  • In this video I’ve shown three different methods to make alcoves.
    1. Using internal walls. This method is the quickest but lacks tile trim details.
    2. Using internal walls to form the shape behind the tiles boards. The tile boards can then face the front include adding the trims.
    3. Sketch up pre-made alcove. Great to make these do you can reuse them with different types of lights - spots, linear (shining up and down).
If you want anything elaborating in the video further, then please don’t hesitate to ask.
I hope this is found to be useful. Bye for now.

Thanks for this. I will save a few different sizes as the process is lengthy. I would love to see the same niche function as Winner. You just add a niche, adjust the size (and trim size), and change the inside colour, all within about 30 seconds.

Hi Richie. Great video as usual. A couple of questions if you don’t mind. How do you get the Giorgio shower trays into the design? I’m not sure there’s a catalog for that? Is it done in sketch up and if so do you have any tutorials on how to use sketch up? Also do you have any links to textures ie floor tiles and views. I’ve been using my Articad for around 20 years and find the bathrooms limited. Thanks

      Sorry I had missed this.
I made the models in Sketchup; they don’t have them for download. If you can download the MyLife catalogue, this will give you a lot more choice. Do you have access to the portal?

What about using sketch up and importing into a design.
    Importing colours and textures etc...

      Thanks for your question.
The third method, which I use is importing the model only. My models are generally brightly coloured so that I may identify the faces easily. As I’ve already made the textures or will make them for the ArtiCAD library, I’d then apply these directly within ArtiCAD. The model imported via my favourites bar has the Grespania Statuario as standard, but I changed it to the Vitra City Marble for the purpose of this design and inevitable quotation.
When base units is selected, in the keyboard type zone ‘sketchup’ and hit return. Selecting the model and clicking ok. As long as rotated correctly on sketch up you then type the height from floor.
If you need me to do this method on its own quick video, I’m happy to demo it. 👍👍
