- In this video I secure a UPVC door which cannot be locked using the key/euro cylinder. This is useful if the door cannot be locked due to a faulty Euro cylinder, or if a key for the property is lost. You can secure the door using the method used in this video, until a replacement euro cylinder can be fitted.
Here are more videos that should help, if you are having problems with a Euro cylinder.

This is great advice.
The panel in the middle can be kicked in really easily though.
👍
Fire safety: hang cutters off the ties just in case
And a cordless screwdriver and bit to be able to move the wood if tight to the ceiling..
I don't have a back door so lucky I don't need to employ this method just yet..
An excellent simple, low cost solution. Having two daughters who were always losing keys, I always had a couple of spare lock barrels which I could easily change round if anyone stole a key and knew where they lived
Good to have you posting regularly again.
Neat idea thanks.. 👍
Hi, great idea mate, and easy to do, once again your chanel gets us out of trouble. Many thanks, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
Good tip, alternative option unscrew handle, (after latching door closed) remove the square through bolt
Great point!
Just fit a Brisant 2* security handle that incorporates a latch on the inside handle that locks the handle and you do not even need to use the lock when at home. Also safe in a fire situation when needing to get out fast.
👍
Great idea, one to be memorised for possible future use.
Brilliant 👍
Good idea that👍👍. Nice to see you up and about again. Hope the ticker is ok👍👍
Thanks, I’m good thanks.
Ticker is holding up fine 👍
I'd changed , that whole
Door mechanism, Chaz .
Good Tip though. 💪🍫✅
Thanks 👍
This was very good, Thank You.
Glad it was helpful!
candle lighter through the letterbox would make very short work on cable ties and a pair of tin snips would quite easily cut ties and jubilee clips for sure ,diffrent story if there was a letterbox cage inside ?
simple and effective
Good to know
Thanks for the comment 👍
Ingenious 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Is there anything you can add to a uPVC door to lock from the outside, we had one pried open even when it has 4 locking points?
Id rather fit 2 Lockable Sash locks, pleasing. To eye and can be left to use after new Euro Cyl fitted
👍
Great idea !!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hiii
Can i fit this night latch lock in the upvc frame whose thickness is 70 mm ??
That's some redneck engineering right there, I tell you what 😁
😂
Nice. 👍
Thanks 👍
Fix up upvc window
The letterbox is a weak point. It's possible to open the door with a piece of wire. Cover it with a cage or block it and have a box outside.
Hi just watched one off your video you did 5 years ago about changing a light switch. If I change one of my light switch to a one USB only outlet will it work or is it a bad idea 👎
Do you have a link to what you intend to install ?, I'll then take a look at it 😉
I used to do this to stop the kids walking into the bedroom for obvious reasons. 😜
😂
Or wedge a chair under the handle
👍👍👍
👍
😎
Unbelievable lot of overkill
Overkill?
I can’t help but think that removing the spindle would be easier.
