Varsity Mariachi Nuevo Santander earned straight Division 1s Superior Rating. Also, the entire group earned 16 individual outstanding performance medals; the only group to have earned that distinct honor during the UIL session 3 performances out of 20 groups. Moreover, from all the 76 mariachi groups from the entire state of Texas that performed during the 3 sessions our varsity mariachi was one of only two groups to have earned all outstanding individual medals and the only group to have done it for three consecutive years.
