Yes, she did. I noticed the similarity right away, but didn't understand the purpose of it until Riker mentioned it. All those years of being married to an empath have changed him. He's gotten more perceptive, but unlike Troi, he needs physical phemenonal to perceive before drawing conclusions. So the timing was a bit contrived, but ok.

Jonathan Frakes NAILS this. Soooo good! This man needs to act more -- a lot more. He adds touches of vulnerability, sadness, loss, weariness, but most of all, a sublime warmth. Some people age, some age well, still others are like him -- they don't age. They improve.

Riker new the deal but as soon as the girl did the famous head tilt… all questions answered. Riker was always badass. He was hands down one of my favorite from all the Star Treks. He has the charisma and sex appeal of Kirk, the daringness of Geordi and Data, the bad ass demeanor and confidence of Capt. Sisqo and Picard, the ready for battle of Worf and the ability to want peace like Spock. He was the whole package. This is why his character was and still well received and loved.

Unfortunately, this is really one of the high-points of season 1...but it's still actually not bad at all. Season 2 is better so far, however.
      .
Personally, one of the things a lot of people bitched about is the "copy-paste starfleet ships" at one point in the show...I preferred it. Aside from the Amphibious Assault Ships and Aircraft Carriers...most ships in any navy look pretty damned similar...almost identical, in most cases. I still have issues with Star Trek ships in general, but overall it was nice to see a fleet that looks like a legit fleet, as opposed to a hodgepodge of random design contest runners-up.

@@DoremiFasolatido1979 The US navy in particular is known for this due to the ludicrous number of Arleigh Burkes that have been built over the years. Small navies tend to have a bit more variety simply because they can't justify that sort of serial production so new hulls are usually a clean sheet design bought years apart.
In Trek, it's a legacy of the old physical model days where the studio only had so many high detail scale models due to budget and only so much time to composite shots due to production schedules. So all throughout TNG you'd keep seeing Excelsiors show up despite being an ancient design by that point. XD

I think the thing I love most...is that Riker's supposition of Picard's situation is completely believable. Every clue he mentions is pure speculation, and he knows it, but all of his inferences are completely reasonable.
    .
If you're "worried" about cloaked ships...it can technically mean anyone BUT the Federation (as cloaks of varying types are available on the black market), but would most likely mean Klingons (whose cloaks aren't all that good), or...Romulans, whose cloaks are improbably effective.
    .
If you're worried about Romulans, but your anxiety is that high, and you're trying that hard to "lay low", then you're not worried about their military, you're worried about their covert branch...the Tal'Shiar.
    .
And Picard wouldn't be dragging some random girl on all this, and fixating on her well-being so much, if he was the one on the run from the Tal'Shiar. He's clearly protecting her, so that means she's the target, and begs the question...why?
    .
She's absurdly skilled, and clearly a genius, but that doesn't necessarily mean "android". After all, Bashir and the other augments featured on DS9 could pretty well match Data in terms of cognitive abilities. But it already had Riker thinking, and then she did the head tilt...and that clinched it.
    .
The only reason Riker isn't the greatest captain in Starfleet history, is because he put his family first when it mattered most. But in terms of what he's capable of, he's THE best. Bar none.

Cindy Dott - Did he though? His experience in that had two components; societal, family and other information from an alien probe and the dreamscape of his own mind. He was experiencing nothing more than a highly vivid dream whose very emotional impacting outcome was completely predetermined by an alien system. He wasn’t choosing any life path inside there as he would have ended up at the same point no matter what he did. All of his small, personal choices trying to exert his personality and will towards the situation were, at best, like a movie-goer wiggling around in their seat and having the snacks they desired while the movie ground on to its inevitable end. I myself have had emotional experiences after a particularly good movie so such a response from him at the end of the episode is to be expected. I’ve wondered what would’ve happened to that races dream if the encountered ship was from a species with a different mindset like Klingon or Romulan. Obviously the race depicted would’ve altered to match the species, but would they have shaken away that dream plot in disgust, or would it be altered to fit with the encountered species? In that case would it be representative of the lost race anymore? An entire people’s legacy being lost due to an incompatibility with a dream host is saddening, I suppose. 🤷‍♂️ who knows how many civilizations (read “average humans”) rose in their life and then died in obscurity with no real mark left on the universe(world). Such a fate awaits us all…

No, I'm sorry, changed my mind. How can you not understand that what happened to him was not reality, the bearing it had on him was no more than that of a holodeck experience. Even if he wasn't sure about things at the beginning and ended up accepting everything, he would have known afterward it was all just a dream and as a person in the 24th century who was completely used to holodeck novels he would have dismissed it just as easily, albeit with the knowledge that it was the last posterity of a dead race. The best he could to do for them was write a book telling their story.

yep, I rewatch TNG every now and then for 20 years now but nearly always skip 1 season - everything from the weird mini skirts to Deanna's empty look was so bad. All characters looked empty compared to later seasons. Best worst part was the fact most female crew members were in the 'typewritter' position and gosh, the horrible bar chairs...
