OMG! Love you tutorial. This piano newbie at 73 will definitely make this part of my repertoire on my PSR-275 (almost as old as me). This video is one of the hidden gems of UA-cam.
Eventually one of the few who have understood that this is not a minor blues! Bravo. Your channel is great resource and I'm looking forward to learning some other classics. Ciao
Really appreciate the tutorial. A friend knew I just started practicing some boogie-woogie excercies on piano and suggested I try learning this. It made me study my blues scales and created all sorts of learning. I can't say I understand why certain notes work when they work, but getting there! Love your organ sound!
thank you!!!! I started playing my synthesizer after 15 years, just to learn this song :) I guess I finally understand that IT IS a good instrument afterall, I used to hate it when I was young and I had to play some stupid songs which I didn't like. But there was no youtube back then so I could learn only tunes my teacher gave me. God bless youtube and you :D
Haha thanks man, yeah I used to hate synths too but that was probably because I didn't own a good one, and presets always suck, and programming good sound by yourself is hard. Anyways cheers dude!
thanks this has helped my playing a shed load. really clear tutorial and a funky' organ sound too. that stax band made so many classics. muscle shoals documentary is brilliant
Oh, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you !!!!! I've been playing this tune since I was about 16yrs old (nearly 30yrs). I've got close BUT I always knew there was something not right about the way I was playing the chords - the choice of notes within some of the chords. And, you are playing it in the same key that I play it in - F. I don't think that is the original correct key, but, who cares ! Now, I'll be able to sit at my new Hammond clone (a Mag C2 0rgan) with an ipad, and learn how to finally play this riff correctly. You are an absolute star !!! Many, many thanks !!!!!!!
This is a really great tutorial. I have been faking this song for many years. But you got it. Great solos....they sound right to me. Thanks for posting. Now I can correct many years of bad habits,
pro-tip: learn it at this .075 or 1.0 speed, then play the video back at 1.25 speed and learn it again to master the "performance" tempo which is how smooth and quick you would play it if you were performing the song on stage. Great video! Been so long since your last one I didnt even remember when or why I even subbed! But now I do! Thanks!
Ahahah, I just picked up an SV2 and I wanted to learn this tune for use with some of the electric pianos it has. Lo and behold the first tutorial I find is with an SV1. Hell yeah. Thanks!
apparently booker seems to play the first part differently. mostly in the left hand, where he plays the b and c chords an oktave lower. and i think when on the f chord, he plays an f with the thumb of the right hand on the last triplet, when he also plays an c in the left hand with the thumb which is also not specifically shown here. there is a video of booker playing it on youtube.
Thanks for the tutorial!!! I really want to lean how to play sunday sermon by booker t and the mg.s i dont suppose you know it nd would record yourself playing it hahah
I think this is a wonderful tutorial, so I thank you for posting it. I have a Lowrey 1995 Promenade that I think has a Leslie feature. Has anyone has experience playing a Lowrey like a B-3 or other Hammonds?
The only thing is that Booker doesn't play the bass part while he plays the high parts. At least not live. The bass and the guitar hold down the low end and he plays on top of it.
It's a good video but pretty typical of everyone that makes these, they spend a lot of time on the first thing they explain cause they're thinking about being clear still and then they forget and are going too fast for the more complex part. In this case that would be an overly slow left hand explanation and then too quick throught the right. not gonna keep me from learning the song but it is a trend.
should have the digital piano on all your videos to help with teaching, we can't always see which keys your pressing from the viewpoint you give. A tutorial is supposed to teach, kind of hard to learn if you can't see what's going on.This video wasn't too bad as far as seeing fingerings, but some of your others are almost impossible to follow. Your playing is great though
dude stop smacking the keys so hard, it makes it really hard to follow especially when you screw the note up and have to replay it and you're explaining the new notes to play

This is so great. About the same time was "Baby Elephant Walk". Music is 4 ever(in My heart).

So good and your timing is just perfect!

Beautiful work my friend. Thank you so much for doing this.
WHy did the digital piano that was playing above during the demo disappear? It is so helpful!
This is a really great tutorial. I have been faking this song for many years. But you got it. Great solos....they sound right to me. Thanks for posting. Now I can correct many years of bad habits,

@Kurtis Duggan That is the most trash version I have ever heard. Whoever made that is tone deaf.

Here I was thinking this is a beginner song
Play it in 1.25 speed to see the tutorial in original song pace
Agree with Ethan....I have an SV-1 and can't get it to sound like that....tried copying the settings from the video to no avail..
Empece a practicarlo cual es la configuracion de sonido del tono??
What keyboard are you playing on this tutorial, love the sound!
Brake on!!
Thanks for this! I'm dusting off the old keyboard as we speak!
Great job thanks for posting this! What settings do you have your SV1 on? I can't get mine to sound like that.
I was wondering the same. I think it is a rotary setting, then layering a light drawbridge on the chorus.
Great Tutorial but is there not the end part missing? Would be great if you could show all :-)
Is that a rotary setting?
I'm here from that book rock star
Super blues 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Hi Ron
ua-cam.com/video/d9r_kYpOvW8/v-deo.html
What kind of keyboard are you playing?
awesome job...but WHY is the click track dial cranked to 11.?????
Haha good question
In Bb?
I think this is a wonderful tutorial, so I thank you for posting it. I have a Lowrey 1995 Promenade that I think has a Leslie feature. Has anyone has experience playing a Lowrey like a B-3 or other Hammonds?
What style of organ are you using?
B3
Try it as Booker played it, with working in the octave on the IV chord: ua-cam.com/video/-kMQYbD_qVU/v-deo.htmlm56s
I'm a beginner and I'm trying to learn this.
It's so Hard for me but I LOVE this song so MUCH :/
I know how you feel bro! :-D
I cannot play both parts at Sam time . It's impossible. How do I combat this
practice each hand seperately until you know them well, then put them together. if all else fails: go slower.
*P R A C T I C E*
Do you have the music sheet for this version? Would be great!
What scale am i using for this piece?
F minor blues
Meant C chord part.
1:01
Anyone have the music sheet for this version? Thx!
Im playing the exact the same thing as he is playing, but it doesnt sound right at all? What am i doing wrong
You need to work on your rhythm perhaps? Effectively feeling the song pulse through you.
It could be the sound you are using. What keyboard are you using?
+Nathan Zorndorf not sure what model it is, but it's a regular yamaha keyboard i guess
korg sv-1
Ea skate flash backs
Hahaha I have the same keyboard Korg SV1

Um, actually: ua-cam.com/video/rh9KDzNkpSI/v-deo.html
Where is the melody please
Bass line FF G# A# (C?)
Awesome tutorial but sometimes you hit the notes so fast its really hard to follow (around 4:15)
4:05 not 4:15
got it now ;)
F,G#,B flat, 1/16th C, return to F

just slow the video down yourself smh

simplifed version but ok

Terrible sound?
this sucks
Thanks!
