I've took a real interest in shane MacGowan and the pogues and his life and just everything and he has an amazing wife who has stuck by him through thick and thin for 34 years and loved him no matter what and shane is himself and amazing songwriter and he is genuine!
Pat Kenny nearly spits the title "20th century Paddy" out on the floor. He doesn't represent the Irish people. Shane however is an artist. He finds the beauty in the suffering poverty of the Paddy and elevates him to nobility. I have loved his gentle heart for nearly 40 years.

This is my first time seeing this man. I came across some music videos of the Pogues today accidentally and then somehow I ended up watching this video. At first, I was a little shocked at his condition and was going to turn it off, but then I just couldn't look away. He is an intense man, very genuine...and all the pain that's evident can't mask the person inside; he seems like a nice man.
The fact that Shane dosnt hide his decline does show a very heroic quality about him. Alot of people may be going through the same thing who feel they are too far gone, and can relate to this man. I wish him well. Dont feel sad for him. He is living a kick ass life.

This is heart-wrenching and beyond words to describe how painful to watch, to see another human being suffering so. This poor man suffering, oblivious to the top that drugs have taken on his poor long suffering body. He has such a good heart, mind, talent. The monster drug wants to destroy all, has taken so much from him. Where were all his friends when he needed help, why did everyone give up on this man. People in drug addiction cannot get off on their wn, they simply cannot most of the time. They need a team of caring, involve individuals helping them every step of the way. This poor man got none of that. My heart goes out to him. Poor man.

I remember thinking at the time of broadcast that Kenny was quite condescending to Shane in this interview. Watching it all these years later, I think it even more so. Pat is looking down his nose at Shane and poking insults at him throughout the broadcast. Disgusting. No respect for Shane, who outweighs Kenny a thousand times over in terms of talent!
