L lots of us would have health issues to deal with like more PAIN etc plus obligations to family etc so no bug out Z& on SSDI etc so nothing here but me etc what is left after call the other stuff that has already so likely starting over.🙏❤️✌️🥸🌍✅

I just want to say one thing about "bugging in". Protect your supplies against roving gangs of mauraders! And you can identify them by the FEMA on their jackets.
Or their blue helmets
Bugging in is a dumb idea. People WILL eventually come for your home. A big enough band of marauders that are armed, will eventually get to you and your stuff.

I’m prepped. I get this a lot…”If SHTF, I’m coming to your house”!! My answer is always the same.
Tell them you'll have booby traps, and they'll be safer if they start prepping now. Give them lists and videos, tell them pointers, but remain firm that what's yours is yours.
Great video! I am a "certain age" and bugging out just isn't feasible for me. I have bugged out for hurricanes in the past, but it was such a stressful ordeal, I have stayed in for other hurricanes. All of my real supplies, needs, etc., are in my home. I feel pretty safe, have good neighbors that don't leave. They aren't prepared for any kinds of disasters, either, but that's another story. 😏 I have prepped for several years now, and I feel secure in my home. Bugging out isn't a solution for everyone.

Just came back from a short city break. We did carry on luggage only with limited space (under seat) so chose a back pack to carry my items in. I am a 50 something small female who does not exercise regularly so was a little concerned about the weight and my abilities. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to travel and walk for hours with the pack on but I was very tired and my hips ached the next day. Going to keep walking from now on and build up my stamina gradually.

Good rule of thumb for fuel. Destination should be 3/4 tank away.
Don't forget the transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid flush,rear and front differential oil. Neglect of these will bite you.
Let's see, what else could happen on the road? Because I KNOW...that driving makes even the most ill-tempered of us, so calm...so...rational, almost...altruistic. I mean, I look at myself and I'm admittedly...a bit high-strung, but behind the wheel? I'm an angel....one in particular. Lucifer. He's the....right? Good guy? So..yeah. Do not drive alone. Driver takes the wheel....passenger mans the AR. And you want more than one passenger. Oh...P.S. I love my 19C with the new steel spring, rail mount for my light/blue dot the haters? Can drool.
The only reason I'm gonna try to leave home would be due to nuclear radiation.
That's why I prep the basement with food and water, masks, radio and such as well. In case I can't leave I can last ditch effort to avoid disaster maybe.
Also, love this channel bud. You talk way more realistic and not overly ridiculous suggesting the most expensive gear or over the top items. Probably my favorite channel
I have a tiny 1.4 diesel car that does 98mpg @ 60mph and keep a tank worth in gerry cans. A 99.9mah jumping pack is in my tool kit. The winch and boards are next.
I have a solar generator power unit too. I'm getting a small trailer soon too. A wind up radio in the car trunk/boot is an sos need.
400 ft gated driveway, barbed perimeter fences and cross fences, two big dogs and... Other defenses. If crime starts to become a problem in my area, I'll hear about it long before I'm targeted. I'm already bugged out. I can't understand why people plan to take action AFTER it's far too late.

Ice chests are a great alternative for water proof containers. Being from the coastal bend area and in Houston. Most people won’t bat an eye an with a truck full of it.
And reasonably priced storage, with “cooler use at point of finish “.
Dude your truck gets 23 miles per gallon mine gets 16 on its best day I'll take 23 miles per gallon all day long

Im 63, in good health taking care of my 90 year old mom. I have no one else. We have fantastic neighbors, we talk to each other, live in the suburbs with wooded lots and other resources. We also have a wide variety of skills. If it's not going to wipe us out or irradiate us, we're not going anywhere. We're also very, very quiet.

Just a heads up with the tire stuff. When I was doing emergency services work in Katrina I always carried a case of flat fix with sealant. Yeah it kills fixing the tire when you get it back to the shop, but it is a quick fix and moves you downthe road. Keep up the good work young fella. Be well.

I own a Jeep Wrangler. A few years ago I had a Jeep upfitter install a twelve-gallon auxiliary fuel tank to the space between my spare tire and the rear of the Jeep. It came with a long "shaker syphon" hose that makes transferring fuel from that tank into the primary. It cost roughly four-hundred dollars ($700 installed) and I couldn't be happier. It does block the rearview a little but not enough for me to be concerned over. The brand is TITAN. Hope this helps. 😁

I think it depends on the situation, and as such I think it’s best to take the mindset of increasing your options. Definitely plan on escape if necessary, everyone should have a bug out bag and a location. There are very good reasons why your main location might not be safe. It could be that because it’s a big city, you are dependent on things being brought in and that isn’t going to happen long term. You may be a visual outlier (minority race or religion) in a time when that’s dangerous. Your primary location could be damaged or unsafe. There could be looting and crime. In any of those situations, leaving might be your best bet.
On the other hand, if it’s short term and the situation is stable, staying home is the better default answer. It doesn’t create problems where there wasn’t one before. And it’s also going to make you at least something of a target if locals see your loaded down escape wagon and decide to risk trying to take your stuff.

I work at tye Jeep plant in Toledo and have been there for 10 years. I work on the Wrangler side but every once in awhile I work the Gladiator side for OT. I'll be getting my Gladiator in a couple months and can't wait.
May i suggest a 4runner not great gas mileage but run almost forever.
Every 8 weeks my son who is 13 and I have to travel 450kms one way for his braces appointment. We have it down to a tea who we pack and why.

Why not install a larger fuel tank on your gladiator. A topper could double your cargo capacity.

Are you suggesting @14:58 that if your wife starts yarping for any reason...to set her off on the curb and use her seat to store an Anker (or compatible) solar generator? Just wondering... Good vid as usual. Comment on the tire thing: I'm late 60's and find it VERY hard to remove a flat tire that has been wrenched on with an impact tool (me using a 4-way or not). Wife doesn't change tires, never has, not going to. When I get my tires rotated on the BRONCO (read: not a Gladiator) or get new ones, I ask that they put them on by hand. Forgot this last time, got greeted by a flat not too many mornings ago, and almost wrenched my back out and tore up my arthritic hands changing the tire. Just a tho't. On the gas thingy, we never let our vehicles get below ¾ tank. Pain, yes, but we're assured that we have near maximum mileage at all times. Also, our stored pusholine in the garage is measure in miles, not gallons. At any time we know how far we can get if the plop-plop hits the rotary oscillator.

Bugging out scares me, worst case scenario having a 22 month old and my wife definitely is creature comfort’s kind of girl, although my 7 year old would probably love it.
I’ve placed caches all around the area also if needed.

We do have bug out stuff but in all realistic scenarios I'll probably get called up or volunteer to the front line. It is fun to take my stuff camping every year for a week.
Get a gazateer for any state you may travel in.
😮😮Tornado is the reason we would need to leave home here in Kansas. But only need to go far enough to get out of the path, and they travel pretty fast, so we wouldn't need to stay anywhere unless of course our house was hit. Enjoyed seeing your 4 year old, he's a cutie!!!!

if you bug out without a safe destination you become just another refugee ... yes gas and know the alternate routes .. or combination of routes ... good spares and extra fuel always ready to go... radio and coms etc.... great real life exercise thanks for sharing

While I agree to a point but if you live in a city of millions, you likely do not have a choice. People during Katrina who bugged in, did not fare too well.
Not really comparable... The people who didn't leave New Orleans, weren't preparing for emergency, even when they were told it's coming... The mayor was literally partying at his hotel "headquarters" when the storm hit... Smart people in Louisiana do not challenge natural disasters in an unprepared way... New Orleans people who stayed, were not smart people.

Just so you know, most passenger vehicle get their best milage somewhere between 58 and 62 miles per hour.
You might also want to know that springtime in Wyoming can be defined with the following: Sunny but overcast, calm but windy, 65 degrees and snow and that’s just the first day. After that all bets are off.

The risk of trouble between ´have and have not´is greater than most believe.
Just keep a low profile.
Underground storage in barrels. Plastic or metal 25 gal. Or 55 gal. Could hold a lot of things besides foods and supplies. Lead and brass too.
Our age prevents many baby boomer preppers from bugging out.
The answer is, move out of the cities and large towns, if you can, before problems arise.
We moved into our small English village years ago when we began prepping.
Planning ahead defines preppers and this is one of those life changing and life saving actions to consider.
Well put and GREAT advice. Even if you set up a camp for summer months. We can be at ours in 25 min. 6 months out of the year. The other 6 it's too cold to trek outdoors long.

i have a Jeep Gladiator. The best mpg I ever got was 20mpg. That's driving at the speed limit or wayyy below. How did you accomplish 23mpg?
The terrain was flat and we only went around 60-65. We also didn’t have to start and stop a lot. After we got off that particular road, it went back down. In town, driving normally, I only get around 15. The tonneau cover has helped.
Never rely on forecasts in rural or mountainous areas. Prepare based on data and trends.
Question: your route to Idaho did you travel through Nevada or through Utah?

Possibly. I hadn’t thought about it until you and someone else mentioned it.
Keep it within ~2.5 hrs and under ~150 miles. If you breakdown half way, thats still a long walk and several days but odds are you know someone along the way you can check in on. A thousand miles on foot means you're not making it bud
Jeeps handle like a beast. 55 mph on 6” of snow. Last year got through 30” of snow in 2 wheel drive first track
I really like the Mojave. It was designed for desert racing but many of those design features also make it really good on the road also.

My wife and kids don't know it yet, but I am leaving them behind to tend to the garden.
I live in mass. If Washington is struck I have 8 hrs. Nuclear to bug out. 8 hrs. if NY is struck have 4 hrs. and drive thru those storms t o get to work on a daily basis

The snow and ice were. Lol I didn’t realize that the interstate ran right by the Little Bighorn battleground. There isn’t a whole lot along that route.
