#TopGun #Maverick #NeedForSpeed
This actually looks really really good! Especially with either the sunglasses or the helmet on. Gotta remember folks this is the older Tom Cruz headsculpt wo well done!!! Thanks again for the video Justin!
No probs! Yeah I'm really happy with him!
DID figures are almost kit like. Putting the figure together is considered the “fun” part. But boy is it a pain in the butt. I’d like to collect these but I don’t have the patience. Great review.
Yeah true!
This is a great figure. Glad to see DiD veer away from WWII figures. What's crazy is that this is the first 1/6 F/A 18 Pilot in over 10 years. Dragon did one back in 2001, BBI around 2003/04 and Hot Toys around 2010.
Agreed!
DID figures have always included the flexible hands. Their Captain Miller from Saving Private Ryan (another great figure btw) also had them. You have other options if you're not a fan.
Oh interesting
It looks so realistic
He does!
How did you attach all those extra pouches and parts?
There are no extra instructions on how to attach them?
My Maverick just has the body suit with nothing else cuz I have no idea how to attach all the extra parts.
I gave after 4 hours. I looked all over the Internet no one has instructions.
Please help? 🙏
DID nailed the Tom Cruise head sculpt - I picked up 2 of these last month.
Glad you like it!
After seeing this release I would like to see some mission impossible versions of Tom Cruises Ethan Hunt I have been wanting for years for some company to make some Ethan Hunt figures.
Me too! I was hoping HT could convince Tom to release his likeness for figures!
That would be dope
I'm surprised no one commented about the gray collar life preserver is too wide
Just you :)
I recall 2 or 3 different versions announced close together, and this was definitely the best. The helmet is my favorite. It has a great paint job, and sadly Military Presentations is no longer making their own (quality was declining too). After getting some proper modeling tweezers, assembly became so much easier, but good lord, not a pleasant experience.
The sculpt is decent, like you said. The narrow profile reduced the likeness, but made putting on the helmet much easier. With the helmet on (and mask) the likeness definitely jumps.
Jin Toy has a great upgrade option that is way cheaper than the V. Collectibles superior version. It's a great set for Top Gun fans. I hope they make a Rooster
Definitely those tweezers are a must! Helmet is dope no question, he’s currently wearing it in the display! Love Jin’s work I’ll check out his sculpt!
the hands with the holes in is very common. I've been collecting 1.6 for over 20 years and most brands do that, as the hands will be covered by gloves usually. Seen on DID, Soldier Story, DML etc....but to be fair, its been a few years since last saw them on any other brand than DID. This does look like a really nice figure!!
Oh maybe before my time
@@JustinsCollection haha now I feel old lol. I am really tempted with this figure
this version of maverick but young would be pure gold 😎
Agreed
Everytime I watch Maverick, I still tear up/cry. IMO, it's a perfect movie
The flying is absolutely unmatched in cinema. That part was brilliant. I just wish the main mission wasn't copying Star Wars.
Agreed
awesome figure and the head sculpt looks spot on
Nice!
Been avid watcher of your channel for several years now. Not sure what you have changed about your voice/voiceover technique but it’s vastly improved - please stick with this
Thank you! I actually took vocal coaching lessons
You'd definitely hate damtoys and other military figures because of the assembly involved.
Ah!
Do you have a video showing off your entire collection? I would LOVE to see that!
I have a whole playlist of tours actually
Yo my man Justin the figures you collect is amazing! I too collect action figures but not hot toys i really wanna buy some do u recommend which to buy ? Btw banger video as always !! :)
Thank you! Buy from wherever you feel comfortable
Wow! A life size Maverick/Tom Cruise figure! 😂
LOL
I don’t know what the scale is, but Ramen Toys is making a Maverick figure. I’m gonna see if it is a better option. Prototype looks good might have to see finished product. Has potential to be good.
Oh I'll look into it!
I love Tom Cruise
Nice!
Future build a figure episode???? Head swap and cockpit build? Would be cool!
Oh that would be dope!
My dad would want this because he’s a big big fan of top gun maverick
Fair
Does the helmet fit on the bag? This figure is so tempting to get but i am afraid its gonna start another line and its gonna make me hunt for those 1/18 F/A18 models to display with.
Not sure, it’s too cool to hide in a bag so I didn’t try
how did you manage to get the big black pipe to hold in this position? Did you use glue for the tip?
I used blue tack
When he says absolutely for when he says, does he regret it and then pauses and says not, I actually turn my head. I was surprised because I thought he had regretted it.
Haha got you!
6:37 He looks so cool just standing there.
He does!
That's a pretty cool figure! What else do they have?
Mostly military stuff
I think the reason why the hands have holes is so you can move it’s fingers
Yep
Okay the collar life preserver gray color is to wide,it's supposed to be narrow shape
Ah ok
this figure is cool and all but the only thing to make it complete is a 1/6th F/A-18 Rhino
That would be huge!
Looks like Tom Hanks to me, I'll stick to my custom with base....that helmet though...
Oh ok
hulk from the OG Avengers has the same hands in a 1/6 scale, but it worked with him
Yeah it worked for him
He is amazing.
He is!
i thin the whole 'dressing up the figure' thing is considred more of a feature of DID and not a bug.
Oh ok
Dammm I love top gun that’s my favourite film when did you get it
Awesome! I got it a few months back
They never seem to get the likenesses correct
Yeah
Hi, do you ship to the united states?
I'm not a seller lol
Splendid ❤
Thanks!
Good looking figure but you scared me by informing it took you two hours to get him fully dressed. I don’t have the patience or time. Lol… but he looks good. And I’ve seen better head sculpts you can replace him with.
Yeah it took ages!
Looks like Bill Hader.
Oh
I can't find him on the site
I believe he’s sold out
how much
Sold out now
We're is it from?
DID
NOW WE NEED THE JET 1/6 SCALE!
Haha that would be huge!
Is this the Scientology limited edition?
I knew there would be at least one
@@JustinsCollection as there should be. He’s a literal psycho lol
This looks close to perfect
Thank you!
His face looks better from far.
Agreed
I’m a potato
Hello potato
This 1/6th is horribly inacurate, if he was to scale, he would only stand 5 inches on a 1/6th scale. 😅
Lol
This one is fake your great My Dad that I wanna collection
Not sure what you mean
I think this guy's been drinking vodka
@@Anthony-fr2if a lot 😆
Just run it through drunk Google Translate
@JustinsCollection he's either on a ton of drugs, or needs to take more 😅

More to come!
Wooooow lifesize Tom Cruise figure for bargain! Amazing!
...
How did you put on all the POUCHES?!?!?
There are absolutely NOOOO instructions on how to attach all those extra pieces to the body suit.
I have no idea. I searched for hours.
Please Justin show us a step by step how to attach all those extra parts.
Ughhhh. I gave up after 4 hours of trying. I just have no idea.
I used mini tweezers, DID have an instruction video on their official UA-cam channel
Happy to hear you shout out to KG Hobby as I’ve been using them without a hitch for years, shame I missed out on this guy though…
Love KG HOBBY!
How long does it take for the figure to arrive to you once it's been shipped?
@@jennifertiemann6403 I've usually received mine in about 2wks (UK)
Yeah I've been buying from them for years
This is an incredible figure! I love mine and I can only hope they do a “Rooster” figure as well as an F-18 cockpit. 👍🏼
That would be dope
Will you be reviewing the new AOTC Anakin?
Already started filming!
@@JustinsCollection Bet, can't wait!
Great movie and great figure!!! Cruise kick asses!!!😂😂😂
Haha thanks
8:23 he looks like Stryker from x-men in this clip.💀 still either way the figure is awesome. Great review!
Oh interesting
Overall he is really good! Nice review Justin
Thank you!
DiD makes some of the best 1/6 gears, their attention to details is bar none I think. Too bad their figure choices are not my cup of tea.
The bendy hands have been a problem that are still not rectified unfortunately. IMO the only solution is to make plastic hands with articulated joints on the fingers a la Perfect Grade Gundam mechanical hands. This way you can easily slide the gloves on the fingers, the fit is better and the articulation would stay put.
Yeah I think they need to work on that
How'd this get by Tom Cruise's camp? He doesn't allow ANY likenesses of him to be made.
It’s unlicensed
"I feel the need ... the need for speed..."
Yes!
This reminds me of the old Hot Toys military figures. A ton of accessories and not a ton of instructions on how to put them together.
Legit
I know the real collar life preserver gray color, what looks like, it's not wide shape its more of narrow shape
Got it
Swap with Jin Toy head sculpt, which is 100 times better than this
Will do! Love Jin!
Would go great in a single seat Super Hornet R/C. Way better than plastic ones
That would be dope!
Aww wanted to see him in the back drop 😢
Ah damn!
"I feel the need, the need for speed."
Heck yeah!
I'm pretty sure someone has already brought this up, but it would be freaking awesome if there was a 1/6th scale F-18 Hornet to compliment the figure.
OR BETTER YET, it'd be really cool if there was a 1/6th scale version of Maverick in his Darkstar pilot gear complete with a 6th scale version of the Darkstar aircraft.
that would be dope! Someone is making that figure actually
@JustinsCollection I can't wait. I'm sure you'll purchase it and, in turn, give us an awesome review as always.
Like you Justin, I love the "Top Gun" movies. I saw "Maverick" in the theaters 7 or 8 times.
Supposedly, there's going to be a third movie. Personally, I'm happy with the current two movies and they (Paramount) could leave it at that.
But, if there is going to be a third "Top Gun", I honestly hope it's a period piece that tells the story of
Duke Mitchell, Maverick's father and the incredible aerial dogfight that the Navy kept off the records.
I would love to see a young version of Mike Metcalf (Viper), the character played by Tom Skeritt in the original "Top Gun" and his relationship with Pete (Maverick) Mitchell's dad.
That's super weird you've never seen those hands before. It used to be a common thing with toys back in our parents' time. But I would have thought you'd have seen it with the 3rd party releases like DiD's other stuff. And it is weird that if the zippers aren't functional that they're bigger than the proper scale. I hate the original Top Gun. Despicable/blatant jingoistic cold war recruitment ad that it was, but loved this movie. Star Wars retread or not! Thanks for the vid, can make a much more informed decision now! Cheers mate!
Yeah maybe before my time!
@@JustinsCollection That doesn't make any sense as it's before my time too (you know about the Beatles right?) and as I say DiD do it with other figs which you might have reviewed, but yep it's oldschool all right!
You need 1/6 F-14 .
Damn that would be huge!
for me it's the best Cruise sculpt out there after Poptoys Last Samurai
Nice!
OMG! I just ordered him from BlackOpsToys and after your Sylvester Stallone video, I went to Jin Toys website and I saw a great Maverick Tom Cruise headsculpt from the original movie, so ordered it! Thanks for video and review! I can't wait to get him, the Jin Toys headsculpt and put them together! I still hope HT could convince Tom to license his likeness for figures as I'm a huge fan of his! Now we need an Ethan Hunt version from the Mission Impossible series!
Yeah I will grab that sculpt as well!
I've been waiting for this review!!
Would have been extremely happy if they would have had his famous flight jacket.
P.S. You're an excellent narrator!
Thank you!
I've got one DID figure( Sam Worthington's character from Hacksaw Ridge) that was relatively easy to put together and a few DAM toys based on various movies and shows. Like others have commented military figures from DAM toys, DID, Easy and Simple ,etc. the assembly part is part of the experience of unboxing and collecting the figure. There a pain in the ass but the payoff makes some incredible looking figures with all the detail they have. I always recommend various tweezers, patience and trying to find as much reference material as possible. There is a Russian youtube channel called gsoldiers that has done quite a lot of assembly videos and there reviews offer a ton of close up shots that even though i can't understand what there saying i still watch them.
Yeah once you have some good tweezers its not as bad!
All in all I totally love the accessories!
Still not quite convinced about the head sculpt though... But personally, I think all the time it takes to put the accessories and adjust them is worth it 😁
Since one can't precisely 'play' with the figure, I would say that's a way to spend quality enjoyable time with it.
Yeah it's not perfect but the helmet certainly helps!
The articulated wired hands are a common thing with DID figures, all their figures have the wired hands and the oversized gloved hands
Ah interesting
I personally think it's worth it, I think I like the likeness better than you Justin, I usually agree with you, what really puts this one down like u also pointed out, the hands and fingernails, those gloves makes him look like someone at disneyland dressed up as Mickey or something, and the boots are so ridiculous even from a distance... but overall it's a good one 7,5/10 i'd say
Ah all good! Neither of us are wrong, likeness is subjective :P
I love that, the unofficial official Maverick from Top Gun. That is a super amount of detail with all of that equipment. I have exactly one DID figure, a British Life Guard with a real diecast sword. There's so much that goes with him I've been too intimidated set him up. Those are some big bendy hands, bigger than the old school Dragon bendy hands (that didn't have those holes in them). I remember seeing them on figures years ago and they would break at the wrist joint pretty easily.
There is a lot of setup but so worth it! Might be worth getting?
@@JustinsCollection oh definitely!
Is this the same company that makes the 1/6 scale Call of Duty figures?
I don’t think so
Damn, this look super realistic, is like seeing the real Tom Cruise
Oh glad you like it

will you make anakin ep 2 review soon? :D
Already started filming today as soon as he arrived
