Djinnbass vs Eurobass 2 - FIGHT!

- I decided to make a comparison video of the imo 2 top virtual bass instruments on the market right now for metal productions - The Djinn Bass and Eurobass 2 from Submission Audio. Check out the play through and stay tuned for the more in depth comparison at the end. Beware of some major swenglish going on - sorry for that! Haha
The song is an original composition I made for this video. The drums are programmed with GGD Invasion default kit with some external processing and the guitars are recorded with my Solar A1.7 ETC, tuned to drop G, and with the amp sim TSE X50 V2 from TSE Audio.
If you like this video, please leave a thumbs up, subscribe to my channel and leave a comment below on what you'd like to see next!

Great work, Johan! Really enjoyed that.
Thank you so much Ermin! Means alot to hear 😃🤘🏻🤘🏻
Awesome video! Definitely helped me hear the difference of both versions while also helping me hear the potential that I can take my bass tones to!
Thank you so much, that's awesome to hear! 🤘🏻
Both decent but Euro has the edge for sure. Djinn bass sticks out and can sound more obviously robotic.
Thanks a lot for this video, man. Now I know exactly which one I want to buy. Much appreciated!
Thats awesome to hear! Cheers!
Great work man :) Thanks for making this!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! 🤘🏻
Suveränt och skickligt!
the mix is amazing man!!
Thank you so much! 🤘🏻
Thanks for the demo. I like the Euro Bass a lot more, that's the one I'll get!
Thank you man! Good choice, you'll love it! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for the awesome comparison video. I've been trying to decide between these two. From listening to your demo I definitely prefer the sound of Eurobass compared to DjinnBass, well least for the sound Im going for. Thanks
Thanks dude, glad to help! Yeah, I tend to use Eurobass more often as well. If you don't write a lot of stuff in looow tunings, you will be really pleased with Eurobass, I assure you that! Let me know if you put up something that's made with it later, would love to check it out! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@johanlund Yeah I'm wanting to go low with it. My Baritones are tuned to Drop F1 and Drop E1. So I wanna program in some bass that is in F0 and E0. I think the EuroBass sound will fit nicely with my guitars. I'll definitely share something with you when have the plugin and have written some stuff with it. Keep Well!
Side note... your guitar tone and riffs are wicked as hell buddy
Thank you so much dude, means a lot to hear! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@johanlund No problem buddy. You definitely got a new subscriber
Sick video man!
Thank you so much! 🤘🏻
DjinBass for open string & low tuning. Euro Bass for fretted & more dynamic left hand side
awesome work man. how can you have only 83 subscribers!! Really good song and i'm glad to see that you use GGD invasion too ! :) +1 subscriber
Thank you so much dude! Well, I'm just gonna keep putting out content and hope that more people subscribe :)
Yeah, the Invasion kit is really good! 🤘🏻
Johan Lund you are welcome. You just made me by the eurobass plugin ahah
Haha, nice! 👍🏻 You won't be dissapointed! 😁🤘🏻
Johan Lund ahah thanks! If you have the time I have made a short song with the ggd invasion on my Chanel. Let me know what you think of it! It would be great for me
thanks for this! really helpful
Glad that it helped! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great video!
I'm going to purchase both, because they're on sale.
Thank you so much! Yeah, do it! You'll love them both! 😃🤘🏻
Great video, thank you!
Thank you so much, glad you liked it! 🤘🏻
Wicked riffage my friend thanks for the video it helps a lot
Thank you so much! Glad it helped! 😃🤘🏻🤘🏻
Best $70 ive spent in a while
Question: can djinnbass run on the kontakt player. Becaulse I recently got nuclear bass not knowing you needed the full version of kongakt
Yeah that's how I'm using it :)
Both sound great. I already own Djinnbass and i'm not sure i really need Eurobass aswell. Especially since i own Neural DSP Parallax and Darkglass Ultra and i can just use the clean DI, which is the same in both plugins, am i right? Great demo, i once again enjoyed your video!
Thank you so much! They are sampled with two different basses, so the tonality is a bit different from what I can hear. The DjinnBass has more top end "clank" to it while the Eurobass 2 is smoother on the top end, imo anyway. You could maybe eq the DjinnBass to make it sound more like the Eurobass but it requires more processing and time than just pulling up the Eurobass and go IF you want to have a smoother top end that is :) I feel the Eurobass to be more versitile for different genres, while the DjinnBass is more suitible for down tuned, dare I say "djent'ier" styles. But that's just a matte of taste I guess, hehe..
You're probably right :) Now i got to learn how to program midi, so it sounds as close to the real thing as it can. Some people make these sound like crap (i'm one of them lol). The sound itself is great, but the proper midi programing with vst instruments is really crucial part to get that natural sound. Got any advice for that?
Yeah, putting in the time to add key changes and adjust the velocities to make it more realistisc can really make a difference. So use key changes and work with different velocities instead of going 127 all the time goes a long way. Allthough I'm guilty of doing that my self, I'm too lazy sometimes, haha. They've made a video on how to program key changes over at submission audio's youtube channel. I found that really helpful, allthough they use the punk bass in that video, the thought behind it is the same.
Hello! What DAW would fit in order to use the keyswitches? I ask this because I see that my FL Studio only goes down to C0.
Hey! Oh, that's too bad. I'm using Studio One 4, and that works great for me. As far as I know, Reaper has no restrictions for midi, so since that has a free evaluation version, try that and see if it works :) good luck 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@johanlund I will do some research on other DAWs. I just want do see which of them fits metal music in general. Do you have any opinion on which could be best?
None of the daws, besides maybe a few, are genre specific. So you will get the same results from Logic, Reaper, Studio One, Cubase or Pro Tools. It's just a matter of preference and work flow. I've used all of them and for me, Studio One was the best fit :)
@@johanlund Understood. Thank you very much!
Hey man! Awesome video! Total newb question here.. but how can you tell what note you are programming in relation to the bass itself. For instance, I play in drop B on a six string guitar. How do I find that open B note to match?? I can see when I’m playing a B, but how do I tell what string it should be on?? Thanks!
Doesn't the DAW show piano keys on the left to show what notes are where?
Hey dude! Thank you so much! Yes, Jay is right, your DAW have a piano roll where you program the midi. There you'll find the notes and just match that to what you are playing. 🤘🏻
Yeah, juat use the piano roll. It can be a touch tedious at times but it is better than buying a bass.
This is good question. I saw that the Shreddage guitars have a feature for the position of the left hand. These seem to not have that.
@@johanlund Yes, you could write the notes in the piano roll, but on the piano you can only play a note in a single place. He asks how you can tell the plugin to play the A note on the 0, string 5, or on the 5, string 6, for example.
Was the guitar only single tracked? Also, what drums are you using? Btw, sick guitar and riffage!!!
Wait, never mind, i see you bounced the audio file back in. So was that double or quad tracked?
Thank you so much! The guitars are double tracked. And the drums are Get Good Drums Invasion pack with some external processing. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@johanlund Awesome! Thanks! Sounds brutal!!!
Great video! Which one do you think sounds better?
Thank you so much! I find that the Eurobass is more usable for a wider range of styles, while the DjinnBass is awesome for more agressive styles. At least straight out of the box. If you process the DjinnBass properly, or start with the DI signal and sculpt your tone from there, you can use it for more "light" metal or even rock imo. Hope that answers your question 😊🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@johanlund Thank you!!!
The problem I'm having between the two is I think the Eurobass sounds better because it doesn't have that annoying "pinging" around 3k but at the same time it doesn't tune as low :/
Yeah, I know what you mean. But the harshness can be taken care of with a lot of subtractive eq. And distort the high end heavily can also help tame it.
@@johanlund I'm not the best at mixing so I think I'm gonna go with Eurobass purely for the ease of getting it to sit in a mix, really good video though :)
You won't be dissapointed dude, both are awesome!
Thank you so much! 🤘🏻
Those baby Genelecs are LEGIT.
Yeah, they are really clean and clear sounding. 🤘🏻
