My 17 year old daughter and I went to the last Durham Bulls home game of the season yesterday. The last time we went to a Bulls game was in 2010. We quickly stopped by the old ballpark, which was hosting a little league type game, and the Manning House, Annie's house in the movie. I showed her several (non adult themed) clips of Bull Durham and stumbled upon this interview. I listened to the first 3 chapters of The Church Of Baseball. It is mesmerizing in it's descriptions of experiences and the author's breadth of knowledge of literature and film is impressive. Looking forward to the next chapters.

Great guest Rich! What makes you so different from everyone else is the quality of the conversation - about, around, and the people - within sports and sports business.

Great segment. I love the movie and really enjoy sports stories like this one. Right after I watched, I went to Amazon and ordered the book. Loved the bit about "What are they doing now."

I saw Ron play for the 1971 Red Wings. Great team. Led by Grich and Baylor. Many other longtime big leaguers. One of the best minor league teams of all time. You could look it up.

They also have to leave the bullpen one at a time. At least with the dugout everyone can usually safely get over that little fence all at once
