before. But since I had to come back for a refresher course, Ill say it again. THANK YOU so much.I like the way you explain it.the examples and the way you allow the watcher to guess before yo give the answer.
thanks man, I'm not good at measuring stuff and the first time I've entered my woodshop class, I felt like an idiot because i didn't even know what i was doing lol. Thank you so much
Thank you very much for teaching and enabling me to understand measurement. I am now confident to score measurements to start a craft project. Thank you again this video is invaluable to me and I am sure to many.
Thank you for the help. It will help a lot for my knitting socks;) I made a diagram of all the ruler fractions you showed & going keep it in a safe place in case I forget ;)
Thank you so much, in my tech class our teacher gave us a diagnostic test to see if we could read rulers in centimetres and inches, and after he marked the tests, he said 90 percent had not gotten the inches part correct, and now we're doing it again and he's actually going to mark us this time. P.S. We live in Canada
Thank you so much! I'm trying out for a high school tomorrow & some of the questions on the test are about reading measurements on a ruler. plus you uploaded this on my birthday :D
6/16 would reduce to 3/32. Rules for rulers only: If the top number is even you need to reduce. Just take half of both the numerator (top) and denominator (bottom). Repeat until you get an odd number for a numerator.
Thank you. This was one of the first lessons that I put together in this format and I have learned so much since. I feel that I need to remake this including all of the things that I have learned. I appreciate your kind comments.
Allen, thank you for helping me read the ruler. I watched some other videos, but you broke it down and explained it so that I understand...I got stuck when you got to the 2 5/8...hahaha....but then you counted the 1/8ths...oh, yeah!.....(you have a kind and patient demeanor). :)
This video was very helpful. I was having trouble in my agriculture program drawing the inch to the sixteenth but now I completely understand. Thank you.
Wow, that is a great point. I will add it to the updated version of this video as I have learned a great deal about how to make better videos since I made this one.... I truly appreciate your comments. Allen
Thank you. Yes, the whole inch system is really messy and we should have moved to the Metric System long ago but we are just being stupid. Good luck with your efforts and thank you again for your kind words. Cheers from Texas.
If I had a 1 inch wide 5'7'' wide wooden cage board being east to west position , & the same on top same position , how long are the wooden board's in the middle that are north to south position , if I'm making a cheap looking duck temporally cage , or table rectangle shape cage , having 3 or four in the middle north to south position's on the long wall side , & having 2 in north to south position in the middle of the facing side & back side as well having on 2 in the middle , if I want the rectangle being the height in all being 3 foot & 6 inches tall , being brace's , or support beam's whatever they are called ? .

It was my pleasure. Something that I did not add to the video is a point on how to reduce them. If the numerator (the number on top) is an even number, you can further reduce the fraction. For example, 2/4 can be reduced to 1/2 and 6/16 can be reduced to 3/8.
