@@turquoiseinamerica3164 yes sir. Nice to meet you! Thanks for your books! I have really enjoyed the second book! Color pictures sure make a difference to the experience. I also enjoyed the interviews. Maybe we can meet some day. The Wheel Wright is a must see every time we are in Santa Fe.
Unless you have some information about provenance the best anyone can do is make an educated guess. The turquoise groups on FaceBook is a place to start.
No. GIA certified appraisers are generally not well informed about turquoise. Appraisal is difficult since there is no accepted grading system for turquoise.
Dry Creek is a marketing name for lower grade turquoise mined from the Godber Burnham claims. It takes its name from Dry Creek that runs through the Damele Ranch. It is indeed pale blue to almost white and is favored by some. Another popular stone is White Buffalo which is opalized calcite.
@@turquoiseinamerica3164 Hey no worries! Just got myself the Volume two!!! I buy from NevadaGem (bob) and Durango's Instagram (John HArtman) can you recommend some more places to get some of the wider range, classic-mine cabochons? Thanks for these videos. For someone like me, I've been looking for this kind of informative youtube video for years
@@tattoofthesunn795 You are in good hands with Bob. I try to buy direct from the miners whenever I can. Jeri and Bruce Woods at Godber Burnham are a good source.
