This man is one of the pioneers of the new age of beatbox. What a legend. Speaking of which, you should check something recent from him. Here's a vid he did in 2021. Tom Thum 🇦🇺 | Judge Showcase | SBX Kickback Battle 2021
You saw Tom Thum in his tag team loopstation battles with Gene vs Saro and MB14, and the collab the 4 of them did together without loopstations. He’s doing a lot of crazy stuff on TikTok now, I wish he would upload more stuff to UA-cam.
I don't even wanna know where beatbox would be right now without this exact performance. there are so many that say they started either listening to beatbox or beatboxing themselves after this.
Its insane how much love you show. I really, and I mean REALLY enjoy your sencere reactionts to EVERYTHING. Thank you for putting a smile on my face without a fail
I met Tom way back in 2005. I was doing freestyle bmx shows and tom was doing what he does best. He was a beast way back then! I've retired from bmx a while back, but so great seeing Tom still doing his thing and getting the recognition he deserves! Such a great guy...
You need to check out Beardyman at Camp Beastival - The Prequel 2009. He was the first beat boxer to win the UK Championship 2 years in a row (2006 & 2007) and was a judge on the panel in 2008.
I think it’s amazing what they can do with their voices. As always your so generous with your praises. Still trying to get to your patreon , I’ll get there💕
Highly recommend watching his Ratchet Face routine, it's my favorite of Tom! This man is the literal godfather of the beatboxing community, absolute legend!
So good to see you react to this, Tom Thum was my intro to quality beatboxing at small hip hop gigs in Australia in the early 2000s - he is such a down to earth guy too, absolute legend and pioneer
Tom Thum had NO IDEA just how well the audience would receive that show. He was quite clearly moved and had no idea how to handle that. But he absolutely deserved the applause.
This is prob one of the great classic beatbox videos that got a lot of people into beatboxing. also one of, if not the most, viewed video on the TED channel
This was my introduction to beatboxing, i think i saw this video in 2014 for the first time and after that i just fell in love with beatboxing. This video still gives me chills every time i watch it.
My generation was introduced to Michael Winslow. Tom is simply amazing as well. I would love to see them either team up or have a friendly competition on stage. That would be awesome.
OMG I just remembered about the Umbilical Brothers. They mixed Beatboxing and Pantomime as a comedy duo. "Umbilical Brothers - Breakdown" - you will laugh your ass off, I promise.
man amazing reaction as always . u should watch some of his tik tok compilations or some of his tiktoks . hes sone some crazy shit . tom is always one of my top 2 loopers
I know people slept on the last King Inertia & Hershe battle, but their next battle vs Snakes and Ladders is good, and they bring more battle energy. So I’ll still suggest it and also remind people to watch Cliff’s reaction to the first one. ZVD's team "Lotus" is also competing.
Just gonna say that Tom Thum is one of the greatest beatboxers on the planet, he may not be that popular on youtube, but if you ask your favorite beatboxers they are gonna agreed with me. Check more of his content, now he is more of a Shorts and small clips type of content creator. all gold and fire.
This man inspired all the loopers of our world. To do what he did when the rc 505 loopstation wasn’t even a thing yet. No effects, pure talent. This is why he judged gbb loop.
This guy is awesome. I love that beatboxing made an epic comeback and has been taken to another level in recent years. The very first beatboxer I ever heard was Doug E. Fresh way back in 1984. But I think Darren from "The Fat Boys" did it first in 1980. Whereas Doug E. Fresh 'may' have been the first to use beatbox as the only music for a full track called "La Di Dah Di" (1986) featuring "MC Ricky D" (more commonly known as "Slick Rick"). Doug also invented the "click-roll" which numerous contemporary beatboxers still use today. ...Hmm, sharing this information has made me feel very old all of a sudden. (I'm 45 and got into Hip-Hop at age 7) I still remember people back in the 80's saying it was just a silly temporary trend that would never last more than a few years. They would never have guessed someone would get a standing ovation in an opera house in 2013. I wish I could go back in time and show them this to see the looks on their smug faces, lol
Tom Thum even at that time was not actually representing 2013 per se. He brought his own style from the mid 2000s and built on it. He was a semifinalist in the 2005 world beatbox champs if i remember correctly
Short story shorter, TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Talks are, pretty much, experts in their respective fields that talk about how they/to achieve/d 'X' where 'X' is dependent on the speaker.
TedxSydney is just part of a global community of free short speeches in any subject, there are SO many interesting and funny "TED Talks", TEDxSydney is just the talks in Sydney, I think if it has an "x" after it is a free standing TED speech A funny one that I will never forget is "How to sound smart in your TEDx Talk", it is about how to use body language and speech and make literally nothing at all sound interesting U should react to it 🙂
You should check out Killa Kela "killa kela beatboxing" some more beatbox brilliance He started in the early 2000s' and is also in the rap/Hip Hop game now (Also "In the Booth with KILLA KELA" from 05:00 before it's an inverview. And for some TedX Music diversity check out "The Most Unexpected Acoustic Guitar Performance | The Showhawk Duo | TEDxKlagenfurt "
Well, I know how I make the static noise. I slur my saliva. Basically I gather a medium sized amount of saliva in my mouth. Not too much, not too little. Then I press the left and right sides of my gums against the middle left and right sides of my upper teeth. While doing so I make a very breathy vocalized "key", holding it out for a period of time. Kind of half way between saying "key" and a hiss. Then while doing so - keeping the gums and teeth still in the same place - I push the air/sound down and slightly back into my throat. Then I hold it there while the whole time still retaining the saliva and that's where the crackling sound comes in. Then, while still keeping the same gums and teeth position, I can move my mouth forward and back, open and, closed, etc. and get different tones and sounds. And if at the same time I actually vocalize a breathy "k-you-wee" or "wicky" while moving my mouth at the same time they start to become scratch sounds. And then to officially make them scratch sounds I take "k-you-wee" or "wicky" and use the same technique but repeat one of them a few times in a row fast. And all the while still keeping the saliva there. Using the saliva as the basis for the sound. Kinda like bending the saliva sound.
I use to mix with Tom in Brisbane back in mid 2000's, shout out to the Valley. Not super close but he has always been incredibly talented. Been beautiful to watch him grow. He has more artistic skills than just Beatboxing. The man is a monster. ✌🏻❤️
So glad to see you got around to watching this. Tom Thum is an outstandingly talented performer. Would be great to see a reaction to TOM THUM | Live At The Australian Beatbox Championship 2019. Keep fighting the good cause 🤜
Sxin and Chezame have a video of them watching a good handful of videos from Tom that would give you more of a flavor of what he is capable of. Not saying to do a reaction to another reaction video, but definitely one you should at least check out on your own!
CLIFF! BRO, you need to react to a song called "Target Practice"!!!!!! It has Demun Jones, Brodnax, Krizz Kaliko, Rittz AND Adam Calhoun! Bro, you will NOT be disappointed! Make sure you have the bass turned all the way up. lol

Tom was on TEDx again in 2015 I think and he had a camera shoved up his nose and down into his throat so you could see the sounds being made! It’s gross but also very interesting Edit: It was actually 2018 and here is the link ua-cam.com/video/LqdFL0u2HLY/v-deo.html

Tom Thum 🇦🇺 | Judge Showcase | SBX Kickback Battle 2021
I think Beardyman holds that title
Tom's showcase at this years GBB23 was just freaking phenomenal!
@@annother3350 Sure if we are focusing mainly tech side of it.
I also want to say this guy was basically my introduction to Beatbox/ the first one i heard that made actual music with it.

This was my first introduction to “real” beatboxing, Tom Thumb is a legend in the beatbox scene.

You saw Tom Thum in his tag team loopstation battles with Gene vs Saro and MB14, and the collab the 4 of them did together without loopstations. He’s doing a lot of crazy stuff on TikTok now, I wish he would upload more stuff to UA-cam.

The first proper beatboxing gig that I saw live was Killa Kela in 2001. Absolutely blew my mind ❤
You need to check out Beardyman at Camp Beastival - The Prequel 2009. He was the first beat boxer to win the UK Championship 2 years in a row (2006 & 2007) and was a judge on the panel in 2008.

Michael Leslie Winslow did Police Academy as a guy who makes noises like him. He was in Spaceballs too.
Good old Tom. an absolute classic vid. 😄
My generation was introduced to Michael Winslow. Tom is simply amazing as well. I would love to see them either team up or have a friendly competition on stage. That would be awesome.

Cliff don’t worry about being late, you’re a man of your word. Amazing reaction!
My guy 🙏. I always try my best 👊
Much love man! So happy for you to support the beatbox community.
I'm still convinced that the song at the end is just No Diggity. I feel like the mouth trumpet solo plays the melody that the words sing.
CLIFF this is a LONG AWAITED GEM!! After Rahzels 4 Elements Tom Thum put me back into the beatbox scene during 2013
We would'nt have most top level beatboxers of today if it wasnt for this guy right here.
Ive watched this back in the day and got me inspired trying beatbox no succes though hahahah 😂
Keep it up Cliff great content! 🙌❤️
This man has the fastest tongue in the world. I don't care how good a beatboxer is, they can't compare to this guy, and I've seen tons on UA-cam.

I have been stuck on doug e fresh for a long time. But this definitely peaks my interest.
Tom Thum even at that time was not actually representing 2013 per se. He brought his own style from the mid 2000s and built on it. He was a semifinalist in the 2005 world beatbox champs if i remember correctly
Безумная энергия в этом видео. Я больше чем уверен, что именно Thom побудил многих заняться битбоксом❤
They say tom thum was the one who perfected the trumpet sound and made it popular
You need to watch him : Eklips from France at Red Bull BC One - Showcase.
Its 14 Years old video from one of the best beatboxers i knew back in 2009
Short story shorter, TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Talks are, pretty much, experts in their respective fields that talk about how they/to achieve/d 'X' where 'X' is dependent on the speaker.
I believe he made the "scratching sound" using the resonant frequency of his spit, i do that out of boredom sometimes.
I been talking about Tom thumb since 2013 lol
You saw this guy as on the judge panel for GBB a couple of times I believe.
You might want to watch "tainted love" or "sweet dreams" by Tom Thum.
10 years man,10 years ago
Dopeness 🔥🔥 #Beatbox
i cant believe i didnt realize he was playing no diggity for the last 10 years
If you liked his jazzy melodical style, it'd be nice to see you enjoy some of his tracks like "ratchet face" ngl
