This talk in the 90's would have been a death sentence in the skateboard community. It makes sense, it's a physical sport and if you want to be a long term player, you gotta treat your body right.
Yeah man, it went from jocks are lame be skinny, to getting super drunk and fucked up is the way, and now it's about being healthy as fuck....I'll have to admit....people are skating on a different level.
...im 30 now and my body is wrecked..idfk how I got sponcered being as screwed up as I was..I literally couldn't skate sober. I did get blackballed from the industry...yo tony tell mad cow I'm sorry for all those decks ROFL..I knew I messed up when I saw hawk on fule TV promoting the brand I just ripped off...
I’m 23 and I started really getting into lifting around 17 or so. All my skate homies were on my ass about going to gym and calling it pointless until they saw that my skating improve due to constant lifting. I got way too much muscle to skate how I used too now but skating will always have my heart first.
Approaching Skating like a sport over a hobby or art form. That’s the new way to get better and last longer. I’m 36 and been skating 4 years recently and basically 20 years when I grew up. Quit for 10 years. Now fitness is how I stay on the board
I’m 29 years old and Sheck grew up at the same time I did and I’ve always felt he was a cool and inspiring person. His show was lame, but even my 12 year old brain knew his talent. His awesome. Only lameasses can hate on him.
I mentioned strength and conditioning and exercise before for skaters to reach new plateaus and most of the dudes thought I was talking about bodybuilding. Ryan and Nyjah have been on that for a long time though and it shows.. 💯
Ryan Sheckler made me want to stop getting better at skateboarding because he was just THAT good. Thankfully I kept skating and got just a bit better along the way.
Ryan shredded and had all the girls wanting him. At the time skateboarding was sort of lame in the mainstream outside of the east and west coast. He made people look at it differently.
I feel like Neen Williams was the catalyst for this approach to skateboarding
Him and Reynolds for sure

I'm as old as you. I was definitely guilty of hopping on the bandwagon hate. Then I turned 14
Great vid.
It's tough being a dad, as we older cats know.......keep it up Ryan.

Jiujitsu 🤝 Skateboarding
Melt is somehow the perfect word.
Young Ryan came to this tiny park in Trussville one day and ripped it to shit.
To be fair , Baker makers does not sound like anything to do with skating unless you know 😂
God Damn, sound just like his old man.
I love Hawk and Ellis, but this clip turned me off this pod hardcore. They barely let Shecks talk. Do they let guests speak?
Probably why it wasn't titled "Sheckler talks about Riley Hawk"
Heard he mistreated his day ones.
Would love a cold plunge!
Legennnds! \m/
Im North County Inland. Can you hook me up with an autographed board Tony? I can ollie, well kinda, almost.
