I am currently living and working abroad and anything to do with technology (or fixing tech) is very expensive here. I nearly had a full on panic attack when my battery status was no longer showing on my home screen anymore and my charger wasn't lighting up when plugged into my laptop. I was worried I would have to pay an arm and a leg to get the problem fixed but I stumbled upon your video, followed your directions, and it solved the issue!! Thank you so very much!!

Resetting the SMC by holding down the keys worked! My charger immediately lit up and my dead 2010 macbook pro turned on. I had so much work on there, this was a HUGE relief! Thanks man :)

I didn’t usually put a comment on each section whenever I ran on UA-cam searching but after a month of trouble shooting and searching on my Macbook air’s problem I bump into your site and got this resolve. My anxiety is gone!

Thank you! I never knew about resetting the SMC. When my Mac stopped charging I was about to head down to the Apple store to buy another until I decided to check UA-cam. Worked great and saved me money!

i was desperately trying to salvage the remaining battery and get it to charge because i only had 3% left and also a school project to do, and it wouldn't turn on, but miraculously halfway through the video it worked. thank you, tech gods.
That is amazing, removing the battery, pressing power button for five seconds, reinserting the battery and pressing the power button >>> and it works! SMC is reset, it is now powered on and battery is charging!

Try setting on a hard and flat surface; I was trying to charge my MBP while on the bed and had no luck..... then i placed on a hard surface and that did the trick
Can I just say - you are my hero tonight! I was even browsing Apply online store to buy a new charger coz I thought it’s my charger! When I did the reset thingy, it worked! Green light in my charger lit up again! Yay!! Thank you!!! ❤️

I was freaking out because my ports were all clean and my chargers are both new...no light on my charging cable, no battery indicator on my toolbar, my keyboard wouldn't light up and my fan was going gonzo. Until...I tried your SMC reset for a non-removable battery and voila...all back to normal! Definitely following you now...

I was freaking out by the time you said dont freak out and then i thought my brother would kill me and all the memories that i has with this mac book air is now gone snd then i saw the glitch one where you want to press shift and stuff like that and i was soing that and i was waiting 10 seconds and presing them i literally starting to have tears i was sobbing and then magic happend it turned on and i was like hugging mac and soooo happy like sooooooo much happy and now i will take care of my mac book air amd whenever something is not starting i always start to tears and it start like my ipad it was glitched and nothing was working i was also freaking out and then i started to have tears I accidentally pressed the volume botton and it got normal i think my devices love me cuz whenever i start to cry it starts love you devices

For those of you for whom this suggestion DID NOT WORK, I was feeling desperate. I tried EVERYTHING. I finally took some aluminum foil and jammed it between the charger and the port. It didn't work, BUT when I removed it, its DID WORK! Not sure why, but I'll be trying again if there's a next time.
If I tell my mom she will kill me so I’m watching this.

Thank you! Resetting the SMC worked for my MB Pro w/o removable battery.
Idk if I misunderstood the the process for a non removal battery Mac, but I held down the shift, ctrl, option AND power button and voila.. it reset the SMC. The light on my charger turned on. Thanks!!

THANK YOU! I went to go charge my mac air and the light wouldn’t glow on the charger. I would turn it on and the fan would go crazy and the battery icon wouldn’t show up. Was at 0% Resetting SMC helped. much relief 😮💨💗

holy crap dude i was so scared because all the sudden my macbook's fan got rly loud and didn't charge or show charging display on screen but that last thing you did fixed it!

Had to clean the magsafe port with the needle to remove the oxidation, reset the SMC and it started charging. Thank you!

Had to resent the SMC, but needed to plug in charger while doing so (tried it first without, didn’t do so well). I think I need to replace my battery.
Battery held charge magnificently for years then as of past few days lied to me about charge percentage.
Resetting the SMC didn’t even do anything to memory and all my pages and work were saved.
very helpful video, my MacBook air 2015 was not charging on direct electricity but was charging on invertor electricity, but after watching your video i found out that wireless mouse dongle attached to usb port was causing the issue, removing usb dongle solved it, now my MacBook air is charging even on direct electricity. please help. it ran out of battery, it always lights green and I have to plug it and unplug it multiple times before it actually wanting to charge and for the button to turn orange. today it says it was charging but now it just died out of nowhere, I tried buying a new charger because I thought the other one was broken.. is there any way to fix this?

If your Magsafe connector seems to not seat properly in the port (i.e.: it "rocks"), check for any fragments of metal that may have gotten sucked in by the very strong magnet. A surprisingly common problem. Staples are the #1 culprit.
Soo my light on the charger stopped coming on!!! Which meant it WASNT CHARGING AND I FREAKED OUT!! Anytime I unplugged it it would cut off But I did the smc reset and it’s on again!! Orange, but on!! Which means it is indeed charging. Thank you thank you thank you I legit was gonna cry.

Omg thx I just thought of my thing where I plug in the MacBook charger and it was abit diffrent but there was this blue button that made it charge again at once by pressing and this reminded me :D

Basically, my macbook is always at 0%. Like it's charging but its says 0% at the top and if I unplug the charger my it turns off which is a pain in the butt. Please help!! It's a MacBook Air.
I think your battery is dead. You need to visit an Apple store and they can check that for you.

m s it's not a problem with your charger, it's a problem with your battery. This could be caused by overcharging it, when it's at 100%. You'll need to replace your battery xd
My mac doesn't hold a charge that's my problem I just cleaned the pins and tried resetting smc

I am seeing the battery charge percentage climb now, and I'm happy to report this! The following is what appears to have caused the charging of the battery to again occur. I shut down the MacBook, then I disconnected the power cord from the magnetic connection port, then I pulled out the battery, then I pushed down the power button and held it down for 5 seconds, then I reinstalled the battery, then I reconnected the power cord, then I pushed the power button to restart the MacBook, then I logged into my "portion" of the hard drive and observed the charging percentage information.

Actually the last tip is to watch this video to inspire your mac charger to work :D I heard the charging sound and thought it was from your video then checked my battery icon to find that it finally started charging spontaneously.

Very useful thanks my battery is weak it abruptly stopped and then i connected power adapter. It didn’t take up charge. Then i reset SMC. It worked and started charging

While resurrecting the old machine of my daughter, resetting the SMC - advised by you - did the trick. MagSafe LED turned from green (unable to charge) to orange (charging). Let's wait if it actually does charge. THANKS ANYWAY!!!

My MacBook Pro is a 2014 model and has done this since I got it, I tried a new charger same problem. I use a paper clip to clean the connections on the ports (the plug on the cable and the receiving port) this seems to work. A very annoying thing on an otherwise incredible product.

Seeing the ease at which you released and removed the battery from that earlier generation macbook makes one look at the current trend of electronics design - burying the battery as deeply and inaccessibly as possible - and sadly come to the conclusion that the reason isn’t to build the best device possible for the user. And the users don’t even know and continue to reward this unacceptable manner of pushing the seasonal-refresh/dispose and replace norm onto everyone.
I just replaced the internal battery on my mid-2015 MBP for the second time. And will continue to do so many more times I’m sure before I decide to purchase another machine. It would be much more convenient for that process to be similar to the one shown in this video.
I mean, it’s not terrible, but after seeing that battery removal and replacement in this video, I am assured that it’s not great, either.

this actually worked tbh not the greatest but i managed to get it working my self with out going outside when theres covid and asking a tech person to help me and pay a bill of 500+ all i had to do was clean the debris with a q-tip or a very small brush at the charing port the power cable and the macbook charger. Thanks alot mate i owe you one.
