That was a large amounts of quits that was submitted the committee should only allow 1 per person. Some of theses are wonderful and people should be able to see them. Thank you for showing these beautiful works. I cant imagine the amount of time, energy and hard work that these people have put into this art.
I agree, should be entered one per quilter to be fair. These quits as beautiful. Everybody a chance to shine Quiltcon.! Thanks MC for taking us on your journey at Quiltcon ❤️
Thank you for your positive comments. It is so nice to hear you point out the qualities of each design without making unnecessary or rude remarks even for some of the quilts that didn’t have the “modern” aesthetic.
If these are the rejects, then I am prepared to be super awed by the quilts that were accepted. Kudos to all the quilters show cased here. Thank you for this wonderful showcase of quilts!
You are one of my favorite quilting UA-camrs. I have learned so much from your design commentary and breakdowns. You're very generous to the quilters and to your audience, thank you so much! ps I forgot to say that you're truly a natural on video, so easy to listen and watch you!
I was a volunteer for the first 2 Quiltcon’s (hanging the quilts) and there were a few quilts that got in that were questionable. But I knew why they got in- they were friends with many of the judges and Quiltcon folks. Affluent and influential. I also heard that many quilt competitions are now going to where the quilt has to be quilted by you and not sent to a longarmer. There has been some controversy because some people are saying that they are being priced out because not everyone can afford their own long arm machines. Not that sending it out is cheap either. But I have seen some beautiful quilting done on a domestic machine as well. These quilts are so beautiful! 😍 12:43 love that one!
Thanks so much for your love on my quilt! I had so much fun making that quilt, and still love the design. The fabric challenge was particularly competitive this year; I’ll be submitting this quilt again 😊
I got a class at Quiltcon today. But yes, seeing more than one entry by a single person defeats the purpose of growing Quiltcon for as many artists as possible. I'm looking at all the quilts your showing and I just want to follow all these Quilters to see where they get in throughout the year.
I haven’t been able to watch all and already am stunned by 5 pieces!!! Your commentary adds a lot and is very helpful to this non quilter mosaic artist. I want to say congratulations to all these artists for making fabulous inspiring art! Thank you.
I was really looking forward to your tutorial/video. It is a great idea to show these quilts as a really old lady I would like to give you a tiny piece of advice and hope you consider it positive and constructive criticism. I would like you to count the times you said I like in this video. You have an expensive Vocabulary and I would love to hear more of it. Good luck in all your future videos.
I agree with you that there should be a limit on the number of entries per person. Our state fair used to allow as many as people wanted to bring. Then, it dropped to 5, and now allows 3. It really encourages people to submit their best work, and, of course, it is not a juried show, so that was an issue when people could bring as many as they wanted. It is nice to see more people's work represented.
I'll be at a meet & greet Friday from 4:30-6:00 at the Fly Bar but if not I'll be around all day Saturday too and I'll be live so you will know exactly where I am
Thank you so much for doing these videos! I've been watching your quilt show videos all week. I didn't even know what QuiltCon was before I joined LAMQG last year, so I feel like I'm missing out by not going, but I'm so glad I will be able to watch your videos! ❤
Loved watching this. A lot of these rejects certainly didn't deserve to be not accepted, there were many I felt were better than some at the show. (Admittedly seeing photos is not the same as seeing them in person). I also think some were rejected because they weren't really "modern" they were very much traditional - just my opinion. Wishing I was that good.
I love this conversation about these quilts. The first round of judging happens by photo so if you have an amazing quilt but the picture is poor you might not get in. I struggle with photography so I'm nervous to submit.
The pick up sticks game is from the 18th century and the modern version of the game is believed to have originated in Europe in the 18th century. It doesn't age any of us. It's just a really old game we have all enjoyed!
I agree it does seem unfair to let people have multiple entries while shutting others out. And hopefully they only get to be shown once and not brought back. It gets boring seeing the same type of quilt over and over and frankly I don’t call some of them quilts anymore. They are more wall fiber art because you certainly could not wash them or put them on a bed. Jmho
I love this. I really wish they would limit it to 1 in 1 category. You are right when the style is similar it's like going to the exhibit of that person. I like exhibits it just really bugs me.
Thanks so much for your love on my quilt!😊 It hung at PIQF in Santa Clara last fall, and I plan on resubmitting to QuiltCon next year, so you never know!
Hey you got all three of mine in there! Mine was the windam fabric challenge female with all the quilting and purple lipstick, as well as the last two mini quilts. 🩷🩷 thanks for sharing them.
Nope. I went to a lecture about how it's done which is really interesting. If I can find the person who did the lecture I'm going to see if I can get her to do a tiny talk about how it works.
The “Splash” quilt looks to be rectangular, with square corners, but the perspective from which the photo was taken with it on the floor distorted the shape in the photo.
I can understand that you might want to limit quilts per artist in order to give coverage to more quilt artists. However, the organizers of the show might be concerned about not having as many quilts by "Big Name" quilters who might draw attendees. Just a thought. Both points of view have merit.
2023 QuiltCon should have rejected quilts that were not suitable for children but they didn’t. In fact, they encouraged children to participate and attend. It was my first and last Quiltcon.
@@MACoutureCrafting You are most welcome. One quilt said “F*** you.” I was stunned. There was another inappropriate one. There were elementary age children there, walking by. I think I submitted a complaint. Ugh.

I'm happy to share with those who were not there.

Wow, thank you! I'm just a crazy lady who is passionate about quilts. I'm so happy that you are enjoying my content.
The mermaid was beyond amazing! Love your commentary!
I loved that Mermaid. Thanks for watching.
You are such a fantastic art critic! You know all of the pertinent terminology. Love this content!
Awww that's so kind of you. I think need some more words. I say so many weird things but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing and especially for taking some time on each quilt.
You are so welcome!
People should be only able to submit one quilt. I agree with you!
I'm ok with multiple submissions but only one should be able to get in since they are so limited.
The mermaid quilt was shown at the international quilt festival in Birmingham UK in 2023 , it was stunning to see close up
I knew I was not crazy. I thought that was a lovely quilt.
Over 20K!! Congratulations!!
thank you

There are so many people who can quilt their butts off. It would be interesting to see what would happen if people had to finish their own quilts.
There was something very special about that quilt and the design.
@@MACoutureCrafting I can tell you that if I had to quilt my own quilts, they would be a hot mess. Lol 😂

I think it's a better idea to have one entry per person and maybe do categories where you highlight new entries.

This is an interesting take I guess big names to draw crowds
Multiple by same people is not okay when you have that many entries. Just my opinion 🌷
I think so too
I heard about you from Debbie
I'm so happy Debbie shared me. Wecome!
I think no more than 1 per any catagory
I think that is how it is now. I want just 1 per show since there are so few spaces.
