    I had a 2023 Platinum Sequoia on order for 6 months. I wouldn’t even look at anything else. Then I saw a 2023 Expedition Timberline on my local Ford lot. I pulled in for a test drive….I drove off the lot with a new Expedition Timberline!!! It’s an incredible vehicle. Looks great inside and out, luxury, performance and very off road equipped. Love this Expedition Timberline!!!

      Timberline suspension is too harsh if you are also using it as a daily driver.
      I consider the Ford Expedition to be better in every way, except replacing physical buttons with onscreen ones.
      The Sequoia excels at having big tilted buttons.

    Coming from the eco boost v6. When you hit 120k you’ll be buying turbos for both vehicles. With the Toyota now you get to deal with the twin turbos going out and replacing the battery in the future…. I just dropped 8k for two new turbos and replacing timing chain. Was $8k or buy a new truck for $80,000…. This was on a 2012 f150. These will cost you $12000 to repair batteries are about $15000-$20000 to replace.
    10 year financing. You’ll hit 120k in 5 years or more, warranty will be up and you will still owe $40000 on the suvs plus have to pay $10,000-$20000 to keep it going. People will trade them then the next sucker will get stuck with it. Welcome to the future…

      I can't speak to the cost of repair on a Ford, but Toyota doesn't plan obsolescence in to their vehicles. They build them to last!
      I CAN however speak to your estimate of $15,000 to $20,000 to replace a hybrid traction battery. The traction battery is warrantied by Toyota for 10 years or 150k miles, whichever comes first. From DIRECT experience with MULTIPLE failed traction batteries on the Toyota Prius I can tell you that a complete replacement battery can be had RIGHT NOW for less than $1,200 INSTALLED.
      Also, where do I find this 10-year financing of which you speak? LOL! That's the ticket!

    • @regularguyfixes3142
      @regularguyfixes3142 Рік тому +1

      @@prslincoln cool. 7 years is A-LOT better than 10. 🤣 It was an exaggeration as the prices continue to go up the only way a NORMAL person can get these vehicles is to get payments where they can afford it by spreading out the loan as far as it will go. I don’t rem 72 months loans when I was young… hey if toyota can replace that sequoia battery for $1200 preach brother that will be amazing. I know a girl had a few years old focus with a battery. Took it to Ford with 60,000 miles. They said battery was $14000 to replace. She bought the whole car used for $11000. It was a 2014 model. Guess no warranty after car left original owner or 7 years passed so Ford said pay us $14,000 so that was putting her $25000 deep in the car. But Ford stepped in said don’t worry about the $14000 battery cost. The car is now obsolete and we don’t make that battery anymore. So now off to the land fill and scrap yard while she’s still paying her $11,000 loan. Maybe she’ll get $500-$1000 at the scrap yard. Tesla runs a cooling system around their batteries. A guy hit something in the road broke off the cooling hose inlet. Tesla said whole battery has to be replaced and it’s outta warranty. Cost $25000…. Outta pocket. My story is a combination of TYPICAL scenarios that are going to come up along with my real world experiences. I know Toyotas are reliable the 4 runners with half the room of big SUVs are double the price for the years and having 200,000k on them in the used market. Caaarazyyyyy . Many people are just stuck in their old cars for as long as they will go cause they can’t replace them when cars are nearing prices of what some owe on their homes. The reality like home prices is we are all be shuttled into an area of LEASING or RENTING your cars for life cause the majority can’t afford to own anymore.

    There is no comparing. Toyota has shown that they do not care about Sequoia…why? The Grand Hylander has more cargo space than the sequoia. How? Makes no sense.

    Have an 04 Expedition still kicking and just bought a 2023 Limited Stealth Edition. Very nice and love the 12-inch monitor vs the 20 inch in the 2024. Only complaint so far is a strange rattling noise in the rear. It comes and goes and I don't know if its in the lift gate, panoramic roof of under the third row seating.
    Had a service appointment this morning but cancelled last night because rattling sound has mysteriously disappeared over the last two days. Word of advice if you purchase either vehicle or any of the new SUVs with all of the new tech and packages, get extended warranties bumper to bumper. There is a lot of tech in these vehicles now and when or if they break, $$$$$.......

    You said Sequoia has lower base price but at 7:25 of video you can clearly see the Ford Expedition is 5k lower base price than Toyota (53k versus 58k) also you were incorrect on upper end price too since you only used upper end trim price for Toyota but for Ford you used upper end trim price then added a package to Ford only (Toyota has a package too but you didn't include it in your pricing). Other than that pricing issue, very well made and presented comparison video.

    Drove both this week. Toyotas just seem overhyped. Reliable? Yes. Modern, no. Power deliver y much better and smoother on Expedition and engine noise far less. On road performance not even close, Expo much smoother and feels smaller than it is in a good way. (Does have that super light ford steering, so some disconnection from road) Prefer the smaller screen on expedition like in xlt for the additional hard buttons. More convenient and far safer (eyes on the road and all). Building them out MAY show better pricing for Sequoia, but dealer has a $20k mark up!!! (Toyota of North Charlotte) After lots of YouTubing I have gone to buy a land cruiser, a forerunner and drove a Sequoia b/c of all the online Toyota love. But always leave disappointed after I drive them. My $.02.

    Having looked at Sequoias and owning an Expedition in the past, like the Expedition. Plushier and how many cup holders in front 🤭 USB ports as well. Haul stuff more than passengers. Which one will provide best pricing and financing? Like Expedition exterior. But looks like Expedition. I have owned several models of Toyotas. They were excellent in the old days 😊

    The ford 365 days a year 24/7, way better ride quality, comfort, and now reliability that was Toyota’s prize and crown which is now down the poop chute. I know our eco boost motor is better than their copy and paste version of it because mine has 107k issue free, and my friend has 315k, also issue free besides a starter and a water pump. Styling is just an opinion so that’s up to you to decide. These are my thoughts

    Great vid! Very disappointed with the space/configuration of the Sequoia's rear. Reason for trading my 4Runner would be for space. I think the Hybrid only option was a bad move due to the space required by the batteries. Also feel that the center console feels cheap. Sequoia is off my list. Ford has the win so far......and, so does my 2018 4Runner.

    I own both. Expedition is by far the better overall vehicle. The Sequoia just looks awesome. Both are the top model : Capstone for Toyota and Platinum for Ford. Functionally and features are more usable and and functional in the Ford Expedition. Power is definitely better from the Ford Expedition. I love both each in its own way but for a family usage, the Expedition is the clear choice. Fuel economy is a lie with the Toyota but more true with the Ford. The only category that the Toyota wins is the tough looks .. if you got the money for both, buy both but if you want a good, reliable and friendly to use vehicle, the Ford Expedition wins hands down. Good luck !!!

    The Sequoia had an independent rear suspension but decided to ditch it for the new generation. Wonder if it was removed to create space for the battery?

    • @denirobernard9745
      @denirobernard9745 Рік тому

      It was. Too many silly decisions made to not only make space for the battery, but to also have the battery inside of the vehicle instead of being lower and outside

  • @RJ-vc2ju
    @RJ-vc2ju Рік тому +2

    You shouldn't state that the Sequoia 'still' has the solid rear axle. As you know, the previous Sequoia had an independent rear suspension. Additionally, you missed a key item in the drivetrain, the Sequoia is not available with full-time 4wd/AWD. Also, your video showed that the starting price for the Sequoia was $58k and the Expedition was $53k, and then you went on to say the Toyota wins on cheaper base price.
    I think the Toyota is hands-down a winner in the resale category based on reputation alone, although I've been quite disappointed with their materials quality lately. I owned a 2012 Sequoia since new (for 10 years) and now own a 2022 Sequoia TRD Pro. Can't even compare the two in terms of interior plastic quality and fit and finish.
    The only Toyotas that have seemed to retain their interior quality are the made-in-Japan models (4Runner and certain hybrid models). This new Sequoia / Tundra will need to earn their way into the quality pedestal, as it seems that initial quality has dropped a bit for the US, Mexico, and Canada-made Toyota vehicles.

    I have the sequoia. This generation has a major vibration issue. Toyota knows about it but is trying to play it off as road feed back. Toyota quality has gone to crap. It’s a beautiful vehicle but $80k should not be vibrating down the road. Disappointment dealing with Toyota customer service to get this resolved. Vibration is so bad for some customers that they just trade in and go upside down.

My complaints are the following sound noise in cabin insulation, not having double panels glass in ALL glass, not having an extra large fuel tank for a coast to coast cannonball runs. Not offering satellite service for the life of the vehicle, the sequia lacks technology equivalent to audi A8L long wheelbase. This vehicle has a poor suspension and a poor monitor, I would like to have a Samsung note 23 plus ultra 12inch screen Toyota give us what we want.

      Driven a 23 Ford Expedition Platinum for a test drive, and I was very impressed the smooth ride, handling, and performance! Road across a RR crossing didn't notice the tracks! Have not driven the new Sequoia yet! That 3rd seat is very disappointing! Just looking at it! I had a 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition, and had a 6 foot 4 passenger in the back drove it from DC to Philly! Not one time the passenger complained bout leg or head room! That's my only concern about this redesign on a $75,000 truck with no flat floor for cargo spacing, too, as well! Toyota missed the mark on that one! BIG time! I may regret it later! Expedition! WINNER!
