I replaced the gasket on my hotpoint HDA2000G00BB, but it still leaks in the front. It appears that the gasket is not long enough, even though it fits exactly like the old one.
Thank you for sharing. I bought the gasket installed it and door seems to need to be pushed hard in to lock. Also, is there supposed to have a center gasket? This gasket seems to leave a gap like if it’s too short? Help please 🙏
The bottom part of my gasket keeps popping out. I warmed the gasket first. I tried both ways you describe, putting in the end first. Good tops, but any other suggestion? Should I warm it again with a hair dryer?
Hi Doreen. Warming it with a hair dryer could work, but if you've been warming it in your dryer, that's probably not the issue. The first thing you'll want to make sure is that you have the correct gasket (that is, if you're replacing another damaged one). If you send us your model number we can make sure for you. If you've got the correct gasket, or are experiencing a problem with the gasket that came with your dishwasher, you should check for damage on the gasket, as sometimes these gaskets can wear down and this can cause them to pop out. If the gasket is not damaged, the best advice to give you is to ensure that the gasket is properly seated in the slot on the bottom before you push it into place around the rest of the door. I hope this helps you with the repair!
@@FixDotCom My GE dishwasher model number is GSD500D03AW. Serial No. FS728668B. I ordered the gasket from ebay. The gasket part number I ordered is WD8X229. The package says genuine renewal part gask door with the WE8X229 part number on it.
You saved me $280! Thank you so much!

It did the same for me
So the gap at the bottom of the door is normal?
Does the seal touch at the bottom..? Or is there a gap?
There is a gap. There might be a short strip you need to install.
@@tomhsia4354 awesome appreciate that!
How do you know when the gasket is bad? Also, how long do they last for?
It's bad when your dishwasher leaks. The corner black 'baffles' can go bad too.
When the door leaks (might be difficult to diagnose). The seals on my dishwasher went hard and started leaking after one year.

Should there be a gap between the ends? I installed a new gasket but there's about a 1.5 inch gap.
Did you ever find out?
Nope, but it hasn't leaked in a year, so that's good.
Yeah my gasket has about 3 inch gap.. I looked at the corners and they had a shit load of gunk
Gap in mine as well. I was wondering if that’s normal
Mine hasn't leaked in 2 years now, so a hesitant yes 🤷🏼♀️
