I'm shocked NYC is so low on this list. "Rent so high even cockroaches have roommates" that's a good one 😂😂
Right?!
New York has a lot to offer. Broadway, Central Park, Times Square, the museums, and the list goes on. One of my favourite cities to visit b/c you can walk to just about everything or take a short subway/cab ride. I do understand why people hate it though.
San Diego and San Francisco has NYC beat
It’s a great city if you don’t throw your money around like a tourist. Most residents have boring lives like their suburban counterparts.
@@Ltlmscrl Not necessarily true. There's plenty of free or cheap things to do
People are actually moving back INTO Detroit, but mainly the downtown district due to the many new condos and apartments going up. Many are sold before they're finished. Many of the run down areas bordering downtown are being revitalized. The city has a ways to go, but it is getting nice.
@@detroit8v715 Gentrification.
@@thedirtybubble9613 zackly
@@thedirtybubble9613 you act like that’s a bad thing. Everyone else left, now it’s dirt cheap and people move back and you go, “gentrification.”
Gentrification is when majority groups purchase up low value housing, raise the rent, and force others out. It used to be an issue when banks collaborated against minority communities to not give them loans.
Everyone left Detroit. It went from a population of 2 million down to a population of 600,000. There’s a lot of empty homes to be renovated, and dirt cheap land to buy up. So now people are moving back to snatch that up. That’s the opposite of gentrification.
@@mr.doctorcaptain1124 Be careful what you wish for. I seen gentrification ruin my hometown. But Detroit has a ways to go before we talk about that.
Awesome !
I like what you said about Las Vegas. Las Vegas does seem to take pride in its tackiness. That is part of its charm.
I love it there !!
Isn't that kind of the whole point of Las Vegas?
@@athiestjesus8133 Yes, I suppose so. I lived there for a year. And yes, LV is loud and proud of their kitsch and tackiness. I loved their version of museums like the Elvis museum, the Liberace museum, the neon museum and my favorite the nuclear museum.

I forgot about the mob museum. I didn't go there. I bet it's a lot of fun.
I concur with Los Angeles. It's Hell on Earth. All the sunny weather won't save it.
I hated Los Angeles. It was awful. Except the Rose Bowl parade. That was a really cool experience. Everything else... nope no thank you

I came here to see how St. Louis and Chicago ranked.
Alot of people hate Chicago from the outside looking in. Chicago is great to visit. And it's as safe, if not safer than any other major city if you're not involved in criminal activities.
I lived in St Louis for about 6 years from Australia. I have many fond memories of the place. I had some negative experiences also, but the good ones outnumbered the bad ones by far. A lot of friendly people live there.

I wouldn't live in the city but they have the best food in the world. Chicago is the place to get fat 'n' happy. Great arts, history, and entertainment town, too. I like the 'burbs, though. Nice places to live. But yeah, the property and income taxes are nuts.
Imagine buying a home in Chicago and paying some the worst property taxes in the country to find out JP Morgan owns the street in front of it.

Memphis needs to be on this list
Locals are the most surly people I have ever encountered. Waiting on a paying customer is like I am doing the local a huge favor
The problem with Memphis is that I don’t think enough people visit or have moved there to know they hate it lol!

Generally it seems that if people have to live in a big city for a long time and can't leave, they come to hate it eventually. But it seems the same goes to the rural areas😂 So, the grass is alwsys greener on the other side.
As a super proud Chicago resident, I was heartbroken at it being on the list but delighted at the compliments it still got
Briggs must have lost $20 in Las Vegas in the past and has held a grudge ever since. But seriously, people hate Las Vegas so much that 40.83 million people visited last year and volume is up 4% so far this year.
Give people a choice from this list... visit Trenton, Newark, Detroit, or Vegas to visit? Lol!
Visiting mean you get to leave. Lucky people.
The thing about Detroit is you have to want to go there, it’s not on the way to anywhere in the U.S. I wonder how many people that voted for it have only watched UA-cam videos.
I love Detroit. I visited last year and it’s coming back strong 💪🏻
@@harrymaciolek9629 if you cut through Ontario it’s on the way to Buffalo and Niagara Falls
@@athiestjesus8133 That’s more for people already in the Detroit area. If you’re from Chicago or west you’d probably stay on I-90. Maybe a few more miles but you skip the border crossings. Michigan is like Maine. You have to want to go there.
It's almost like Canada doesn't exist to some people.
@AbstractEntityJ I mean, if it ceased to exist tomorrow... would it really matter?
And the most loved cities in 'Murica are: Bugtussle, Hooterville, Petticoat Junction, Hazzard, Possum Hollow, Mayberry and every city named Lynchburg.
Gotham, Metropolis, Springfield and, the greatest one of all, the Emerald City.

@marvinheemeyer6660 that is true they definitely have good food in New Orleans
Congratulations New Jersey. You got so many cities on the list.
L.A. traffic is the worst. Anytime I had a VA appointment at the Wilshire VA hospital it would take at least 2 hours to get there from Camarillo when it should only take 30 minutes. Glad the traffic in Tulsa isn't as bad.

Vegas is like that person who’s attractive when you meet them at night in a bar but not so much when the sun comes up. It’s disgusting.

Before playing the video, I’m guessing New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Philly, St. Louis, and Baltimore
I was close. To be honest, I thought the New Jersey and yes Trenton and Newark. I thought Camden was going to be one of them.
Unfair for St Louis, I lived there for 6 years and met a lot of friendly people. When you treat people the way you want to be treated, life becomes a whole lot easier.

Before watching this I’m going to guess that NYC, Chicago, and Philly are on this list. 3 of the best cities in the country, but they’re prominent so many people will have strong feelings in either direction.
Agree with you. Only a few, maybe ten places in US have that real 'city life vibe'. But even that only few places of them have more charm and attractiveness than average South or Midwest suburb non-sense bunch of paper-and-sticks made boxes in the middle of nowhere.
NYC f-ing sucks though. I hate that damn place so much.
Philly has all of NYC's disadvantages, and none of NYC's good points. At least it's cheaper, though.

How can Detroit be #1 and Baltimore not make the list?
For what it's worth, Baltimore is a hell of a lot better off than Detroit.

I used to live in Belmont Shores near Long Beach and it used to take me 2 hours to get to work in Anaheim. I now live in Cheyenne Wyoming and it roughly takes me 20 minutes to drive 40 miles.
So, you drive 120 mph, eh?
@@crazeyjoe why not 😁
I lived and/or worked in a small city in Northwest Georgia for most of my life. At one point, I lived on the west side of town and worked on the east side of town. I lived a little more than 5 miles from work. There were several left turns where you could only turn left on a green arrow. It wasn’t uncommon for it to take 25-30 minutes to get to work.
I moved to a smaller town 19 miles southeast of where I worked. I got to work quicker when I lived 19 miles away. The only left turns were from the street I lived on to the highway that ran between the two towns and then turning left into the parkway lot at work. The intersection to get on to the highway had a four stop. There only three traffic lights on that highway between home and work.
I only drove through Cheyenne once, on the freeway. I couldn't believe how little traffic there was in the biggest city in WY. What was weird was that as soon as I crossed the state line into CO, the traffic doubled. Even though that's a pretty rural part of CO, there was still twice as much traffic as there was in the largest city in WY.
Just once, I would love to maybe spend a day in Chicago and have a slice of deep dish pizza.
In peace.

I had a 5 hour layover in Philly. Caught the train from the airport to downtown and grabbed a cheese steak and went back to the airport. That was enough of Philly to know I don't need to return.
I had a couple hours at the airport before my sister arrived. So I drove into South Philly, grabbed a big steak sandwich, and found I could only eat half of it. By the time my sister arrived, the sandwich was cold. Not only did she eat it, but she said it was the best steak sandwich she'd ever eaten.

What about Dallas? They have the Cowboys and that's enough of a reason.
I think it should be more than just that to be that hated. Obviously for sure more hated than Fort Worth, but likely not as much as Houston (cuz of hurricanes and flooding). Dallas may have such heat, but at least not as humid as Houston, nor it has as much traffic as Los Angeles.
@@rawburtfuzzles3373 I don't hate a city because of natural disasters unless they are negligent in dealing with them.
Based on that logic, Boston should definitely be on this list before Dallas.

Atlanta has big problems yes, but overall i found people decent overall, i can think of many cities thats not the case. Southern hospitality, they may be hateful sometimes, but its behind your back instead of in your face :) i prefer that personally
I am absolutely stunned that Houston is not on this list. Even POTUS in the movie 'Independence Day' hated Houston so much that he decided to sacrificially nuke it for God sake.
Houston is awesome. You just need money, a fast car, and love hot weather. But, there's everything you could possibly need to develop a career in virtually any field without going to New York or LA.
I agree with Houston. My husband and I were thinking about moving to Texas, so we spent a week exploring the East side of Texas. We love Galveston, San Antonio, and everywhere we visited . . . EXCEPT Houston. Houston is a pimple on Texas' butt.

Brigg is so right about the rough around the edges vibe of Philly. I once drove up from DC to watch a baseball game at the old Vet Stadium. 2 things stand out…1)I saw this couple in a heated argument in the middle of the game and everyone acted like nothing was happening. I thought he was going to knock the Mario coins out her head and 2)after the game ended, everyone is the parking lot trying to leave. A van and stationwagon full of people were honking & cussing at each other. Next thing you know the guys in both vehicles jumped & started wailing on each other. A middle aged woman jumped out of the vehicle to berate them but they stopped. Still the crazy I’ve seen around a game & I’m a NYer
I bet people thinking San Francisco would make the list watch Fox News 😂😂

CHICAGO SUCKS.
I’m from Chicago originally. It’s a horrible city, totally overrated. There’s a reason it’s lost 1/3 of its population. Was there last in 2022 and hope to never set foot in that cesspit again.
🧢. We don't need you. There's always a newcomer to gladly take your spot. Chicago is underrated, doesn't get enough attention, and is a fun city
Your explanations for Vegas and Chicago were pretty odd. You painted the entire Vegas valley as the strip or downtown yet you give Chicago the exact opposite treatment. You specifically only called out the dangerous areas of Chicago and the fact that the rest of the city is nice and safe. Really weird to paint with such broad strokes for some cities and then do the opposite with others. Still enjoy the vids but just wish there was more consistency at times.
Vegas is ok but not great for long term living. I’m from Chicago, and lives blocks from the lakefront and beach. Summers are intended to enjoy outdoors. You gotta spend 5 months out of the year indoors during the day in LV 😬
he does that all the time. No idea how he has any fans
@@qikstar to be clear I think his explanation for Chicago was very fair and good. I was comparing that to how insanely unfair his one of Vegas was. Vegas is absolutely perfect place to live year around. When you acclimate to the weather, the temps are not bad at all. The main point I wanted to get across is how idiotic it sounds to complain that Vegas is all lights and noise. There is so much more to Vegas than the strip and downtown and he just ignores it all.
@@nicko5945 Could be wrong because it's just my theory & not necessarily a declaration of facts BUT in my humble opinion? I think it's because he's probably spent a little more time in Chicago than he has in Vegas. Just a speculation. It may or may not be based on ignorance, even though he has obviously traveled to virtually every part of the lower 48 States. Either that OR his individually isolated personal experience (is/was) significantly different than your average Las Vegas resident. His perspective might be different based on that. Possibly? Just a guess......LMK if my theory sounds off base or not.
@nicko5945 Is it possible that he is simply listing off the reasons the people gave in the comment sections as to why they hated those cities. Also, regardless of if you are a year-round resident or a visitor, you still will form an opinion of a place, and both have value. Many visitors and ywar round residents hate Vegas cause it's a sh!t hole. Those are fair opinions.
I am shocked Camden did not make the list. Also Boston is terrible. Just the traffic. Once I got off the highway it took me 48 minutes to go 1.7 miles to get to my destination. Ok, yes it was Friday rush hour but that is still unreal.

Boston. Many reasons...EZ ones traffic, narrow streets, could go on & on. Not 4 me.
@mtgpackrat7945 Boston is called "The Hub" for a reason, you go around and around and around like a wheel! lol Lots of one way streets as well. Used to be a big sign on Storrow Drive during the "Big Dig" that said if you lived in Boston you'd already be home! smdh
There's no question Camden is worse than just about anywhere, but to hate a place, you've got to spend some time there.
You said Troy, my mind went immediately to Troy, MI. I knew Chicago would be on this list. I love Chicago! My husband and camped in Chicago for a week! Officially, just outside the city limits, but close enough there were gates...We were able to spend so much time in Chicago! Awesome campground! The host was not sugar coating anything! Chicago is an amazing place just like any city on this list. I can totally understand why people hate this city! I just view this city different.
It's St. Lousy, Misery.
Chicago 😂😂 but it offers a lot for what you get. Best summer city, no question! Just bring a bulletproof vest!
When Detroit gets its crime under control, it’s gonna take off. There’s almost entire neighborhoods that possess empty lots that have all the utilities leading to them. It’s also smack dab in the middle of a major waterway. That is the initial reason it got so prominent in the first place (cars came later), and that waterway has improved since then. Plus, it’s dirt cheap - if crime is brought to a reasonable level, it’s a place for young people who can take their jobs with them to move to as it would be an incredible bargain for them (as people will still disparage even when crime will be low). A safer Detroit will be an attractive location for logistics firms; that could be the basis for an economic revival. New blood moving in to a safer Detroit will bring the initiative and funds needed to revive the place - the economy will somewhat follow.
That is the same for all of these ci

So I'm from Detroit. Been here the majority of my life. And if you look at our history, the good, the bad, and the ugly, then more people would understand what we've been through and the tremendous progress this city has made. Do we still have a long way to go? Absolutely. But the community and pride of the people here is like no other. And who are the people making these votes? Because honestly it was definitely a few cities that should have been on this list before Detroit.
The unfortunate thing is it seems like the only attention Michigan gets is negative. You don’t usually hear about it any other time.
When I was in the Navy, we went to Philadelphia and they told us the city of brotherly love. LOL.
I was born and raised in and around Newark. Not surprised where it is on the list. Same goes for NYC. I'm a beach person, so my favorite places are beach destinations. Haven't made it to the Miami area yet so I can't give an opinion on that area. That said, Las Vegas is my favorite inland city. I'd go there a lot more than I do if I could even though I'm not into gambling. I love the party atmosphere and the shows.
As far as Vegas, I love all the lights, but when we stopped in after our day trip to the Grand Canyon we couldn’t find a decent hotel and went on toward CA and couldn’t find a hotel with a room until Barstow. Let’s just say they earned their name of “Sin City”. It is the only place we visited where people were walking around in groups swigging from bottles while they walked the streets. Been there, seen some of it, won’t be back.
There are over 154,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas. If you couldn't find a decent one then you're not looking hard enough or you're too cheap to pay for a good one. Please do not come back. The 40 million people who visited last year are more than enough. 🤣

The Luxor? Do not stay there. Ugh. Find a hotel that's better. And Grand Canyon is not Las Vegas. FLAGSTAFF AZ is much closer to the Grand Canyon and it's an easy run to Calif. Get a map for goodness sakes! People RESERVE rooms in the TINY village outside The Grand Canyon. Research.
@@FranklinJuniper-uh2lk Thanks you, now you caught my interest, what is wrong with the Luxor? Our only plan was to get our son out to Med school with his car and we drove 2 vehicles from Chattanooga to the Grand Canyon non-stop, just rotating drivers. It was a last minute decision to stop at the GC, then stayed overnight AT Flagstaff then our daughter wanted to see (and stay) at the Luxor. We had enough time, and we weren’t coming back that way so we drove to Vegas spur of the moment. I am sure if it were planned we could have gotten a room, our planned visits were in CA and for our route home. Briggs should do a vid on the states with the worst roads in America - New Mexico would be #1!
Unfortunately for Vegas being the entertainment capital of the world and having special events going on all the time, you can't just roll up to one of those mega resorts and expect to get a room on the spot. You have to book ahead. Before you truly make up your mind to never return, I encourage you to actually plan for a night or two there (not while passing through). Research it well, and go with an open mind. If it's still not your thing afterwards, then cross it off the list. There are many Vegas youtubers and locals with unbiased videos showcasing both the good and bad of Las Vegas, not like Briggs here who just trashes it every chance he gets.
There is so much more to Vegas than the strip. It’s a paradise for people who love the outdoors or families with kids. There are tons of options for both.
And tons of churches and temples and mosques and synagogues. They welcome all families!
I’m surprised Atlanta didn’t make the list! With all the bad traffic, weather and crime the city sucks!
Oakland? Bakersfield? Fresno? Salinas? Detroit is doing great these days
Only downtown Detroit is doing great, the rest of the city not so much...
The science is in: avoid blue cities.
The larger the city the more likely they vote blue, even in red states.
I bet Phoenix, Arizona didn't make the list again. I'd like to know when and where the next poll on a topic like this will be, so I can immediately nominate Phoenix, AZ.
It's not the cities themselves that people hate, it's the lawless people that occupy those cities.
I've lived in Chicago for 42 years. I'm 76 and will probably not live to see this city ever solve it's money problems. I love Chicago, but if you live in a nice neighborhood on the Northside, the property taxes are brutal and getting worse because of the insatiable need for more and more revenue Still, it is WAY less expensive overall to live here as compared to LA or NYC..
Don’t sleep on Newark, it’s made an almost epic comeback. LA isn’t the worst place in the US, it’s the worst in the world
I was almost positive my hometown of Stockton Cal. would be on this list...LOL
NYC baby. Gotta love it
All my top picks ended up on here
How did Houston not make this list? This place is like a toilet volcano.
I thought for sure Louisville Kentucky would have been in the numbers.
Why though? I grew up in Louisville and it’s a city that never really gets much attention good or bad
5:13 Trenton has great history and potential. They should clean things up for starters and build a new state capitol to replace that mismatched piece of junk.
Chicago is fabulous. I lived in NYC for 24 years. Visiting Chicago has always been a joy.
I was curious to see if my hometown Cleveland was going to make it, but we've lost so much population that we might not have made the top 75 metro area list.
Las Vegas? Everyone keeps going back.😂
Thanks!
Thanks John
I'm confused about that people choice to be honest. What about the Montgomery AL, New Orleans LA, Albuquerque NM or the Portland OR ? Are you guys would rather live there than in mentioned cities from top?
Detroit... on top of the list... I am shocked!
Nashville has become a complete cesspool!
Interesting. Thanks, Briggs!
Chicago is fun. I had a blast living there. It’s just stay out of the west and south side. Great food and fun nightlife. Miami is fun also. Weather is great in the winter. LA is better than San Francisco for sure. Cold weather SF!
St. Louis sucks. I agree
Some of my guesses before watching: Boston, Houston, Philadelphia, new orleans
Newark NJ has an awful airport that's big and poorly laid out and frequently delayed.
I'm surprised Seattle, Portland and San Francisco were not listed.
