- A practical transformer is different from an ideal transformer in many respects. An ideal transformer has no losses but practical transformer has Iron losses, Magnetic leakage and Winding resistances.

I had worked in transformer manufacturing co, in step down transformer , tap changer switch is " OFF LOAD TAP CHANGER " we keep no 3, is std settingof the selector switch. Primary ( HV) is 11000 Volts and secondary ( L V ) is 400 Volts. And line to neutral is 230 Volts.
