I just went to see Icon with the only friend I have remaining. The night before I lost another friend to murder. I have lost everyone to drugs, to su*cide, to murder.. my Mom was the one I could count on to remain solid and she died in the pandemic. I wake up in tears every day, I am crying now, but I saw Ariel step out of that bus, look me in the eyes with eyes much like my own and smile, and I remembered why I never had to worry about losing myself. 👊

I'm in love with the raw emotion in this. In every song Ariel writes, she pours her heart and soul into it, and this is no exception. In every verse, you can hear her sing with such raw passion for the words she's saying. She sounds so legitimately scared in the first verse, yet it flows into the hopeful and determined words of the chorus. Or, in the last verse, you can hear her screaming the words in the background, sounding so desperate and passionate. That's what separates her from other singers: they sing screamo because that's what their genre is, or what their audience wants. They don't take risks with their style and don't tackle the same topics that IFH does. Icon, on the other hand, sings screamo because the human voice cannot contain the emotion that is being conveyed. They use whatever genre the song needs, and sing their heart out about things that matter to them. I love you, Icon!

Icon For Hire has helped me so much! I was at such a low place a couple years ago and I first heard them, I clung to Get Well and Iodine. I always thought of them as my anthem. It's okay to feel different or depressed, it doesn't mean you're any less of a person. It made it so much better how accurately they described everything like how they compare depression to a fur coat made of dead things, it helps keep me warm-its familiar. So when I heard this it reminded me of how far I've come. They had me at "hold on, stay strong, and never forget." My eyes are sweating xD. "You can't, you can't kill us!"
I love how you two use music to address modern issues not a lot of us think about. We've all kind of just accepted these problems and swept them under the rug. I love that you kick the rug away and tell us it isn't okay to ignore them. I find you very inspiring and I hope you continue to make music for a long time.

I feel that the song makes me think as long as we support each other we will make it through this, much like the lyrics talk about even though I know your meaning wasn't about that. This song has taken on another meaning for me now that the corona virus is wide spread. I feel that the song makes me think as long as we support each other we will make it through this, much like the lyrics talk about even though I know your meaning wasn't about that. It gives me strength your words during this challenging time.
I cannot stop listening to You Can't Kill Us. It rings so true inside. And this song gives me courage to do what I must in life. They are both an inspiration to many and should be admired for their courage to speak their minds through music.
