  • Advice for Future Continental Divide Trail Hikers - CDT Guide
In this video I am giving my advice to future CDT hikers, comparing my experiences on the AT and talking about gear.
I thru-hiked the Continental Divide Trail in 2017; it was one of the best experiences of my life. Hopefully, these tips will help anyone setting out on the trail in the future.

I'm glad you enjoyed the CDT.I love it because it is not like the other two it is not popular it's not overloaded and not over traveled. And I hope it stays that way !!!!!!!
AT hikers may struggle with the CDT because of the vast openness in the Basin area. Not to mention several sections of New Mexico. The PCT has a little bit of all trails in one... That includes the party spirit of the AT. Not so on the CDT.
As you mentioned, thank God, it's not highly traveled.
    Best of wishes

Howdy & hey there!👍🤠 What time of year did you get to Texas? I'm from TX & I usually dislike our brutal😩 6-mo-long summers here in central/south TX. The rest of the year can be pretty great 🥳& some winters in S central TX can be like a long spring with clear, dry, sunny days in the 60°-70°F & with only shorter bits of cold weather/or freezing temps that warm up in between ea cold front (therefore we have many temporary winter-only Texans).😁🤠👍

In regards to switching from a 10 degree quilt to a 0 degree bag. Do you run warmer or colder. Only curious because I have a 0 degree quilt and I run pretty warm.

Colorado looks tough as nails. Did you really carry bear spray, microspikes, and an ice axe for most of the mountainous areas?

If the trail starts at the Mexican border and ends at the Canadian border, who in the hell cares.
