When I tell you this is one of my fav songs EVER😭😭 Omg! Jack let me tell you when I first heard this song back in 96, I was about 7 yrs old, I was blown away🎤. Like it was unlike anything I've heard before. Perfect song, vocals and productions. And the video is what made me luv the song honestly. It's got such a 1940's/1950's aesthetic to it. That's what the men's clothing reminded me of and I was drawn to that. Like it could be a windy fall day on the streets of Harlem in 1945... this song gives me a while visual, it's just that good, I could write a poem to it❤. 10/10😌
Jack, that amazing musical arrangement you hear in this song is by Raphael Saadiq from Tony Toni Tone. He also sang backgrounds on the "Yeah, yeah yeah" part. He is a bass player in addition to being an amazing vocalist. He definitely did his thing on this song.
lol....in the 90s we were @ the height of our video budgets/high profile directors (hype williams, f. gary gray, brett ratner...) so ALL the videos look like they're for/from movie soundtracks (even when they WERE NOT)....lol
Man you killing me Jack this was my shit as a kid... Prime example of baby making or Laid back cruising vibes...I never could choose between Total vs Xscape though... Hope you check out Total Cant u see, No one else & What about us... They really made some hits
Can't truly appreciate this track until you hear the cd quality version. The instrumentation and guitar riffs are everything. Get so nostalgic listening to this jawn. Reminds me of my hawaiin sweatheart I've never totally gotten over.
I can't believe I didn't get the notification for this it totally my song🎶....but im so on my vibe bringing in my Birthday🎉🎈🎁🎉 with some oldiezzz but goodiezzz...lol😂on your channel!! Thank you Jack for doing this one..
No One Eles - Total What About Us - Total ft Missy Elliott Can't You See - Total ft Notorious B.I.G Lounge (Who Do You Love) - LL Cool J ft Total What You Want - Mase ft Total
I don't think this was on any movie soundtrack. This just came out in the era of big budget music videos where artists were just spending money for the fuck of it, and videos often just had nothing at all to do with the song. Total was on Bad Boy, and they were the kings of spending way too much money on videos that were random as fuck. This song was fire tho.. Raphael Saadiq produced this, if I remember correct. It's kinda hilarious seeing one of the Total girls pretend to play guitar in this video if you actually know Total's music. This song was a pretty far departure from what they normally did.
the girls in my middle school class were crazy for this song when it came out. i think about how they hyped this up back then. they were Total crazay!!!
I'm glad you chose to reacto to this version first. There is a remix version of this song that's like a completely different song. I've always liked this version because it showcases the group's unique sound and style. There are times when the flow of the remix is just a vibe in and of itself, though. It's definitely worth a listen. The Total sound and style is so different that it takes a few listens from different songs on their discography to really understand and get the perspective they're offering. "Can't you see" and "What about us" I think would've been the best intro to Total but Trippin' and this one are cool too. They have a really nice song with Foxy Brown called "I can't" that's definitely worth checking out. Changing Faces is now probably the biggest girl group from the 90's left to react to. "Ghettout" was probably their most loved song, "Stroke you up" was their most popular, "Fooling around" ensured that that weren't a one hit wonders, but my personal favorite was "Same tempo." You probably won't get a lot of requests for it because it was one of their lesser known hits, but I hope you'd check it out because it's an awesome song.
If I remember correctly, I think this video was inspired by the opening pool scene of “Sunset Boulevard” with William Holden and Gloria Swanson. Great movie if you ever get the chance to see it. A real cinematic classic.
Knew you'd react to that baseline during the bridges. I rewind that shit so damn much lol. Damn though...they coulda let Kima(long hair) sing the bridge.
To this day this is still one of my favorite songs ever. My ex used to have me sing this song to him all the time, and I listen to it almost weekly even now.
I remember them performing this song on BET right when there album came or coming out, and before they released it as a single, and I knew it was going to be a classic.
This is a long shot but it would be awesome if you reviewed "7th Heaven by Vanity from The Last Dragon movie and "I Don't Wanna Be Alone Tonight" from the movie School Daze. Great songs!
Man all the 90s songs you been doing been bringing back high school and college days.
Right?! Crazy how time goes by...
@@hpacheco Right, now I'm 40! Omg!😳😂
