      Thanks Nicholas. It probably didn't hurt that color theory was my focus in graduate school.

    The way that you demonstrate and explain is ecellent as are your colour wheels. Thank you. Mind you it is a miracle that I can paint at all as when I took my wife to the hospital for an eye check I could not see any of the numbers that were hidden on the charts that they showed my wife, whilst she could see all of them, all that I could see were various sizes of light green coloured circles !

      @@IntheStudioArtInstructionHi, I do not know, I suppose that I have got used to it until I am reminded by my wife when choosing clothing or decorating the house that something is coloured light green and not white or that it is very dark green and not black. I think that males suffer more with this problem than females.

    Thank you, I’ve never understood the relationships between colours even though I have done courses on painting until now. I am so excited and my enthusiasm has skyrocketed. I think your instruction is the best that’s come my way. I love your roadmap too. Again, thank you.

      In the long run, it is how we use the color that's important. A color wheel is only a guide.

One big take-away from your Quick Tips is the necessity of putting the instruction into practice. Many thanks! I look forward to the next Quick Tip!

    Thanks Dianne. I have been using complements for a long time to tame things down, but in the beginning I truly had to take a moment and ask myself how could I get to the color I wanted. Can’t be in a hurry on that. I’m glad you emphasized the thinking part of this.

    At 8:54 you said the center grey is equal amounts of blue and orange hue. Do you mean equal volume of each pigment? I though you mix them in whatever proportion is needed to get the neutral.

      Lolita, I keep a tube on hand in case I need it, but I have found that mixing the Rembrandt Viridian and Rembrandt transparent oxide red can give me the same color with more flexibility.

    Why isn't munsell colour system...not preferred by artists when that has both all the possible 1) hues2) values ?

    • @IntheStudioArtInstruction
      @IntheStudioArtInstruction  2 роки тому +2

      Sujanith, artists are partial to different theoretical systems. In graduate school, I study the all the major ones, but ended up being partial to the traditional one based on the relationship of hues the most flexible to work with. As artists we need to learn to think within the language of color -- the relationship of hues to one another, how hues change in value and in saturation according to what light and shadow are doing to them. No color wheel can show that.
