Antonio, you once recommended that we find a player we like and learn their games to have a greater insight into chess, Alexander Grischuk is my player of choice, thank you for this game analysis.
Regrets... Had Grischuk won this game, I believe it would have been the game of the decade. Do you think the queen against Svidler's "naked" king could go on and grab piece after piece ? (the position at 15:21 looks like a clear win since it's hard to protect the h4 pawn)
Do you know what I love about your channel? It doesn't matter what time I look, there is ALWAYS a new vid 😂 I really don't know how you do it man. You are a beast 👍👍👍
I really appreciate that this game is shown here, as it's indeed one of the most complex and craziest games ever in chess history and the most amazing thing about it is that it ended in a draw! I'd like to see more games in this style! ;-)
Looks like you have to take that back now, huh. Winning position with lots of threats against Fabiano. Fabiano threatening nothing. Fabiano down to minutes with 9 moves to reach time control, while Magnus has 45 minutes on the clock. And MAGNUS was the one to offer the draw. Pathetic.
@@jestice75 It is not a very beautiful way to play a championship, but I believe Carlsen offered a draw because he didn't want to risk anything. He most likely knew that he was winning if it went to rapids or blitz, which could explain why he always seemed to play for a draw in the classic games. If this was planned, then I wouldn't call it pathetic.
7:57 I am curious if white could potentially hold on to the extra piece with Bd2. Of course the point being you can capture the Knight immediately with the pawn because Bxc3 comes with check forking the king and the queen. It doesn't look like white could hold on forever, but I am just curious how long white could last with that move.
If chess is serious about trying to get bigger viewing figures at big tournaments on sites like twitch, they have to get rid of the draw offer, at least in these huge tournments. That's still a very imbalanced position in an excellent and exciting game. It should never be called so early. There's no other sport where the competitors can just stop things whenever they like. Draws should only happen by repetition, stalemate, insufficient material and 50-move rule.
Ever tried weed? I always get flagged because i start thinking too many moves in advance and after 3 minutes i decide what pawn to move first.. usually i play 5 minutes games
I am not usually commenting, but the position at 7:57 (or 7:58): if you move your dark bishop to d 2 than black cant grab your night on c 3 because than dark bishop captures on c 3 will be check and that would win blacks queen. Correct me if I missed something I am not a great player or anything but please check this out!
I was pretty sure someone in the comments also looked at this variation. Maybe it would not lead itself to that or Svidler also missed this, which is highly possible
UnseenPhantom I think black would play exd5 and after the queen moves push d4. I am not sure if this is the best continuation but it is the best i found for black
This video should be remembered as the one that revealed the mistery behind the "Sorry about that" syndrom of Agadmator! :D I had an idea what he is talking about but now there is the proof right here in this video!! PS: Mr Agadmator, there is nothing that needs fixing, just so you know. Sound is good!!!, video also ;). So you can stop your "Sorry about that" :P :D
07:59 black does not win a piece if bishop d2 is played. If the knight is captured you fork the queen with check and white should be more than good in this position.
Agadmator on 7:57 if pawn on d5 is pushed to d4 attacking the pinned knight on c3 and the dark bishop on e3 white simply plays bishop back to d2. Black can’t grab the knight on c3 with the pawn. If he does then white takes with bishop attacking the Queen while delivering check! Black has to take the bishop and give up the Queen. So you can in fact grab the third piece! Note that the white bishop is guarding the e8 square so black can’t check the King with either rooks😊
It would be really cool if you would make a note of the move in which a game diverges from the existing library of tested variations, and becomes a unique game.
Wow nice game :D It's amazing they can plan for games all the way to the mid game positions....they must doing some serious preparation work. Would be cool to know more details about how they prepare - what software tools they use - how many hours they put into preparation - how they remember it all so accurately.
ive recently discovered your channel & it was awesome to be informed that professional chess has drug testing. i never would've thought that was a thing.
Any student of chess watching this, who is not interested in draws, is a clear 2700+ I'd say. Drawing a lost position and tricking opponents is what I struggle with, whenever tactics get messed up, you HAVE to look for the draw. Draws are more instructive, in my opinion, than decisive games.
I'm probably wrong, but at 7:23, after the black king takes the pawn, it looks to me like Kxd1 is the best move. You said that the black queen could move to a5, check, but if the knight moves back to c3, the pushed pawn at d4 IS NOT A PROBLEM 7:57. All that white has to do is move e3 to d2 and the knight is protected; the pawn can't take the knight on c3 because if it does, the bishop will take the pawn on c3 and win the queen by forking the king, CHECK.
I don't know if you found the trick but after Queen takes the knight, pawn e6 takes d5 attacking queen, queen moves then pawn d5 to d4 double attacking. You get a piece with great position for black. 👍
Hi! I love your videos but this is very weird here: at min. 2.06 you suggest a possible 12... Ng4??. It happened in many games, but then 13. Bxg4 Nxg4 and it is unclear. Then of course you get 14... exd5 15. f5 d4 16. Nd5 but this position favors white like 4 to 1, am I right?
after d captures on e5 , i think bishop captures c5 attaking the rook was a good move , because light square bishope is garding e8 , rook for the white
I'm pretty sure Grischuk considered that pawn takes knight is a line. I mean who wouldn't? As you said, Grischuk had this position while praparing. Pawn captures is one of the first thing that comes to mind after looking at the position. Idk what you're smoking. He's definitely prepared for that move.
wouldnt u lose both knights for the light sqiare bishop if u played knight e to g4 at 2:06? as the black queen will capture the second knight once its captured the bishop?
At 9:00 -- I don't see a reason Svidler can't zwischenzug Bxf8+ (very favourable trade?) before Rg2 to cover his pawn on h2. Am I missing something, or would that have given him a real advantage?
@agadmator, the position where the players agreed for draw (after the move f3), white can simply play Rf4. If PxR, then NxPe2, This defends the Rook on f4 which is currently attacking the Queen. Is this a better move? Not sure
some guy already asked this before you. if Rf4, black not gonna xf4 right away but Rxc4, white will have little choice but to take black rook out Rxc4, and now Black xf4, white Kxf4, Black Qxf4+ ==> 1 Queen vs 1 Rook.
You can still play d4. If you try to then move away one of the pieces, f.e. Bc1, you run into Qb6, and you cannot save both the knight on c3 and the bishop on b5. On the other hand, if you try to save the knight on c3 after d4, then Qe7 pins the bishop and you lose the piece again

That said, i would also like to ask you, what program, software or app do you use for your videos. Im wait for an aswer and thanks for your time and gj with the vids.
In the critical position how does knight to e to g4 work since the square is guarder 2 times by the bishop amd the queen and the knight would only be protected by the other knight so isnt it losing a piece since there is a pawn in the way of balcks light square bishop? Or is there some trickery im just not seeing here since im not that good at chess
At 9.00, white to move, why not Bxf8+ capture the rook with check as an in-between move winning the exchange and then after black deals with the check you can continue the game like white does in the game to defend that pawn? I think it seems very obvious and as I am low rated (1650 atm) I can't imagine that these pros missed it, but rather that there is a reason not to do it? But I can't see it. Anyone got a reason not to do it? Otherwise great game, and Agadmator, great video as always :)
