  • DAILYVLOG #233: Today I review my 2017 goals and set resolutions for 2018.
Mare is a Canadian UA-camr sharing her journey in daily vlogs. Mare has a son, Thomas, who is deaf and on the Autism Spectrum. In June of 2017 Mare's husband Jeremy committed suicide after battling depression and anxiety for years. They shared their story for a couple years on this UA-cam channel.
Mental health, self care, women's health, special needs and being true to yourself are VERY important to Mare. She strives to include helpful content every day as she uploads six days a week.
Mare created the Mareathoner community, a place where she makes sure everyone feels less alone.
Mare left a decade-long career in radio to start her own business in 2016, Redhead Mare Media. She lives in BC with Thomas.

Another good option for tracking your books is either Goodreads or 50bookpledge. I have been using 50bookpledge for the last 6 years and Goodreads for 2. It's great to see what books you have read and to push yourself to read more. 2017 was a record year for me 101 books!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I got a lot out of this video. Im inspired to try to assess the past year and think about my intentions for the upcoming year. I’m not sure I’ll pull out poster paper but I will write some things down for sure. I have a hard time coming up with self care goals. My therapist tells me I need to find a self care routine to signal the end of the day and shut down the stress. I draw a complete blank. Thanks again.

+Sue Flast thanks Sue. As for the evening routine, could you signal by washing your face or having a shower to literally wash the day off? Then a warm drink, meditate, stretch, journal or read? Something to really slow down? I’m trying to get better about having less screen time or at least mindless screen time like an easy show. Keep me posted oxox

Redhead Mare thanks for the response. You and my therapist are on the same wavelength. She suggested a facial routine, a long one with lots of attention. Her feeling is that the end of day self care has to be something that you cannot do somewhere else. So reading for example is something she would not suggest because you can do that anywhere. Meditation, journaling are both things that I probably should do. I think I’ll go make a cup of sleepy time tea. I take care of my elderly parents and when they go to bed, my brain says “phew it’s me time now”. The problem is I don’t use the time for self care. I use it to snack which feels comforting momentarily but results in turns basically a self sabotage. Thanks for listening.

You did SO AMAZING when many would have crawled into bed and not moved, myself included. My personal goals are to keep going on my vegan (mostly raw) journey; i transitioned in the last few months from vegetarian to vegan so def want to continue with that. I meditated for 3 mins for the first time this morning, so that as well as reading/listening to podcasts and audiobooks. Also, getting up early and going to bed early are good ones too. I have kept up Jeremy's advice to KEEP BUSY and it was life changing for me in 2017. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have been SO inspired by you this past year, cant wait to see what 2018 brings!!

Have you tried Goodreads? You can set goals and track your progress. It also has tons of book reviews and recommendations based on your profile. :)

I use goodreads too! It's great. I read 48 books last year, I set my goal this year at 75 😬 I'm hoping it will help me help myself get away from UA-cam when I'm just watching recommended videos so I don't have to find something else to do.

It looks like you accomplished a whole lot last year. Well done! I think I would encourage you to try not take responsibility for unfinished relationship/love goals because those were circumstances beyond your control. Try going back to the idea the everything unfolds the way it’s meant to and every goal you achieved in your marriage was an incredible accomplishment. Jer would be so proud of how much you and Thomas have grown this year❤️

I'm only 5:25 in but have a question.
Do you find it hard to have parts of your life saved in video format?
    More so On UA-cam!
I'm thinking about starting a vlog (not posting anything yet) but I'm terrified lol both for good and bad. I'm sure it all comes with it. I want to start because of my two kids. But I'm just not sure.
So I guess I'm asking if you regreat anything about vlogging?
    And any...
    Pro's? Cons?
I can hear you say "you do you" understandable.. But any advice would help 💕

+Sunshinevalley121 no regrets. I am so thankful to have the last six years documented with Jeremy, especially for Thomas’ sake. Go for it!

have you thought about teaching Thomas sign language? show him signs for hungry, tired, etc and feelings like sad, mad, happy and so on. doesn't have to be every single sign, but ones you think he would use a daily basis.
