- This is a valuable lesson I learned from Jazz guitarist Joe Diorio, 30 years ago. It's about listening. Whether you're into Jazz, Blues, Country, Rock, or any other style - it pays to pay attention.

As I’m studying guitar (in my 50’s) I enjoy listening and learning. And then repeat the pieces. Listening to different aspects of the song.
I wholeheartedly agree with Adam here! Good video! Thanks, brother! ✌🏻
Hi Adam, I really appreciate these uploads. Question: Due to time constraints practicing my technique (as a hobbyist on the sofa stage), I’ve spent a number of years developing my relative pitch, analysing tunes in the daily commute, or singing ditties, then checking them when I have access to an instrument. I find this immensely rewarding. However, there seems to be a blockage whereby I am unable to improvise in real time.
Do you have any suggestions for fostering a more immediate connection between audiation and the fingers?
Rest assured I don’t expect a written answer, but it may make an interesting upload to help people like me make the leap from transcription to non-virtuosic conversational interactions when jamming. Thank you for the stellar content, good sir.
Very interesting question! Hmmm ... I don't have a quick/easy answer. I'll give it some thought.
@@AdamLevyGuitarTipsSorry for dropping such a nebulous question. Thank you for the stellar content on your channel.

wise old owl thanks so much
You are welcome, kind feral cat.
I think Pebber Brown while he was around referred to Joe a lot😊
Hi Adam, I have a question about something you mentioned in an old video. You once mentioned in office hours to try playing in each of the 12 keys for five minutes for a 60 minute practice. I was hoping you might show what that actually means--what you actually do in that exercise. I find I remember keys and triads etc. when I have exercises that force me to find them on the neck rather than wrote memorization. Am trying to figure out an exercise that might have me play a harmonized major scale in every key. Thanks! Maggie
Good question, Maggie. Would you want to see the whole 60-minute session, or just the first few keys to get started?
@@AdamLevyGuitarTips hi Adam, just the first few keys to get started. Or some abridged version. That would be great!
Dood i farted so loud and repeatedly whilst watching this
Hahahah!!!
