I use a lot of microave diodes. They are all tiny - typically an 0201 package. They have to be this small to function at microwave frequencies. They must be very short compared to the wavelength. This is not any kind of microwave diode. This is a high voltage diode - a very different thing. I suspect our friend is not a professor.

Diodes meant for use at microwave frequencies have a tiny junction area and are easily damaged by static electric discharge, and so should not be handled like this. But is this device really just a high-voltage rectifier diode from a microwave oven, and so OK for 50 Hz not for microwave signals. Not a microwave diode in the usual sense.
I think these are creative ideas but not very practical. A zener diode is very inefficient in the shown way and making use of the voltage drop is a very specific use case but also inefficient. But I do have a couple of these diodes, therefor I was curious. I think I keep them for repairing a microwave if it ever occurs. Tip: work on the audio. The beginning of sentenses is cut of.
If you have a working microwave diode, the best thing to do with it... ...is to use it to repair a microwave! In other cases, use the correct component for the circuit under consideration.
