My husband went to school where my mom lives..his 5th grade classroom is now my moms apartment... An awesome coincidence

I just love that this young man was determined to save the 1929 Willisborough School then have it converted into a Assisted Living Building. It is beautiful! Seniors needing a little helping hand with daily living also provides 30 plus jobs for local residents. A win, win idea. Job well done and mission accomplished. Congratulations Eli Schwartzberg. (Y)

I’m so great full that Eli kept to his vision and made this project a reality. My 94 Y.O. Mother lives there now and the whole operation is phenomenal. The people who work there are truly kind and caring. Eli continues to face the challenges of change with grace and optimism.
Awesome job Eli!!!!! You not only saved a historic building, you created a nice place for the elderly to live.
Great story. I'd much rather see this happen than to tear our old buildings down and something cheaper put up. Love historical preservation!

thorceltic ... don't be a dick! It's a great idea and a caring idea! People fall on hard times, for all kinds of reasons, and sometimes they just need some backing to get their feet back on the ground.

Thats a nice home for older folk. This idea should be done with more older vacated buildings. Most get torn down or sit empty till they fall on their own. Its just a shame that with all the homeless and poor folk that more isn't done like this.
So many homeless shelters could be available.
Community centers, orphanages, seniors, homeless, so many in need, and now immigrants. Oh my!

This is so great! I wish more old buildings and houses would be renovated and/or repurposed.
This man should tour and give motivational seminars on the importance, and advantages of preserving buildings.

He sure wasn’t selling his great idea on the beginning. He stated all of the negative points first.... he should’ve had more pride in what he did! It really was great 👍🏽
This is awesome! We have a building in my town that people want to save at least the outside but they’re tearing the whole thing down. It needs a lot of work but this shows that it can be done.

Every state should put some sort of rule saying if a school is no longer being used after X amount of years than it should be converted into apartments

Man where was he when my old high school just days before they finished putting the whatever kind of papers making something a historical building through they had already started tearing it down. I had always said that Libbey High school would have made a great senior center but now it will never happen.

How many hundreds of thousands of amazing buildings have been torn down or left to rot in the US. Many great Southern estates gone, chateaux to rival Versailles gone, Golden Age mansions but the truck load, gone, incredible factory buildings gone, Detroit with it's architecture gone, gothic revival hospitals and asylums gone, Penn station gone, churches and temples and many many more.
REUSE, REDUCE WASTE, RECYCLE ♻️. WISH MORE OLDER SCHOOLS, CHURCHES, MALLS AROUND OUR GREAT COUNTRY WERE REPLANNED, REPLINISHED & USED FOR HOUSING.
