Wow! I have been there 40 years ago and had the Sachertorte. There was no internet at that time. I got lost in Wien many times. And yes, Germans are not loud at all. It is kinda intimidating specially for me, a Brazilian.
I went to this cafe with my son. Of course we ordered the Sachertorte and we really liked it, we ate it slowly to enjoy the true taste of this cake. I highly recommend going for this cake
Austrian patisserie is one of the best -if not the best one- in the world. I would suggest you to try as many desserts as you can while you are there, but I also know Austria is quite an expensive country. I love your videos! Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Thank you very much! Indeed, it sure is. We tried our best but left feeling like we just scratched the surface. Yeah, it is definitely not a budget destination but I'm still glad we visited. The city has a lot to offer.
Great descriptions of the food! I can imagine almost exactly what those desserts must have tasted like the way you explained it. The vicarious experience was fantastic! Thanks!
Sachertorte is my all time favorite cake. Glad to see you liked it just as much. I even had it shipped overseas during my 5-month stay in the states to cure a little bit of homesickness. 😋
I don't think so. At least not the real deal. (But even in Austria most Cafés and Bakeried sell them though the original can only be purchased in the 4 cities you mentioned)
Going to take a day trip from Bratislava in December. They have AWESOME Christmas markets in Vienna ! LOVE all of the coffee houses. And the "wee" glasses of water 😎
I waited 45 minutes to get into the cafe last week, and had a taste of the sacher torte. It was a tad dense for my liking, but the Turkish coffee was good and unique.
Thanks so much for doing this video ! Always wanted to go to the original cafe to have one ! So interesting to get know what food and kind of coffee they serve in Wiena etc. Good job guys
Who has Sachertorte und Guglhoph..in Montreal?😃😁.... seeing you enjoying all this delicious cakes and coffee...I want to run to aeroport and take Air Austria 😃😋🍰🍮🍨☕☕🛫

Another lovely travel video from the two of you. That cafe looks lovely and so did both of the cakes. Enjoy your time in Vienna if you are still there! Best Regards from Maxi and Maro.
I love the food in Vienna. If you are still there I recommend trying the Kaiserschmarrn (an amazing Austrian pancake) at cafe Landtmann. You won't be disappointed. By the way, I must compliment Sam on his polo shirts :)
My parents were Czech and Austrian and we ate mostly European dishes. The cakes are made without flour, only ground nuts for bulk, also lots of eggs and butter, making them very rich.
Try the Kaffee Museum, too. I was in Vienna at Christmas a few years ago. Trouble is, many things were closed. I was cold and saw a sign saying Kaffee Museum. I thought, well, at least it will be warm for a while, so I went across the road. To my delight, I found it was actually a cafe. Inside it was so lovely and warm with plush red seats and a ton of different cakes and savoury food to choose from. It really made me feel like it was Christmas time. Try to see the rest of Austria, too, though: Graz, Linz, Innsbruck and, of course, Salzburg. Take a train or a car and pop into Munich from Austria since it's relatively close. Great times! Ich liebe Ostereich und Deutschland.
я была в Вене и поняла , что Захер - мой любимый торт , я была в этом легендарном кафэ , также запомнилась Альбертина , Собор Св. Стефана , скучаю по Вене
Can i ask what the latter is in English? I Googled that long term and pretty much got either this page or pages that were in German (no help). But either way, Vienna sounds amazing as far as food (and culture and architecture).
CM Woso Did you mean Marcelo Criscitelli's recommendation "Gansl mit Rotkraut und Semmelknödeln"? If yes it's fried goose with red cabbage and dumplings. I would also recommend poached beef with apple-horseradish-sauce and chives sause plus side dishes or if you like it as I do there are lots of variations of innards in traditional Viennese cuisine.
Did you guys went to the Vollpension cafe in Vienna? its absolutely amazing!!! There are retired ladies baking home-made cakes from their own recipes. And I can understand Sam, my ideal temperature is 16-18C, always go on holidays between end September - November :P
Oh yes that looked delicious lol and yes Vienna is a a wonderful city and i've read about the Habsburgs and their struggles with the Ottoman Empire and other stuff in the Holy Roman Empire.
2:08 PSST they do cakes all over the city (incl Sachertorte - btw you pronounce the "e" at the end), there is no need to wait in line at the tourist trap. The reason of the glass of water is because coffee dehydridetes the body.
Coffe does NOT dehydrites the body, omg... The original reason for the glass of Water is that you should NOT put your dirty coffespoon on the table or something, you should put the spoon in the glass of water instead. Its an old missunderstanding that the water is for drinking
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos i'm staying in a place called GOMBAk, near Batu Caves Indian Tample that u've visited. Not far from Kuala Lumpur city😃
I'd love to go there to try it, but was able to buy one straight from the hotel bakery website. It was $62 for a 7.6in torte that comes in a wooden gift box and gift wrapped as well.
Thank you! It is definitely beautiful and worth a visit but it is also expensive. On our Euro Trip this year it has been the most expensive place we've visited.
You need to do a video on how you both keep your weight down. There is mention of Samuel going for a run, but there has to be more than that and the walk to the venue.
Thanks! We definitely should do that. The truth is that we mostly eat at our Airbnb. We'll film like 2-3 food videos per week but the other 18-19 meals are mostly at home. If we have a big heavy lunch for instance we'll do a light veggie platter for dinner. But to be honest Audrey is much better at controlling her portions than I am which is why my weight fluctuates quite a bit.
Maybe you two could show us how to buy local ingredients to make your own meals at your apartments. I think it's a challenge to do that "on the road". Loved Vienna.
So Samuel, hence the running. Video would be good, because you both seem to do it so well. It is always tricky when you travel, yes you tend to walk more but there has to be a trade off somewhere. Like you say the meal at "home". Would be good to see how you both manage it from each perspective. May give you a way to expand the channel as it is undoubted that you have a healthy lifestyle intermingled with the odd "naughty" moment. I am guessing most of your viewers travel occasionally and would value you tips.
Like any tourists in Vienna, one shouldn't miss the Cafe Sacher Wien. I brought my Filipino friends visiting from Los Angeles here and for a start, of course, it was amazing for them to experience something noble about Vienna. For such an in demand cafe, it's definitely packed all the time; we had to fall in line, waiting outside for our turn. Finally after 30 minutes, we were welcomed to come in but the waitress left us standing by the entrance. I saw two unoccupied tables so we sat there, although glad to finally sit down, but waiters were so busy passing by, without stopping on our table for our order. Other tables were nicely approached, but still we weren't. For about 10 minutes, one waiter walked nearby and I had to call him to come to our table. And that's when we could finally order the "LEGENDARY DELICIOUS SACHER TORTE"! Delicious?? Well, not all says it is. Unfortunately, a bad experience for my visitors. I felt so ashamed for this incident and apologized . i promised that I'll never bring visitors in this place again and will definitely not recommend to other visitors who plans to visit Vienna. I don't consider it one of the best hotels in the world anymore. It's one of the racist people indeed.
How much is a slice of the Sacher torte? $7.60 USD If I want to order some and have it shipped to California, the smallest torte they sell is 0.6 Kg (1.32 pounds that will serve 4 people) will cost 59.89 Euros or $65.97. I dont think I'll be going to Austria anytime soon, plus my bday is coming up so I ordered the small one for $66. There should be more than one choco-seal, maybe one for each serving.
I had the Sacher Torte in Salzburg, at least there is no queue there. While it tastes delicious it is definitely not worth the price. It is really expensive.
Yeah, sometimes it is with a crazy taxi driver or on a bus that almost gets into an accident or at night if we're not sure of our surroundings. Most recently we were on a bus that hit a car in Croatia. That was a scary moment. Luckily there wasn't oncoming traffic and the accident wasn't serious.
Well done .. I'm with Sam .. I couldn't even approach the line at the Peninsula HK ... I just hate queuing , far less for hours . Damn the rise of the Chinese middle class ...... they can now afford anything ... how dare they ???
I can promise you: there is no such thing as sweetened Cream in all of Austria! :) If you would serve sweetened Cream to an Austrian, he or she would leave without paying...

Loved the video, made the Sacher Torte for Valentine's years ago so it was so nice to add your video to my memory of that recipe.
Thank you! Oh, wow! How did it turn out? Was it tricky to make?

You can order sachertorte online and have it delivered I believe anywhere...I lived in NJ 🇺🇸 and ordered one. Was awesome!
That is so cool to hear John! Sounds like you can get great food in NJ. We hope to visit someday.
I notice how many people say "expresso" but its ESPRESSO Pleeease
