honestly, all of the usually excrutiating story bosses are usually walks in the park when you find them in the MD, because:
1. you start at max sanity. one of the hardest parts is usually getting your SP up from 0 when you don't have that good of a chance at winning clashes
2. abhorrent amount of EGO gifts. self explanatory
3. max level. better level means better clashes.
Tbh she was relatively easy. "Relatively" becausr I was having flashback from how peak her theme is.

Honestly I hyped up when I saw dongbaek, I like her character so much I got excited when I listened to that theme again, needless to say I cooked her with the Liu gang.

Dongbaek, on the other hand, will wipe your team in two turns if you can't read.
You guys have to pay attention to the Scenery.
Her name, Dongbaek is named after korean short story, The Camellias(동백꽃, dongbaekkkot), by Gim Yujeong(he was also a member of The Circle of Nine, like Dongrang, Gubo, Yi Sang).
The actual camellia flower is red, and the yellow camellia flower in the book is the dialect of Linda obtusiloba.
Imagine the scenery of a rural village in Korea in the past.
A small stream flows and yellow flower trees are in full bloom on every gray rock. The spring sunshine comes down from the sky and the mountains are clolorful in the distance.
Everywhere I go, yellow flowers grow abundantly and have a fragrant scent.

As you said, the real camellia appears at the end. Dongbaek died hoping for a pungent scent, and the real camellia has no scent.

Having one Sinner save the others from being trapped in the flowers by winning a duel was amazing. Instantly took me back to the first time I saw Snow Queen in Lobotomy Corporation and learned about its gimmick. Definitely plays off of the story too on how Spring blooms after she was defeated in the duel. Even further if Yi Sang wins everyone gets buffed like the Snow Queen duel too. Man ProjectMoon is just too good
Playing Base Yi Sang and just hitting her with two EGO's during the duel is the most satisfiying thing in the game. I do find it odd that she isn't the final boss for the chapter as a whole, but we will see next week.
@@plinfan6541 other chapter bosses represented the sources of the sinners torment. The Apple for Gregor, memories of the massacre for Rodion, and Kromer for Sinclair. Dongbaek is someone who shared Yi Sang’s grief, and isn’t a source of his torment, so isn’t the final boss. I suspect that will be Dongrang somehow.

What I absolutely love about this fight is not just the mechanics it has, like the "you can have 7 sinners" or the whole entrapment thing or the duel, no, it's that Yi Sang is actually really good for this fight since she has a lot of high base power, but low coin power moves, which is exactly what Yi Sang has as blade Lineage or 7 section. Hell, i've seen people do it with his base ID, which makes me love this fight even more!

The chapter clearly will lead to Yi Sang start breaking out his depression and seek to use Technology for true good. Not rejecting it but also not abusing it, like K-Corp is doing.

Where does she say this in the chapter? In the dungeon?
There is something deeply upsetting about the background noises of this theme... People laughing, and having fun with each other, that is... something truly, extremely tragic.
Given how the arena transforms to better suit Dongbaek's manifested EGO, I imagine it sort of represents her innermost desire to return to the simpler joyous times of pure discovery she experienced at the Nine - or, at least, create the environment for others to experience it by demolishing a huge portion of technological progress.
While Yi Sang is wandering aimlessly in the present, and Dongrang is walking mercilessly towards the future... Dongbaek is hopelessly yearning for the past.
This song really does fit the theme of Reminiscence more than any other Chapter 4 song. That feeling of nostalgia mixed with a twinge of sadness and hope is beautiful.

The moment the music started playing, the beautiful ambience appeared and all of that, it was insanely beautiful.
The song itself is so... grandiose.
In another more personal note, I loved using LCB Yi Sang in this. He's pretty weak, and was the least damaging character in this fight, HOWEVER
the moment Dongbaek starts a duel against Yi Sang, Seeing how anything I try is Hopeless, then needing to use Yi Sang's EGO twice just to probably be able to win the clash. Damn it was a powerful moment. Even if he just did literally 1 damage each time, it was so freaking epic. God I'm loving this chapter (lore/boss-wise, the filler levels are awful)
on another note, on a 2nd run through it, using BL Yi Sang is also weirdly thematic since its like a japanese duel in a blossoming forest, clashing against one another.
I can't quite describe it, but there's a mental image that formed in my head during it that is both cinematic, thematic and somber.

This is the most fun fight I've ever had since Spiced Bongy once I realized its gimmick.
And I know that I should have brought Yi Sang for lore accuracy...
But seeing Don Quixote finally winning a duel after getting beaten down in the previous Cantos was cathartic... Ideal, even.

I hated this boss took me so long to defeat each time my whole party got bloomed and caused instant loss due to a single clash loss not to mention the sanity drain
in this fight either everything goes right or everything goes wrong
the dongrang fight was actually pretty fun even though it had the same gimmick maybe its that you didnt have your own sinners fighting you after the stagger was over and how fun it was to both manage fighting the farmwatch himself and the trees of ambition
I used cinq don and pequod yi sang for this fight. It was really fun once I figured out how she works

This is one of the most powerful battle themes produced for the game yet. I'm genuinely impressed in Studio EIM's ability to produce even more potent music with each Canto release.

My jaw just dropped when the transition hit. Doing this with the Base sinners was delightful. Dueling her with Yi Sang's EGO's was peak Kino.

@@18_moch.januarakbar17 Well, that one will have a Mili song attached. Though, I am unsure how a slimy asshole like Dongrang could be worthy for the Mili treatment. Unless the third part is Yi Sang getting swallowed up in his depression and the final fight is a sort of Core Supression for him.

god the visuals for this fight really show just how much PM's art and presentation has improved over years. This moment is going to live rent free in my head for awhile.
I find it interesting how similar the fan looks to Grave of Cherry Blossoms Fan. The two EGO also have a somewhat similar theme of death and starting over.
Many E.G.O and Distortions have links to Abnormalities, which is unsurprising considering the later are manifestation of collective emotions. For exemple, Roland note that Angela using Da Capo (and thus Silent Orchestra) is extremely similar to the Pianist.

Abnormalities represent the collective, while a Distortion/EGO born out of those same feelings Will be influenced by other aspects of those that give birth to them
Silent Orchestra is a director because the collective doesnt favor any instrument over others, while the Pianist only cared about Pianos
Same thing about Grave of Cherry Blossoms, Dongbaek has a personal connection to spicebushes so her EGO has them rather than cherry blossoms

This fight felt depressing from start to finish, as in, a good way. It was intensely sad from start to finish.
Also what's this about being able to manually choose who dongbaek gets to duel with ?
It depends on who clashes with the actual attack instead of hitting her unopposed. As long as your character is faster than her you can redirect her attack to clash with the person you want her to duel by selecting their attack last.
If I had to give an example, assuming her speed is 3 and you're using three characters (ex. Heathcliff, yi sang, don) who have 4, 4, 3 speed respectively. Heathcliff will automatically clash with her attack if you select his skill last and Don's attack will be unopposed because it's the same speed as dobgbaek, but if you want yi sang to duel with dongbaek you'll have to either reselect his skill or use it after selecting Heathcliff's skill to redirect the clash.

I had a brainrot moment in her fight and didn't acknowledge her duel status effects, so I had sent my R heathcliff who had no ammo to the duel, it was quite funny
she takes 1 damage from attacks during the duel anyway and heath keeps his clash value even without ammo so that was a good move

There is something very satisfying about this song, and the way the start of it has what seem like people lashing out at each other in the background before being drowned out by the violins and joyous laughter< the way this song comes in during the fight too, going from K Corp's earpiercing, Blaring alarm, to this downright MAJESTIC theme; as Dongbaek breathes in and lets her EGO Flourish, taking the world around them over with the beautiful look of her golden flowers.
Anyone who didn’t take the duel with Yi Sang missed out by a country mile. At least they got the most of this amazing moment but still not all.

I entered the duel with BL Yi Sang, and it was thematically beautiful. I used Crow's Eye View first, then hit her with my Skill 3, absolutely phenomenal.
I used Section 6 Yi sang it was great, this ID added to the duel great s3 animation :v (imo mostly only this ID is rly usable for him xD❤)
In next run I cooked the duel with Ryo Chef xD

I just beat this fight earlier this day and I don't think there could have been a better song to fit this fight, absolutely incredible work

Dongbaek fights for the Technology Liberation Army, which strives to turn the world back into a place where humanity wasn't afflicted by the evils of overreliance in technology.
However, i feel as if Dongbaek herself isnt really aiming for a world without technology, but rather a return to the happier moments of her life, where she was able to work with Yi Sang and the other members of the league of nine.
i think that the nostalgia that emanates from this song represents these two aspects of Dongbaek's character.

@@draconicworkshop5679 We actually come close to that point, as Dongbaek can use many AoE attacks in a turn, while you use your own AoE in return, I missed having half of the screen covered in arrows

my prediction about this, if one were to follow the Divine Comedy's theming:
Inferno: we reveal the Sinners' past and, well, sins, figuring out just how much Not Okay they are; we also may or may not see various others who've so wholly succumbed to their flaws that they're beyond saving (for example, Kromer)
Purgatorio: we have the Sinners slowly, gradually, excruciatingly work through their issues, be it directly or in a roundabout way
Paradiso: Sinner Realisation, where they finally have it figured out and triumph

The fact you can hear people, most likely her with yi sang and the others laughing like good friends in the background is deep.
I think I graced the fight too fast but holy hell it was a beautiful masterpiece definitely one of my favorites, and such a nice throwback to LoR where your character can get trapped

This battle is probably the most exciting and sad event in the last 7 years... Even just listening to this music makes me uneasy. This is especially felt at the moment of 1:50... The name of her attack is "a light spring breeze".. All of this is enough to make me unable to stop crying..

This battle was a work of art. Beautiful.
Finally beaten her and can continue the effing story now. It was frustrating losing bc of the random chances (like how tf did she rolls all heads with 0 sanity while my sinners who has more than 0 didn't) but after understanding her battle more it actually turns into a fun experience.
Also can never forget the feeling where she changed the scenery, like I was frozen solid for 5 minutes or more just to admire the scenery, mood and the music. It really captures the feelings of reminisce of the past and the beauty of it all that once past.
I was so worried about winning clashes and ensuring the best that no one got enough stacks so my sinners doesn’t get trapped after my first 5 attempts went pretty badly or got really unlucky that i was not paying attention that duel phase was coming and luckily enough healthcliff ended up saving my ass cuz i had more then enough for two ego to granteed i get through the duel phase
I've just been getting into the game starting in very late December, and just beat this fight today. This may be one of my favorite moments in the entire game so far.

@@sulliedhalcyon This. Dongrang who denies all was just more interesting to fight than Farmwatch. I hope they introduce more complex gimmicks in the future because the whole seeds and overheal thing was pretty much inconsequential to the fight.
