Well, Disney didn't make up the Pinocchio story, they just made the animated version of it. So yeah. The STORY itself is timeless. This looks amazing, and some of you would complain if your ice cream were cold. Good Lord.

I mean, not to be racist, but I'm italian and this story is narrated to us since childhood through books, television, it is thaught in schools. Collodi wrote the story setting it in 1800's Tuscany and clearly describes the Blue Fairy as being, as the name says, a blue fairy, with pale, ethereal skin and long blue hair.
Making it a black woman and, of all things, bald, is deeply disrespectful.

Roberto Benigni's 2019 Italian film did this story justice. I loved the actresses who play the Blue Fairy culturally accurate in that film..

There's an Italian/French/British 2019 co-produced film, directet by Matteo Garrone, which is much better. This Disney crap though, it stinks much worse than Benigni's flick because it's done with millions of dollars. Benigni's production value at the time was the equivalent of what in America would be called an amateur low budget indie movie. What's Disney's excuse for sucking this much?

There are live action versions of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. One of them is a Made for TV movie starring Anthony Hopkins as the Quasimodo the Hunchback. There is also the OLD OLD version with Charles Laughton as the Hunchback. Of course they are both old so they wouldn't have the AWESOME Visuals of Todays world but they are still good movies.

I don’t think it would work for Disney unless they make it PG-13. The cartoon is already dark in tone, I mean it’s based on a Víctor Hugo novel. In the book Esmeralda is actually burned at the stake.

What I'm worried about is that Pinocchio was an entertainingly dark movie, and I got a feeling that Disney won't have the cojones to take the same liberties with this remake. A lot of people will assume that this adaption will be more 'mature' because it's NOT a cartoon, but this movie will most likely play it safe and be more inoffensive and 'kid friendly', like when they scaled down the Beast's appearance in the Beauty and the Beast remake, removed the epic scene of Genie turning giant and lifting the palace from the Aladdin remake (and the giant snake), the pink elephants from Dumbo, the hellish spectacle of Be Prepared from The Lion King, and so on. I don't hold out much hope for this movie.

25 years ago, I heard Tom Hanks recite these words. It's incredibly surreal to hear him say them again.
Nothing against the actress, it's a job. But to the casting director, to the art director and to the producers of the movie: if you want to change a character's race to another, then fine. But don't change the look. Why make her bald, when in the original movie this film is ripping off the character has very notorious blonde hair? At that point, why even add the wings and the blue dress? Why not make Geppeto a young asian man? Why not turn the cricket into a puppy? Why keep some aspects close to the original but change others so much? Consistency is key. Either change EVERYTHING, or change nothing. These in-betweens are terrible.

The idea is that if media illustrates fantastically beautiful characters (like fairies) as bald, for example, balding women in the future could be comfortable and feel beautiful in their skin, as the population has been taught at a young age that it is. Balding sucks even for men, and bald men are absolute badasses in media; there are *many* women who *prefer* it even, probably due to seeing confident, badass, bald men on the screen their whole lives. So imagine how much it sucks for a woman to go bald, when she doesn’t have the benefit of media teaching young boys and girls that it’s okay.
It was jarring for me too, but then I thought about it and that’s what I came up with.

I’ll still probably watch this just out of curiosity but so far with only one or two exceptions I haven’t really cared for the live action remakes. And those two exceptions were because I hadn’t seen the animated versions before hand.

I would even kinda understand a delicate little small one at about 15% opacity, or even maybe a more slightly bolder one that was just at the beginning or something but y'all really went all in on that hu

Maybe to claim their contribution to the distribution of the trailer so another company doesn't edit it out to share the trailer (tricky to do when the watermark is at 100% opacity). It's a Disney movie so I'm sure ET is getting good money to promote the film. It wouldn't surprise me if I saw other UA-cam channels take this trailer and stick their own watermark on top of it.
At least that's how I see it.
