On their last album, the last song is a cover of the old Spider-Man theme song. This is not only fitting because The Ramones were huge comic book nerds but also because The Ramones and Peter Parker are from the same neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens.
My dad’s friend always comes to my music preformances, once it was a tribute to the clash vs the ramones. My dad’s friend is named Bruce. He told stories how he grew up being great friends with Joey Ramone, Bruce was around 13. The stories he told me about how kind Joey really was really touched me, and I think everyone should know how sweet and shy he really was.
My idols. I look up to Joey so much because he had so many struggles and over came them to become a legend. I once had a dream where I was their producer for their first album, before they hit it big, and they told me I was going with them when they got their contract. We were living in a old Victorian house in New York and had nothing in the house but music equipment, beds, clothes and lots of pot. I got to spend an entire 12 hour dream talking to Joey about music and watched DeeDee and Johnny mess with our neighbors because they were bitching about the noise and weed smell, hehe! I can't remember which drummer was there, but he was on the porch laughing his ass off. It might have been Markey, I'm not sure though. In my dream, Joey told me I would make it in music, but I had to do it my way and to not give up. I will cherish it always as him answering me when I was torn between going on with music or giving up. I like to think if we had ever met in life, we might have been friends and confidants because I have mental health problems, have immense stage fright, and am a punk performer as well. Maybe he knew I needed the boost and came back to help a fan. Idk, that's what I like to think and it did help me immensely with my decision to keep going with music. Thank you Joey and to the other members for lighting that punk fire under my ass and giving me the boost to keep going. RIP🤘🖤❤😈🍭🦄🌈⚘🌹🌷🖕
@@EdCollects Haha that's awesome. Dude, I cried so hard when I woke up, but I was so greatful. I don't care if it was just my brain manifesting something at the time, it was so profound and I will cherish it always. What was the song you wrote about?
Joey is one of my great heroes. Here's a feller who was saddled with so many hardships & misfortunes, yet he took all the drawbacks he lived with & made them work FOR him. Every disadvantage he ever faced fed into his brilliant Joey Ramone persona. I wish they was still around playin shows, because say what ya want about their later LPs, as a live act, they was a rock n' roll locomotive right to the end-- I saw em from 1990 thru 1993, & count the '91 show as amongst the greatest rock n' roll shows I've ever been blessed to attend. R.I.P. Jeffrey Hyman AKA Joey Ramone. 🦃😥🙏🦃😥🙏🦃
Yeah it's very difficult to be doing two completely different rhythms at the same time while also managing two different melodies. You'll notice it's so much easier to sing at the same time when the rhythm of the vocals matches what you're playing exactly. Anyway there's a trick to learning how to do it, but you have to memorize each little moment of each song, so if you improvise anything during the song, the whole thing falls apart. I admire people like Phil Lynott from Twin Lizzie, who could not only play bass and sing simultaneously, but his vocal phrasing was always changing even during songs. That's talent if you ask me.
They all hated each other, too! Those interviews on the Howard Stern show where they're fighting is hilarious! Pet Semetary is my favorite Ramones song!
They will always be here they have too many people that love and loved their music. They might not have made alot of money or got the fame they deserved but they are legends.
I once dreamed that Joey Ramone was my classmate. In the dream we were both 14 years old and I got kicked out of class unfairly (it really happened). Then Joey came out of school too and said to me, «Hey, there's nothing wrong in you! Your weird mind is perfect like this!» Then he opened his coursebook and taught me the maths lesson I was losing because I was outside. I think that if we was classmates for real we would be best friends.
R.I.P. I remember when they came on the music scene They were suddenly successful. They weren't my favorites but they had a few good songs. It's too bad he had gotten Lymphoma. Only 49 years old. I remember years ago he had for some reason had been to the area I live in. He was seen walking around there he must have known somebody Their album will always be a classic.
I got to see them. Great show. I remember the mosh pit being really violent. I didn't go in of course, it was past the time when gals could safely do it.
Okay so you basically just copied this info from Wikipedia 🙄 UA-camrs think they can just do that and act like they did research lmao like all of this is pretty much a quick google search
This is from the New York Post: After Joey attacked their beloved mother with a kitchen knife, the family was forced to admit him to a psych ward. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and, while regularly seeing a psychiatrist helped Joey, he only felt better when he started playing rock ’n’ roll.
The Ramones lead guitarist is quoted as saying no one wants to hear a guitar solo. Meanwhile, Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats was playing … guitar solos on his Gretch hollow guitar electric guitar and leading to the revival of Rockabilly. I like both bands. But I like the Stray Cats more.
Imagine cutting your lead singer just for him to go on to be one of the most historical punk rock singers
I know! That would suck for the other band!
Same mistake for Hawkwind after he kicked Lemmy out. And the rest is history!
A band is not just about the singer. It's the synergy of everyone participating in the band.
@@anonymouse527 …sounds like you kicked out the wrong guy, but good point.

So sad and so legendary RIP, Mr. Joey Ramone.
I miss that guy!
🙏 I wonder what his twin would’ve been had they both survived
It's not that Dee Dee couldn't handle singing, he just couldn't play his instrument while also being lead singer. Nothing wrong with that
I can play guitar and I can sing but I cannot for the life me do both at the same time. I just can’t get the timing and concentration right.
