That was the most intriguing video on the channel, Hayden. The view from the summit was breathtaking. Thanks for taking us along for the adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it Ray! Thanks and hopefully this inspires some others to get out there and give it a go if they can!
Amazing Scenery!
It’s very nice country
Nice work on bagging a first activation! Quite an incredible one at that. What a beautiful park.
Bet theres some POTA/SOTAs here in the SW that never been activated. W6DKW
It was a lovely walk, not too hot too. Quite a scramble at the end, but heaps of fun
What a great way to stay in shape and enjoy ham radio 😊
Burnt over 1500 calories ;)
Another great video. Thanks for taking us along to view the beautiful scenery! 73, K8JLW
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching along
Great work, Hayden 👏
SOTA, POTA, and IOTA?
Great footage!
Yes - IOTA too (OC-233)
@@HamRadioDX epic 😎 👌
You certainly had your hands full, between the antenna, mic, and phone for logging. And then having to keep an eye on the radio, camera and weather. Congrats and well done!
Haha thanks Mike! I need to get another Gorillapod that wraps around the trig bar a bit better next time, free up a hand! Congrats on 1K subs too, well done
Great job! Weather can change fast on a summit but looked like good fun!
Yeah, as I came back down the shower moved around and the sun came out!
Nice 👍🏻 good to see you out of the shack. SOTA is absolutely the best and a good time .
A great weekend away!
I could hear the music from the trees and animals all over the park. Amazing.
Yep! The Black currawong's make a racket!
i was waiting for the drop bears
Awesome Hayden! Great to work you on the POTA Activation you did on the same day! :) VK4DNO
Thanks Dan! Awesome to get you in the log and thanks for being there to help me with my activation
Great work Hayden.😀😀
Thanks Graeme!
Beautiful Island, even with some bad weather. Looks to have been a great adventure.
It was good fun indeed!
Good job activated such a remote location.
Thank you! It was good to get the contacts and have people there at the other end willing and ready
Great job!
Thanks Tom 👍
My luck I would travel that far and forget my coax. Nice video.
I had to double check I packed everything properly 👍
Great video and activatiin Hayden 👍 there is nothing better than getting out and about in our Australian bush and playing a little radio. Looking forward to your next.
Ps.I think I did hear you on RAA repeater on my way to work but at the time you were a very marginal broken transmission.

Thanks Rodney, yeah I was going via RHT, but it was a bit patchy with the handheld - noisy receiver on Mt Wellington, it was strong enough to receive. So I need to fix that. I also called out on REC
@HamRadioDX great stuff Hayden! ;)
Thanks Dan 👍
Awesome job! Congratulation! 73
Thanks!
Im so glad we made it, I was getting tired just watching you. :)
The weather really changed super quick! Good you made your contacts.
Did you say you took your D75?😮
Yes I did 😂
Is that a San Fran giants hat?
Yep, from my first baseball game
Dropbears are nasty critters not as bad as Bunyips or Yowies but still nasty.
Very true! Yowies I had forgotten about!
They are all over grid square CN! @@HamRadioDX
Go Giants! :) Jim K6JS
You earned those points. And a lovely view.
Got a laugh on the drop bear joke.😀
Drop bears are no joke, friend.
😂
Gotta be careful of those drop bears. They’ll nail you!
Goooo Giants!
Nice hat! Beat LA!
I got it when I went to my first ever baseball game
Could you have taken a push bike with you to the island and ridden it for the first part of the walk?
Ed
(borat voice) Very nice!
Love the Koala see you in Dayton again with one de WO8USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks!
Gday Hayden, Did you see or hear and Tassie devils?
Nope! They are quite common on the island, but usually only come out at night. You’ll hear the screeching outside, but not this time.
Very cool Hayden, hope to work a S2S someday. Best 72 Dave KN4OK
That would be great!
If I was there you would have been pushed into the river🤣😂. Looked like a great day out tried working you about dead quiet over here. Cheers Lance VK6LMK soon to be VK6LK
Haha cheers mate!
Ham radio at its most fun! They say they don't know why you do it, but they are interested in watching you do it enough that they watch you instead of doing anything else of the myriad things they could be doing on their own. Duh.
Would they allow an electric scooter?
I think so. It’s dirt tracks all around. Bikes and e-bikes are allowed
Can you get a helicopter to the top activate then get a helicopter to the next summit?
Not to there. Across the ridge is a comms site which does have a helipad - but that isn't a SOTA summit
@@HamRadioDX but is that within the rules?
@@shanerorko8076 No the other peak isn't a summit... I mean you could take a helicopter there and then walk over if it's possible but there isn't a formed track there
@HamRadioDX so if you got lowered off a helicopter to a summit that is listed and all your radio gear got lowered down, that's totally fine?
I make the assumption that it's against the rules but then again maybe nobody has ever mentioned this in the rules.
I'm asking because you could bring massive antennas then get picked up and make contacts on HF and VHF ect and get massive points fast.
Thanks.
Shane VK1NME.
Oh right, no that wouldn’t be against the rules. You can drive a car to a summit - you just can’t operate from the car
