Really enjoyed this. We lost my wife's beloved Shitzu last year. I made her casket. My wife and our kids painted it. I think making while grieving is a very healing process. Thanks for sharing.
alaskankare Thank you very much. Not a single passes without me having a thought for my best friend 😊 It's hard to lose them but it would have been even harder to live without them.
Leaping Lemur Craftworks Thank you Scott. Saying that you learn from my video makes the time and effort totally worth it. Knowledge is meant to be shared and spread 😊
Olivier Chambon Thanks a lot Olivier. Leather is so fun to work with. If you have some questions about Leatherworking, just ask. I will be happy to help.
Thanks for the great tutorial! The final product looks really lovely. Would you mind listing all the tools and materials in the description? Or do you know of a good starter kit?
Thank you. I'm working on a leather 101 video, in which I will talk about the basic tools and techniques. It should come up soon. Stay tuned :) And don't buy a kit. They are usually to expensive for what's in it.
Nice Memorial piece. Could you share what you are doing there at 3:54- are you just carefully wiping off the (?acrylic) paint with a cloth then a brush? I have been trying to do lettering in a similar way but it keeps smudging. Many thanks!
Thank you very much. At 3:54, I'm putting a second coat of leather varnish. One before doing the lettering, and one after to fix the color and protect it from dust and dirt. I hope it helps. Thanks a lot for watching.
I wish I could have made one for my beloved dog who passed away in 2014 Dec after a long bout of illness . He was my best friend ,a big Standard Poodle .

Thanks for watching !
What kind of leather you are using? What leather thickness? And what material you are using for dying? :)
Vegetable tanned leather, 6oz, black leather dye :)
what is that span you're using under the collar? Like when you are using the tools to poke through.
Beautiful collar by the way!
Dylan's DIY Workshop Thanks Dylan. It's two little pieces of leather to make the transition between the buckle and the D ring smoother.
Could you tell us the couple of oils/varnishes you put on during the video? Thank you.
I used black leather dye for the collar, acrylic paint for the lettering, leather neatsfood oil and leather varnish. Very simple. Thanks for watching.
great video, could you please tell me the type of leather you used and the thickness it was :-)
Thank you. I used 2.4mm vegetebale tanned leather. :)
Besides the dye, what are you coating the collar with and in what order? What purpose does every coat have?
Leather oil/conditionner, and leather varnish, in that order. Oil unify the dye and hydrate the leather, varnish protects it.
awesome job Gerald. what did the wording say that you had stamped into that collar?
Opa's Workshop Thank you Opa.It says "Not impressed" 😊
Magnifique réalisation.
En quoi est le support sur lequel tu emboutis le cuir ?
Bernard CONTE Merci. C'est en plastique relativement dur, généralement utilisé pour le martelage.
Ok, merci pour la réponse rapide :)
Bernard CONTE Avec plaisir.

I do yes. What kind of collar do you want, and what's your budget ?
@@RedSmithWorkshop what features do you put on your collars or sorry have available for your collars say like buckle locks or lettering etc etc
Arent you suppose to paint before you dye leather?
No, or your paint will get dirty because of the dye

la forge montagnarde Aucune question n'est stupide 😊 Non aucun risque. De plus aucun de ces produits n'est dangereux.
