I’ve been a member of my local library since I was 4 (I’m now 64). I remember going with my mum as a small child and not being aloud to speak. There was forever someone saying shhhh in the background. Now it is a community hub. Thursday is Mother and toddlers ( I am often sitting in my car on the way home singing ‘The wheels on the bus’ or some other nursery rhyme. My library is my second home. I don’t know what I would do if we lost it.
I live in Denmark and everything is free: borrowing, reserving books, films, streaming, games (board games and computer games). They also have other things you can use on the premises like Sewing machines, 3D printing ect. They also have talks about different topics, play groups, reading clubs for all ages, help the elderly with computer problems and help people with dyslexia. I love my library❤ and my librarians😊
That’s fabulous to know, would love to visit Denmark. I live in South Wales U.K. and everything is free here too in our public libraries, well we do have to pay for printing and fines if we go overdue, but that’s all. No fee for reservations
I’ve always been a member of a library….every time I’ve moved to a new town, that’s one of the first things I’ve done is go get a library card. I use the library exclusively as I am not a book buyer. My library is free for everything….whether that’s putting reservations on, to programs, to events, to borrowing from other libraries within my state. I’d be lost without my libraries 💝
Hello. I faithfully watch all your videos and am far too invested in your life. Can I just say I am so jealous about how fast your hair seems to grow!!! It always looks fab. The red really suits you.
I have a constant stream of reservations coming in from the library. I appreciate my library so much as I have a limited budget for book buying so being able to get brand new releases from the library is fantastic for me. Yesterday I picked up ‘Shy Creatures’ by Clare Chambers, ‘Maisie Dobbs’ by Jacqueline Winspear, ‘The Lodger’ by Helen Scarlett to name a few. It’s my Saturday morning ritual to pop in to town to go to the library, I look forward to it every week. Thanks Lauren x
I belong to Kent and Medway libraries. At the moment I have Betty by Tiffany McDaniel, The Cabin by Will Dean. Abandon by Blake Crouch, Those people by Louise Candlish and Why did you stay by Rebecca Humphries. Absolutely love my libraries and Rochester has a great Community Centre with lovely staff too 🌻
Thanks for letting me know "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden is now available. I was able to reserve the book with my library, however, it may be a long wait. Total copies 180, I am on the waiting list #121! I have read all of Freida McFadden's books, and she never disappoints. I hope you will enjoy reading it.
Hi Lauren I too love watching Library Book Hauls - I love going to the Library. I hope that you enjoy your Library Books as you read them. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🔰📚📖❤️
I've been with my current library almost 20 years and joined the "friends of" program to support it. I also have a habit of placing holds on books after watching book videos but I don't read them nearly fast enough. Thankfully Libby helps with that issue.
Hi Lauren, my latest library haul included a recently published medical memoir called 'Small by Small' by Dr Ike Anya. It's about his day-to-day experiences of being a young medical student and then a junior doctor in Nigeria. The author takes you through his journey of becoming a doctor in such an engaging writing style that I couldn't put the book down. He writes about his emotions of having to perform procedures for the first time, the living conditions of a student, the stress of exams, the workload of a junior doctor, and even some interesting insights into Nigerian politics and history. I absolutely loved it and knowing that you work in the NHS and liked Adam Kay's books, I think you would enjoy it too 📚😁
I love watching library hauls. I mostly use the library for their ebooks and audiobooks. Getting a copy of a popular book takes time because of the number of copies available. I do not have to pay to reserve a book. Starting today I will be buddy reading “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” with my friend who lives in another state. 🇺🇸📕📚
Great haul Lauren. I am going to the library to pick up Private Rites and The Husband. I love my library. Don’t have to pay for reservations. Cornwall Library’s are the best.
I am a member of 3 libraries , the county I work at, the county i live in and the county in between . I currently have 20 books checked out among the different libraries. 2 of the libraries don't charge late fees. I can renew 1-2 times depending on which library then check it back out again if nobody waiting. I am definitely going to look for The Silence in Between. That sounds so good!
