The model Y comes from Tesla Berlin, they ship them on trains to Sweden, German union members cannot hold a sympathy strike for another union. Most of the mechanics are still working there are only 7 mechanics out of 130 on strike. Tesla found a work around for the number plates issue. Bodywork repairs on Tesla used to be done at small independent garages. Mechanics said they could not repair Tesla due to IF Metall instructions. Tesla started to build their own inhouse bodywork shop so the Union changed their mind.
Sounds like the UK in the seventies where unions had far too much power. It didn't end well for the UK car manufacturing industry which was largely decimated.
Yeah, capitalists moved the money to other countries because it's better to bring masses of people, even a whole country, to their knees to support a very few. It's the union's fault, right?
Corrupt unions like IG Metall and UAW, along with the fossil fuel industry, are among the biggest threats to delaying Tesla's company mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy generation and consumption.
Wouldn't it ironic if Tesla's unionized competitors all went broke and their workers went to work for Tesla? These unions are only self-interested, the interests of the workers have nothing to do with it.
Tesla have this right, pay your staff well and have good working conditions. And people will be happy to work for you. Its almost like you dont need a Union!

I am from Sweden. IF Metal is an old socialist union. The only reason for this strike is so they can get more money from new members 🤑🤑🤑. The Tesla employees already had good salaries and conditions.
I'm a supporter of Unions in general, but sometimes they have too much power. They need to stick to their knitting and try to improve conditions of their members, not attack companies that treat their workers fairly.
If Tesla continues to treat its staff well - including sacking them with very generous compensation packages - there is no reason to join a union. But Tesla cannot rest on its laurels - it must monitor things.
@johnfrancis4401 if tesla has to do all that work to pamper its staff than focus on selling cars, Elon would rather shut shop and move everything to China
This sounds like the unions have too much power. To be able to not only disrupt but prevent movement of goods is unacceptable. I could see a legal case by Tesla to sue the union for loss of income.
I don't understand, Tesla doesn't even make cars in Sweden, why are the unions causing Swedes all this grief and potential losses. Are they doing the same to all the other car companies that import cars into Sweden?? If these unions were really serious about protecting their members, they should concentrate on the aggressive moves Chinese companies like BYD are making. I don't condone the legacy car makes poor decision making that has led many of them to miss the boat on the EV market but I'm also not comfortable with companies like BYD that appear to be seizing this opportunity to go for the jugler and end the big brands whilst the opportunity is there for the taking. Tesla has played a fair game, they saw the EV opportunity back in 2003 and and led the way. It's not easy for a new car company to start up in the West and they had some difficult times early on but they deserve the success they made for themselves. I've read most Tesla employee's are more than happy with their salary and benefits packages and they're not bothered about being unionised.
I think job losses in Germany will be greater and quicker. I describe Germany as being like the UK in 1965 - still thinking it was in a good place - by 1974 we lived in a world of powerccuts and mass unemployment. The collapse when it comes is much quicker than people realise and you then see panicked government intervention such as nartionalization as a measn of coping.
It's misdirected anger, workers should be mad at Volvo leaders who didn't invest in their EV future. They should be mad at their government ,for not seeing this coming, and at Volvo's board of directors. Jeannine

It was inevitable that the dinosaurs would fight against their inevitable extinction. At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the workers used to throw their wooden shoes (sabots) in the machines to fight against the disappearance of their former jobs... and they failed.
Strange, Taylors book "scientific management" from 1910 specifically states that pressure from managers and "crew chiefs" on the assembly line led to self sabotage and diminishing returns and productivity. But I bet ideology is more important that actual history.
I don't know about Sweden, but generally, multinationals have a pretty poor record when it comes to labor law, so let's not hyperventilate too much about IF Metal.
Looks like another situation where the union is out of touch with the reality of current automotive buyer. Union staff is probably spewing non truths to the people they represent and still increasing their own status with union money.
Unions are what has made Europe - and the US - great for all workers. I wouldn't slam any union, even if I don't know the specifics of this situation. There is so much good unions have done and do to this day. I would like to know more how here in Finland we got huge Tesla service centres. Or how in Finland all people get good pay. It's not about some silly conflicts.
You have no idea what you are talking about. In the same way, I can demonstrate that Unions destroyed Europe, the reason why after the fall of communism in East Europe, Western Europe is going ONLY down! Take any Western European country from 1990 and compare it with the situation today, please! And say the Unions have no responsibility for what is happening...
@@peterfireflylund Of course. Capitalism is key. But unions have being part of capitalism since the industrial revolution. IG & UAW are corrupt, money grabbing, mafia-style organizations. We all pay for their self centered ‘me first’ attitudes. If they really added any value to life, then why must you pay them dues to even hold a job? Why can’t a non-Union worker choose work at a ‘Union’ job site without being beaten?
Volvo is not Swedish any more. It's Chinese owned (Geely). Polestar is also owned by Geely. Koenigsegg is the only one that is Swedish based and owned. Might as well get a Tesla.
I halted the video to look at the sales number chart and noticed Volvo (and I'll include their luxury brand Polestar) are below Tesla in sales. Could that be because Volvo is now a Chinese brand (owned by Geely) and s Swedes might have some negative opinions of China due to issues with Baltic Sea communications cables? VW EV sales slipping might be caused by the reports of the company's shaky financial situation and halting of some of their EVs (the ID4). I've never heard of the Skoda Enytaq, is that a re-badged VW?
So, Tesla model Y is a slightly better electric car, popular and with more availability in Sweden. At the same time, Sweden has unions that want the working person to thrive. Of course, Elon's against the latter.
From 38% to 34% is not really a drop just means each year less people will buy it because theve got one allready as probably cant expect first time car buyers to afford tesla .new drivers i mean by that

The service level has dropped significantly since the strike began. Before the strike, I could get a service appointment within 2 weeks with mobile service, but the last time I needed service, it took 5 months(!) of no-shows and canceled appointments, and I had to drive 500 km to get my problem fixed. And you’re wrong about one thing: I'm pretty certain that a majority of Swedes support the Tesla workers and the Union. We have a long tradition of unions and companies working together to benefit both sides, Tesla is anti-union and I’m sure it’s hurting their sales. My company is looking at alternatives like Volvo and Zeekr for our next EVs.
We've seen your "long tradition of unions and companies working together". There is also a worldwide tradition of unions destroying companies. There are massive strikes at VW, which will hasten its filing for bankruptcy. Sweden's "sympathy strikes" look like embarrassing terrorist acts to people in the USA.
